EngineX OS 5.3.0.2
EngineX OS 5.3.0.2
A custom system rebuilt on the official Engine OS 5.3.0+ base for 16 Denon DJ / Numark / Rane standalone units: .img for SC5000 / SC5000M / SC6000 / SC6000M / PRIME 4 / PRIME 2 / PRIME GO / Mixstream Pro, and a /data bundle (Beta) for SC LIVE 4 / SC LIVE 2 / PRIME 4+ / PRIME GO+ / Mixstream Pro+ / Mixstream Pro Go / PRIME 4 G2 / Rane SYSTEM ONE.
Decks on 5.3.0.1.1, 5.3.0.1 or 5.0.4.2 are offered this release by the online update (Settings → About / Update). USB/SD install works as before.
Native 4-deck layout and shadow decks (#49)
- Engine's own 4-deck view on a standalone SC5000 / SC6000. Each player plays the decks of its role (
Auto,1+3,2+4,1+2,1,2;Settings → Device → 4-Deck Roleor the web console); loads go only to those decks. - The other decks are silent shadow decks: they follow a second EngineX player or a Pioneer player on the same LAN, with track, waveform, play / CUE, position, pitch, master and sync. Shadow decks show the real track name, also for files without tags.
Pioneer CDJ / Pro DJ Link (Beta, #51, #59, #63)
- Read a CDJ's rekordbox USB library over LAN / Wi-Fi, and let CDJs browse a rekordbox USB plugged into the deck.
- A drive with only an Engine library (streaming downloads included) can be browsed by CDJs too: the deck writes a rekordbox export for it. A real rekordbox export on a drive is never rewritten. The beat grid of such tracks is a plain grid at the track's BPM and the waveform is a placeholder (#63).
- One tempo master across SC5000s and CDJs: MASTER is handed over either way; as master the deck sends its BPM and beats for the CDJs' BEAT SYNC, and a CDJ in BEAT SYNC follows the deck's pitch fader. Shadow decks follow a CDJ's pitch back to 0 and a CUE to the start.
- Tested with two real SC5000s and OpenProLink, the maintainer's Pro DJ Link toolkit (a built-in Virtual CDJ-3000 simulator, plus
prolink-probeto capture the protocol of Pioneer CDJ / XDJ players and DJM mixers), on one LAN. No real Pioneer CDJ-3000 was on hand yet. If you own a Pioneer CDJ-3000, CDJ-2000NXS2, XDJ-AZ / XZ or a DJM-A9 / DJM-V10 / DJM-900NXS2 mixer, real-hardware test reports and device / mixer protocol captures are very welcome at Cd1s/OpenProLink or here, to improve cross-brand libraries, the mixer's Beat FX tempo sync, Quantize and On-Air linking.
Streaming
- Apple Music joins the services (#65); OmniSource shows USB / SD playlists and tracks inside the streaming browser, with one search for both (#62); Wi-Fi Music Drop from the web console (#66).
- Spotify needs your own app (#70): Spotify limits users and requests per app, so there is no shared built-in app. Create a free app at developer.spotify.com/dashboard, add the Redirect URI shown in the web console, and paste its Client ID there.
- "Track not found" after a while (#73): a streaming playlist left open on the deck keeps loading after the background service restarts. Track and playlist IDs are now kept on the deck.
- A logged-in service with no playlists says why (#70).
- Apple Music sign-in (#75): the phone page signs in with Apple Music (MusicKit JS); where Apple does not allow that, it offers a bookmarklet that copies your token from music.apple.com.
- Console Access Code on the deck (#79):
Settings → Aboutshows the web console address and access code. A streaming QR code logs in only that service and never opens the console, so guests who scan the screen get no control of your deck.
Deck and waveform (#77, #78)
- Waveform zoom-out to 30 s on every model (#77): Engine limits the all-in-ones (PRIME 4, PRIME 2, PRIME GO, Mixstream Pro, SC LIVE) to 10 s and the SC5000 / SC6000 to 30 s on the same hardware; all now zoom out to 30 s, so more of the upcoming beat grid is on screen. With
Settings → Device → Encoder Behaviorset toWaveform Zoom, the Browse knob zooms on the deck screen. - Turn Off from the screen (#78):
Settings → Device → Power → Turn Offopens Engine's own "Turn Off" confirmation, with its recording and library-migration guards. - Silent Cue: the Censor button can be set to
Silent Cue(Settings → Playback → Censor Button Behavior) where Engine provides it (every model measured). - Engine's own Master Limiter (
Settings → Mixer, Off / 0–18 dB) now also shows on PRIME GO and Mixstream Pro, which have it but hid the setting.
Sound
Master Soft Clipper(#58, formerly "Master Soft Limiter"),Auto-Gain (0 dB Normalize)(#64, off by default), Flanger level compensation (#54) andUpfader Echo Out(#52): 21 real-time DSP hooks in total, with no added latency.
Library and deck
Auto-Analyze Drivesin the background at idle priority (#55); rekordbox 6.8.5 exports import even with a few damaged files (#53); Live Stream to Shoutcast / Icecast (#50); the pads stay in HOT CUE when a track loads (#71); the web console was redesigned (#67).- Relocate Missing Tracks (#74): after files were moved or renamed on the same drive, the web console finds each missing track's new place.
Scanonly previews;Relocatebacks upm.dbfirst, then rewrites the paths.
Second-generation models: /data bundle (Beta, #61, #68, #69, #76)

SC LIVE 4, SC LIVE 2, PRIME 4+, PRIME GO+, Mixstream Pro+, Mixstream Pro Go, PRIME 4 G2 and SYSTEM ONE run signed firmware that refuses a modified
.img. For them EngineX OS comes as a*-Data-Bundle.tar.gzthat installs to/dataon top of the official Engine OS 5.3.0 and leaves the system partition untouched. -
The first six run the same Engine build as SC LIVE 4. Their bundles passed the sandbox test on the official 5.3.0 root file systems of SC LIVE 4 and Mixstream Pro+ (install, boot activation, Engine with all 16 patches and 21 DSP hooks, uninstall), but has not been tried on real hardware yet. Reports are welcome in #68 / #69.

Read
README-INSTALL.txtin the bundle. Install on the device withinstall.sh(recommended). The fastboot method replaces the whole/datapartition, so use it only with an image made from your own/databackup. -
Never flash a
PRIME4/PRIMEGO/MIXSTREAMPRO.imgon a second-generation unit. -
New: PRIME 4 G2 (JP24) and SYSTEM ONE (RMZ2) share one 64-bit (AArch64) Engine, so their bundle carries a 64-bit build of the suite and the Engine hook. In: the UI packs, the streaming gateway (Deezer, SoundCloud, Beatport) and the EngineX services. Not ported to the 64-bit Engine yet: the DSP guards, master limiter and auto gain, SQLite tuning and the 4-deck unlock; Stems stay as the official firmware has them. The 64-bit Engine needs the unit's secure element (OP-TEE) to start, so the sandbox on the official AZ04 root file system checked install, boot activation, the hook's 6 Engine edits and UI pack loading, and uninstall, but not the screens. Reports are welcome in #76.

One-tap on-deck update for the second generation (#86): a second-generation deck with the
/databundle installed now finds the next release (for example 5.3.0.3) under Settings → About / Update, downloads itsData-Bundle.tar.gz, checksSHA256SUMS, swaps the files in one step and restarts the EngineX services. The system partition is not touched. Decks that already run an earlier 5.3.0.2 bundle need this one installed once by hand.
Release gate
Built, tested and gated natively on an ARM build host. The release gate covered the online update 5.3.0.1.1 → 5.3.0.2 and a full feature check of the new image for all three image groups.
