v1.5.0
This release makes live memory discovery much faster, lets you target any running game, adds a new DMA platform plugin, and makes the app safer against untrusted scripts, plugins, and game data.
What's New
Target any running game
You can now lock any running game, not just the one tied to the project you have open. The Unreal and Unity target pages can list every running process (switch to All Processes mode), and you can filter the list or search it (case-insensitive). If a search finds nothing, the app's log records how many processes were checked and the closest name matches, so you can see why.
DMA platform plugin
A new platform plugin reads and writes a target process's memory over a PCIe DMA card, with no driver or injected code required on the target machine. It's included in the Windows installer and is useful in places where injected code would be detected. It requires a supported PCIe DMA card.
Hardened against untrusted input
- Sandboxed scripts — your custom scripts can no longer touch your files or your system; they run only inside the app.
- Protected from memory exhaustion — the app now limits how much memory it will allocate when reading untrusted game data, so a misbehaving game can't use up your system's memory.
- Safer plugin loading — the app only loads plugins from the plugins folder and checks what a plugin returns before using it.
Bug Fixes
- Typing a malformed hex offset or XOR key in the capture tool now shows a clear error instead of quietly using zero.
- Corrected structure layouts that were subtly wrong in some games, which had produced incorrect field offsets.
- The app is more stable and no longer crashes when it encounters malformed or partially-readable game memory; it reports the problem instead.
- Game processes whose modules couldn't be read are no longer missing from the target list — they stay listed, and locking still works even when module loading fails.
- Module lists now populate for protected game processes where they previously came back empty.
- Fixed SDK generation hanging forever on classes that contain dynamic delegate methods — a very common class shape in many games.
Performance
- Much faster live discovery — finding a game's core object and name tables is now dramatically faster on affected titles.
- Faster SDK generation — building a generated SDK is quicker.
- Snappier interface — the app stays responsive while you browse large memory dumps.
How to Update
- Download and install CheatGear 1.5.0.
- Windows: the app now asks for administrator rights when it starts, so it can reliably read protected game processes.
- DMA users: the DMA platform plugin is included in the installer and appears in the
pluginsfolder next to the app — choose it as your platform.
