@Chen-Wendi Chen-Wendi released this 22 Sep 11:22

RemoteFit fits a macOS desktop to an iPad during a UU Remote session and restores the original display afterwards. This is the first public release.

Included

  • Native Swift observer for the tested Chinese UU Remote 4.41.2 UI.
  • 2752 x 2064 pixels / 1376 x 1032 HiDPI at 60 Hz for an iPad Pro 13-inch (M4), using an existing BetterDisplay virtual screen.
  • Independent login service with Enable.command, Status.command, and Disable.command.
  • Atomic recovery snapshots, a stable local-display baseline, verified restoration, and recovery retries.
  • Manual resolution changes preserved for the current session, with the original recovery snapshot retained.

Download and use

For Apple silicon, download RemoteFit-0.2.2-macos-arm64.zip and extract it completely. Open BetterDisplay and UU Remote, prepare one disconnected 4:3 HiDPI virtual display, then double-click Enable.command. Allow the installed RemoteFit app in macOS Accessibility settings. Keep UU's main window and incoming-session details readable; they can remain behind other apps.

The ZIP includes the executable and requires no Swift toolchain at runtime. GitHub's source archives require Apple's Swift toolchain to build. The binary targets macOS 13 or later; live checks used macOS 15.6 on Apple silicon, BetterDisplay 4.3.6, and UU Remote 4.41.2. The binary is ad hoc signed, not notarized. The adjacent .sha256 file verifies the ZIP.

Validation and limits

  • 73 automated tests passed, plus release compilation, archive integrity, extracted CLI checks, signature verification, and checksum verification.
  • macOS CI checks the published source commit with simulated tests, release packaging, and CLI smoke checks.
  • Live checks verified automatic activation, readable iPad output, preservation of a manual 2624 x 1968 mode, and restoration to the original 2560 x 1440 / 120 Hz desktop.
  • A locked-session test initially rejected recovery with CoreGraphics error 1014. The recovery record was retained and the independent worker later restored the desktop through retries. Immediate restoration while locked is not guaranteed.
  • Device-name matching must be unique. One physical display is supported. Unsupported UU versions are rejected, apart from the historical 4.38.0 plaintext detector.
  • Startup after a later login/reboot, all failure scenarios, and UU's encoded stream dimensions remain unverified. Exact window placement, Spaces, and operating-system history are outside the cleanup guarantee.

See the README, compatibility, and validation record for setup, recovery, and the evidence behind these results.
