v2.2.24 — the log rotation fails gracefully on a busy journal, and the README names every status reading (2026-09-18)

  • Log rotation no longer crashes the tick when the journal is busy (new, 2026-09-18):
the scheduler holds logs/tick.log with an append handle; Windows (no delete-sharing)
made unlink fail with WinError 32 on every rotation, so the tick exited rc=1 and a
traceback containing the machine's absolute paths was archived every run. Rotation now
writes the full original into the archive first, then truncates the main file in place
when it cannot be removed — the append side keeps writing, no error, no data loss
    (ledger.store.truncate_file, test-pinned with a held handle).
  • The README quick-start status line carries all five readings (S3/D1): bilingual
description now lists the capacity and re-ask gates, evidence compliance, executor-side
loss and the usage split — matching docs/running.md one line for one line.
  • The mechanism document notes the busy-handle tolerance on rotation (both languages),
so the failure semantics are written down where the mechanism is.
