CutAndMove v2.0.2
Cut & Move v2.0.2
Version 2.0.2 (build 7). Requires an Apple silicon Mac (M1 or later) running macOS 26.1 or later.
- Clearer keyboard setup: distinguish missing Accessibility access, unavailable monitoring, and ready-to-use shortcuts.
- Retry Monitoring and a persistent Done action replace the automatically dismissed success screen; permission diagnostics can grow with their content.
- The menu's Keyboard Shortcut Settings action matches its purpose, and About's Website action opens the Cut & Move homepage.
- Finder Move and Cancel Cut labels use the correct singular or plural item count.
- Download pages show complete hardware requirements beside the buttons, improve text/button contrast, and clarify published versus development-preview help.
- Shared Finder keyboard/menu cut state, collision checks, cancellation, and partial-failure handling remain unchanged.
- Release packaging now requires a notarization ticket and Gatekeeper acceptance for the signed outer DMG as well as the app.
Distributed directly through GitHub as a MILL5 Developer ID signed, Apple-notarized app in a signed DMG or ZIP. No Mac App Store version.
CutAndMove v2.0.1
Cut & Move v2.0.1
Version 2.0.1 (build 6). Requires an Apple silicon Mac (M1 or later) running macOS 26.1 or later.
- Apple-silicon-only app and Finder Sync extension. Intel binaries are no longer included.
- Release verification rejects packages containing any architecture other than arm64.
- Updated website, README, and machine-readable product facts with the hardware requirements and full version number.
- Includes the Finder integration from v2.0.0: right-click Cut, Move Here, and Cancel Cut; toolbar actions; pending-cut badges; and shared keyboard/context-menu cut state across local folders and mounted drives.
Distributed directly through GitHub as a MILL5 Developer ID signed, Apple-notarized app in a signed DMG or ZIP. No Mac App Store version. The existing v2.0.0 release is unchanged.
CutAndMove v2.0.0
Cut & Move v2.0.0
Version 2.0.0 (build 5). Direct download for macOS, signed by MILL5 and notarized by Apple.
- Native Finder Sync extension with Cut with Cut & Move, Move Here, and Cancel Cut contextual actions.
- Finder toolbar menu and scissors badges on items waiting to move.
- Shared cut selection: keyboard Cut can be completed through the Finder menu, and menu Cut can be completed with Cmd+V when keyboard monitoring is enabled.
- Finder extension enablement status in the app menu, with automatic coverage for all local folders and mounted drives. No folder picker or allowlist.
- Menu-driven moves reject existing destinations, stale/replaced sources, duplicate selections, and moving a folder into itself. Partial failures retain the remaining selection and display a status message; no automatic overwrites.
- Keyboard remapping fix: preserve native key translation rather than injecting Unicode text, preventing the stale-text clipboard/text-clipping failure.
- No App Store dependency. The embedded extension and app use MILL5 signing and a local shared app-group container.
Enable the extension using Enable / Manage Finder Extension… in Cut & Move. In Finder, use Customize Toolbar… to add the Cut & Move button if it is not shown. Folder coverage is automatic; protected/read-only locations still obey macOS permissions, and virtual views may not expose a destination. Other Finder extensions and cloud providers can affect which badges Finder displays. Accessibility permission is still required for Cmd+X/Cmd+V remapping, not for the Finder menu commands.
CutAndMove v1.0.3
Cut & Move 1.0.3
- Fix Launch at Login incorrectly reporting that an app installed in Applications must be moved there.
- Attempt login-item registration when macOS reports the service as missing, and show the actual registration error if it fails.
- Handle approval-required results, report unconfirmed registration, and clear stale errors when the service becomes enabled.
- Add regression coverage for missing-service registration, approval, errors, retries, and status recovery.
Requires macOS 26.1+. Developer ID signed and Apple notarized. Download the DMG or ZIP from this release; SHA-256 checksums are included. No Mac App Store installation is required.
CutAndMove v1.0.2
Cut & Move 1.0.2
- Full-bleed app icon without the old gray surround or inset border, at every icon size.
- Finder search and rename fields retain native text editing. Unknown or inaccessible controls are left unchanged.
- Plain Command shortcuts are matched precisely, with consistent key-down/key-up transformations and repeat suppression.
- Cut state is synchronous and clears on application switches, including mouse-only switches.
- Paste becomes a move only after a fresh file copy; stale or replaced clipboards do not become moves.
- Disabled keyboard taps recover automatically; revoking Accessibility access stops monitoring. Readiness reflects actual tap status.
- Native Accessibility permission prompting at launch, automatic permission rechecks, and visible monitoring errors.
- Launch-at-login approval guidance and user-visible errors.
- Hardened-runtime library validation enabled, hosted test signing aligned, support/copyright information corrected, and personal Xcode metadata removed from version control.
- Regression coverage for shortcuts, focus classification, clipboard safety, monitoring decisions, and login-item outcomes.
Requires macOS 26.1+. Developer ID signed and Apple notarized; downloads are available through GitHub Releases. The macOS icon presentation may apply its own mask. No App Store submission.
CutAndMove v1.0.1
Cut & Move 1.0.1
- Direct macOS distribution using MacEdgeLight's release workflow; no Mac App Store submission.
- MILL5 Developer ID signed and Apple-notarized app, supplied as a signed DMG and ZIP.
- SHA-256 checksums included for downloaded packages.
- PolyForm Strict 1.0.0 license.
Requires macOS 26.1 or later. Download access requires membership in the private GitHub repository. Open the DMG, drag CutAndMove into Applications, and grant Accessibility access when prompted.
CutAndMove 1.0
CutAndMove 1.0! First Release
macOS Finder has no native Cmd+X to cut and move files. Cut & Move fixes that. It's a lightweight menu bar utility that intercepts Cmd+X in Finder, turning it into a true cut-and-move operation -- just like you'd expect.
