NX Ctudio 0.0.1
Initial experimental release of NX Ctudio, a native Nikon pixel-shift CLI with NEFX output.
Downloads
For normal use, download a CI-built standalone archive for your platform. Python, uv, and a source checkout are not required. Extract the entire archive and keep the nxc directory intact, including _internal and build-info.json.
| Platform | Archive | CI build/test system |
|---|---|---|
| Linux x86_64 | nxc-0.0.1-linux-x86_64.tar.gz | Ubuntu 22.04 |
| Linux ARM64 | nxc-0.0.1-linux-arm64.tar.gz | Ubuntu 24.04 |
| macOS Apple silicon | nxc-0.0.1-macos-arm64.tar.gz | macOS 15 |
| Windows x86_64 | nxc-0.0.1-windows-x86_64.zip | Windows Server 2022 |
Run ./nxc/nxc on Linux/macOS or .\nxc\nxc.exe in Windows PowerShell. SHA256SUMS covers the standalone archives, Python wheel, and source distribution. Builds are unsigned and macOS notarization is not provided. Compatibility with older systems is not established by the CI matrix.
Included
- Experimental native NEFX synthesis for complete ordered Nikon Z8, Zf, Z6III, and Z5II lossless 14-bit pixel-shift sequences.
- All nine supported 4/8/16/32-frame input/output combinations, optional source-metadata chromatic correction, JSON reports, and publication without overwriting existing outputs.
- Standalone CLI builds with bundled runtime dependencies; no Wine or Nikon DLL runtime dependency.
- README instructions that recommend Release downloads for normal use and reserve uv run for development.
Limits
- Authentic per-model capture/reference comparisons and version-pinned Lightroom acceptance remain open. Fixture and packaging tests do not establish image-quality acceptance or byte-identical Nikon output.
- Single-file NEFX output is tested on all four build targets. Output-directory publication requires Linux renameat2 and RENAME_NOREPLACE filesystem support.
- HE/HE* is unsupported. HLG, non-FX image areas, unobserved firmware/metadata variants, and broader correction parameters remain unvalidated.
- Z5II's missing LibRaw 0.22.1 color matrix is reported; source color metadata is preserved and no calibration is substituted.
- Metadata inspection requires a separately installed ExifTool on PATH. Merge does not require ExifTool. Captures, reference outputs, and vendor assets are not bundled.
Verification
Built from commit 92820dd by tag CI 35551741057, with all 11 jobs passing. Four Linux test configurations each passed 2,355 tests; macOS and Windows each passed 236 portable synthesis tests, with no failed, errored, or skipped tests in the six JUnit reports. Each build also tested the installed wheel and extracted standalone CLI with authored four-camera fixtures. These are software and packaging checks, not authentic-capture or Lightroom acceptance.
