Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

Digging corpse-filled pits only gives out regular ground results such as soil and rocks, then turns it into a shallow pit. The corpses seem to have just vanished into thin air.

Describe the solution you'd like

Considering the corpse portion, it would be realistic to expect rotten carcasses, bones, and buried belongings. To place more risk on the extra loot from graverobbing, aside from the random zed or critters unearthed, maybe morale penalties and risk of disease could be considered.

Describe alternatives you've considered

For discussion.

I will try to be short,
this type of pit, has corpses (it is still a pit, a large hole on earth) do we take it for granted they were pulped when thrown in?
actions taken should be :
a)examine it (recover corpses, items, or reanimated Zs to fight with) and leaving on map an empty pit.
b)fill pit ( witch is unusual not to need 200 soil and can be done just like that with the needed tool) and leaving on map field of dirt.

I take in mind that those were dug up by military pre-cataclysm to throw in "rioters" and victims and corpses weren't pulped.
lingering in the area should spawn Zs.

Corpses in most pits should be mostly damaged or rotten (aside from stragglers or dormant zeds), seeing as intact bodies reanimated by the blob should have already climbed out and is partially simulated by the massive spawns around burial/FEMA grounds.

Though, seeing a teeming pit of undead suddenly reaching out for you, sounds like a nice experience. Trap-type pits which spawn a bunch could be interesting, but there should be a limit per pit to avoid zombie/loot farming.
