@scttbnsn scttbnsn released this 03 Nov 12:52
v1.0.0-beta.9
374e896

Beta.9 moves closed-lid mode off the background helper. It now uses a one-time administrator approval that lets Dilated run pmset -a disablesleep and nothing else. The old helper is removed on first launch. If Dilated quits unexpectedly or stops responding during a closed-lid session, normal sleep comes back on its own. There's also a new Support Dilated menu.

Closed-lid mode is still experimental. Recovery after a reboot, battery and thermal guard transitions during closed-lid, revoking the rule mid-session, helper migration from a registered helper, uninstall sleep and full native UI acceptance haven't been run on hardware for this build.

Apple silicon, macOS 26 or later. See the installation guide.

Menu clicks no longer get dropped. Resume automation and other menu items sometimes did nothing after the menu closed.

Closed-lid mode is still experimental. This build carries over beta.9's hardware checks, since only menu handling changed.

Apple silicon, macOS 26 or later. See the installation guide.

v1.0.0-beta.8

Beta.8 adds an About page to Settings, with the version, license and project links. Sparkle, the update framework, is now 2.10.1.

Closed-lid mode remains experimental. This release keeps the earlier-beta hardware receipts with their original source revisions. macOS 27 closed-lid operation, app and helper crash recovery, guard transitions, reboot recovery, approval denial, helper upgrades, uninstall sleep and full native UI acceptance remain unverified.

Apple silicon, macOS 26 or later. See the installation guide.

Beta.7 opens Settings pages at the top when switching between panes.

Closed-lid mode remains experimental. This release retains earlier-beta hardware receipts with their original source revisions. macOS 27 closed-lid operation, app/helper crash recovery, guard transitions, reboot recovery, approval denial, helper upgrades, uninstall sleep and full native UI acceptance remain unverified.

v1.0.0-beta.6

Beta.6 improves presets, keyboard navigation and glyph previews.

  • Duration presets save when you leave the field and preserve unfinished edits across solid/glass changes. Retrying a failed save clears its own error without clearing another settings failure.
  • Tab, Return and Space let you reach the shortcut recorder buttons.
  • All four glyph previews loop through every state, with Reduce Motion respected.
  • Update availability refreshes the open menu, and trigger action labels identify their target.
  • Successful update or uninstall preparation closes Settings sheets. Helper status ignores stale power readings.

Closed-lid mode remains experimental. This release retains earlier-beta hardware receipts with their original source revisions. macOS 27 closed-lid operation, app/helper crash recovery, guard transitions, reboot recovery, approval denial, helper upgrades, uninstall sleep and native UI acceptance remain unverified.

Apple silicon, macOS 26 or later. See the installation guide.

v1.0.0-beta.5
fd02a50

Fifth public beta of Dilated for macOS 26 on Apple Silicon. There's no beta.4 release: that tag was cut, but packaging failed on a build problem fixed here, so its changes ship in this one.

Installed betas update with Check for Updates in the menu bar menu or in Settings. You can also download the DMG below, or upgrade with Homebrew from beta.3 on.

What changed since beta.3:

  • Settings is plainer. There are no accent colours or sidebar tagline, and there's no focus ring on the selected page when you open it.
  • A page you move to with Tab gets a light outline, and VoiceOver reads each sidebar page by name.

Beta caveats are unchanged. Closed-lid mode is experimental. Crash, reboot and update recovery haven't been verified on hardware, and there's no macOS 27 run yet.

The DMG is signed and notarized by CodesWhat. SHA-256 files and the release manifest are attached.

v1.0.0-beta.3
80be97d

Third public beta of Dilated for macOS 26 on Apple Silicon.

Installed betas update through Sparkle, and Check for Updates is now right in the menu bar menu. You can also download the DMG below.

If a Homebrew upgrade from beta.1 or beta.2 fails at dilated prepare-update with "Operation not permitted", update with Check for Updates in Settings instead. That's the bug this release fixes, and the fix only helps from beta.3 on, because the installed copy runs the preparation step.

What changed since beta.2:

  • Check for Updates is in the menu bar menu.
  • dilated prepare-update works when macOS reports the helper as not found, so Homebrew upgrades go through again.
  • Removing a trigger condition no longer crashes the editor.
  • Settings keeps its page, typed text and open sheets when you change Increase Contrast, Reduce Motion or Reduce Transparency.
  • VoiceOver names every settings switch and reads each assigned shortcut.
  • The specific-process trigger picker fills its list when it opens, settings lists keep focus on the right row when they change, and the glyph previews stop redrawing when they don't animate.

Beta caveats are unchanged. Closed-lid mode is experimental. Crash, reboot and update recovery haven't been verified on hardware, and there's no macOS 27 run yet.

The DMG is signed and notarized by CodesWhat. SHA-256 files and the release manifest are attached.

v1.0.0-beta.2

Second public beta of Dilated for macOS 26 on Apple Silicon.

Installed betas update through Sparkle. You can also download the DMG below, or run brew upgrade --cask codeswhat/tap/dilated once the tap's cask moves to this version.

What changed since beta.1:

  • Resuming holds after a user switch now survives repeated switches and keeps the pause state from before the first one.
  • Leases that ended while you were away are released, and every AppleScript hold comes back unless an active one already covers it.
  • The docs describe the public beta.

Beta caveats are unchanged. Closed-lid mode is experimental. Crash, reboot and update recovery haven't been verified on hardware, there's no macOS 27 or second-Mac run yet, and the privileged helper still fails to register on my own test Mac.

The DMG is signed and notarized by CodesWhat. SHA-256 files and the release manifest are attached.

v1.0.0-beta.1
6fbfc50

First public beta of Dilated for macOS 26 on Apple Silicon.

Download the DMG below, or run brew install --cask codeswhat/tap/dilated. Once installed, updates arrive through Sparkle from dilated.codeswhat.com.

What's in it: timed and indefinite keep-awake holds, renewable agent holds and a command runner, triggers for apps, processes, schedules, power, displays, networks, devices and activity, download and Drive Alive holds, notifications and sounds, a configurable menu bar, history and statistics, and AppleScript and Shortcuts actions.

Beta caveats: closed-lid mode is experimental. Crash, reboot and update recovery haven't been verified on hardware, there's no macOS 27 or second-Mac run yet, and the privileged helper fails to register on my own test Mac right now. The cask caveats and the website say the same.

The DMG is signed and notarized by CodesWhat. SHA-256 files and the release manifest are attached for verification.
