Media Lock 0.3.0
Media Lock 0.3.0 is the stable Windows 11 x64 release of the feature set validated in 0.3.0-rc.1. It adds one-way Playback State Lock, a per-user installer and a smaller compressed self-contained executable while preserving Media Lock's routing, Recovery, localization, visual, diagnostic and global-media-key behavior.
Highlights since 0.2.0
- Keep the current routed target playing until Media Lock, the Windows lock screen, system sleep or the configurable repeated-pause escape explicitly releases the policy.
- Install per user without elevation, launch from Windows Search/Start Menu and retain user data during uninstall.
- Continue using the portable ZIP when installation is not wanted; ZIP and Setup contain the same reviewed payload.
- Use the compressed self-contained single-file build without installing a separate .NET runtime.
Upgrade
From 0.3.0-rc.1 Setup
Exit Media Lock, then run the stable Setup. It uses the same per-user AppId and install path, upgrades in place and preserves settings, state and an enabled installed-path startup command. Same-version repair is supported; after stable is installed, the older RC1 installer is blocked.
From portable 0.2.0
Disable Start with Windows in the old copy and choose notification-area Exit before moving it or installing stable. Existing %LocalAppData%\MediaLock\ settings and state are reused. After verifying the migrated settings, re-enable startup from the installed or final portable path.
Downloads and SHA-256
Both downloads and their contained executable are unsigned. Windows may show SmartScreen, Smart App Control or reputation warnings. Verify the downloaded file before running it.

The ZIP contains one self-contained MediaLock.exe. Setup installs for the current user, requires no elevation and adds Windows Search/Start Menu and Installed apps entries.
Known limitations
- Media Lock cannot set or reliably retain Windows Current Session and cannot promise that its card replaces or stays first on Windows native media surfaces.
- GSMTC routing does not inspect browser URLs or guarantee a specific tab inside one Chromium application.
- Keep Playing cannot perfectly attribute every genuine Playing-to-Paused transition to a person versus a player; Changing and duplicate Paused observations are excluded, and bounded overrides are provided.
- Playback State Lock is process-lifetime state and does not automatically re-arm after restart, login or sleep.
- Automatic updates, code signing, ARM64, volume/mute and customizable shortcuts are not included.
The ZIP and Setup were built from clean source commit a773fac983728f5d4b2d8cbe40bfad9d1c016737. All 365 automated tests, Release build, packaging contracts, exact-artifact host validation and fresh Windows Sandbox validation passed. Full evidence is in the Phase 14 stable validation report.
Media Lock 0.3.0-rc.1
Media Lock 0.3.0-rc.1 is an unsigned Windows 11 x64 release candidate. It adds one-way Playback State Lock, a
per-user installer and a smaller compressed self-contained executable while preserving the routing, Recovery,
localization, visual, diagnostic and global-media-key behavior of stable 0.2.0.
Highlights since 0.2.0
- Keep the current routed target playing until Media Lock, the lock screen, system sleep or the configurable repeated-
pause escape explicitly releases the policy. - Install per user without elevation, launch from Windows Search/Start Menu and retain user data during uninstall.
- Continue using the portable ZIP when installation is not wanted; ZIP and Setup contain the same reviewed payload.
- Reduce the executable footprint by 58.91% while retaining English, Traditional Chinese and the self-contained
no-separate-runtime contract.
Upgrade from 0.2.0
Public 0.2.0 was portable-only. Disable Start with Windows in the old copy and use notification-area Exit before
moving it or installing this candidate. Existing %LocalAppData%\MediaLock\ settings and state are reused. After
checking the migrated settings, re-enable startup from the installed or final portable path.
Setup uses a stable per-user install path. Same-version repair and newer-version upgrades are allowed; older installers
are blocked. User data is retained during uninstall.
Downloads and SHA-256
Both downloads are unsigned. Windows may show SmartScreen, Smart App Control or reputation warnings. Verify the
downloaded file before running it.

No separately installed .NET runtime is required. The ZIP contains one MediaLock.exe; Setup installs for the current
user and does not require elevation.
Known limitations
- Media Lock cannot set or reliably retain Windows Current Session and cannot promise that its card stays first on
Windows native media surfaces. - GSMTC routing does not inspect browser URLs or guarantee a specific tab inside one Chromium application.
- Keep Playing cannot perfectly distinguish every user pause from a player reporting buffering as Paused; Changing and
duplicate Paused observations are excluded, and bounded user overrides are provided. - Playback State Lock is process-lifetime state and does not automatically re-arm after restart or login.
- Automatic updates, code signing, ARM64, volume/mute and customizable shortcuts are not included.
The ZIP and Setup were built from clean source commit
d0fe5583e91204fe98a79b14ae0327e5120af54e. The complete local, host and Windows Sandbox evidence is recorded in the
Phase 13B validation report.
Stable 0.2.0 remains Latest; this release is a Prerelease.

0.2.0.0 - local-host and Windows Sandbox gates: passed
Known limitation
This executable is unsigned, so Windows reputation or SmartScreen warnings may appear. Routing uses GSMTC source/session identity and does not identify individual browser tabs by URL.
Media Lock 0.2.0-rc.3
Media Lock 0.2.0-rc.3 is the third unsigned Windows x64 prerelease candidate.
Highlights since rc.2:
- Adds a bilingual, themed About and diagnostics surface in Settings.
- Copies a privacy-safe diagnostic summary using native Windows line endings.
- Clears the copied-diagnostics confirmation after five seconds or when Settings closes.
- Keeps the confirmation synchronized with live language changes.
- Adds direct support, bug-report and bounded-log actions.

Known limitations
- Media Lock relies on GSMTC source and Session identity; it does not identify browser tabs by URL.
- Browser integration, customizable shortcuts, volume and mute are not included.
- Application and hardware compatibility claims require a named passing test row.
Media Lock 0.2.0-rc.1
Media Lock 0.2.0-rc.1 is the first portable-layout release candidate for Windows x64.
Download
Download MediaLock-0.2.0-rc.1-win-x64.zip, verify it, extract it, and run the single MediaLock.exe. No separately installed .NET runtime is required.
The accompanying manifest records build provenance and package properties. GitHub also calculates a SHA-256 digest for each uploaded asset, so no separate .sha256 asset is included.
Included
- Session Lock, App Lock, and ordered Priority Rules
- GSMTC Session discovery and media controls
- physical media-key capture, consume, and locked routing on the documented supported hardware scope
- Session recovery and suspend/resume reacquisition
- notification-area operation, close-to-tray, explicit Exit, single-instance activation
- Settings, current-user login startup, persistence, and bounded diagnostic logs
Clean-environment validation
The exact ZIP passed Windows Sandbox 0.8.107.0 on Windows 11 Enterprise 24H2 build 26100.9168, x64:
- independent archive digest verification and one-file ZIP inspection

Important
This candidate is unsigned. Windows may show a SmartScreen or reputation warning even when the hash matches. It supports win-x64 only and remains a prerelease.
Artwork, seek, volume, customizable shortcuts, browser URL/tab correlation, and broader untested application/device compatibility are outside this candidate.
