ReFix v1.4.0 - Photon Cloud Emulator (ReFixCloud), Fusion Multiplayer & 32-bit Game Fixes
What's New & Fixed in v1.4.0
-
Photon Games Without Photon Servers (ReFixCloud):
- New built-in Photon Cloud emulator: Photon PUN 2, Realtime, Voice and Fusion games now run with no Photon servers at all. Each PC runs its own local Photon server, and game traffic travels between players over Steam P2P (Spacewar 480).
- Friends join through normal Steam invites or room codes — no Photon account, AppID or region setup needed.
- Verified across two and three PCs in R.E.P.O. (Photon PUN) and Roadside Research (Photon Fusion host/client).
-
Smarter Automatic Setup:
- AutoDeploy now detects Photon by itself (including IL2CPP games) and turns the emulator on only for games that really use Photon. Every other game keeps its original networking untouched.
- Game-specific helpers (HTTP proxy, local backend, fast cloud-fail, offline inventory) are now opt-in per game in
ReFix.ini, so online games keep full access to official services like EOS and PlayFab.
-
Generic Steam P2P Tunnelling & Offline Inventory:
- Serverless P2P games can tunnel their traffic over Steam's relay network (SDR).
- Optional offline inventory persistence (
ReFix_Inventory.json). Real-money purchases are never faked.
-
Fewer Crashes on Modern Steamworks Games:
- Steam interface hooks are now matched to the exact interface version each game uses, fixing crashes and broken invites/authentication on Steamworks 1.57–1.61 titles (including Unreal Engine 5 games).
- Fixed a crash on Steamworks 1.60 games caused by an
ISteamFriendsversion mismatch; all Friends calls now run on the game's main thread.
-
32-bit Game Fixes:
- Fixed a startup crash in 32-bit games such as Overcooked! 2: ReFix now hands games the exact Steam interface version they ask for.
- AutoDeploy no longer copies DLLs into Unity's Linux plugin folders, which made deployment verification fail on some 32-bit games.
ReFix_x86.lognow explains when another program has hijacked Steam's 32-bit client path (fix: restart Steam).
-
Cleaner Installs & Uninstalls:
- Online mode keeps a single backup (
steam_api64_original.dll) next to the proxy instead of two copies. Uninstall_ReFix.batrestores the genuine DLL correctly, including after Re:Goldberg deployments, and Re:Goldberg deployments pass verification again.
- Online mode keeps a single backup (
-
Under the Hood:
- Generic IL2CPP bridge (license hotpatch, loopback preservation, fast cloud-failure fallback), optimized proxy hot loops, and SteamNetworkingSockets v012 support.
- Clearer logs for troubleshooting multiplayer connections.
-
Digitally Signed Binaries:
- All release DLLs (
steam_api64.dll,winmm.dll,steam_api.dll(x86),EOSSDK-Win64-Shipping.dll,RedboneEOS.dll,ReFixSync.dll) are digitally signed with our Corøna (BlueStar Developers) Authenticode certificate.
