Changes in this release

  • A manager command such as cotal ps, cotal stop or cotal spawn --on, and cotal send with the other commands that open a one-shot connection, now connects again when the broker refuses the connection or it does not open within 5 seconds: nothing was sent, so up to 4 attempts are made 1 second apart. A view the auth service refused for a moment, or an auth service that answered after the broker's callout timeout, now just works. These commands used to stop at the first refusal, or wait 20 seconds and end as OPERATION_UNKNOWN (exit 3) with a bare timeout. When every attempt fails, the command says nothing was sent and is refused, exit 2: PERMISSION_DENIED when the broker refused each attempt and TARGET_UNAVAILABLE when none opened in time. An endpoint takes a transportConnectTimeoutMs option for its first connect.
  • Use Node's native Ed25519 signer for NATS user credentials, auth-callout responses and authority-client renewals, reducing signing CPU cost while preserving the existing key formats, signature bytes and authorization checks.
  • A command in a project folder whose stack is stopped with no registration, as after the down of a
space not named after its folder or in a moved project, now refuses TARGET_UNAVAILABLE with another
space selected too, naming the space its account names and cotal up there. It used to reach the
selected space, so send stored the message there and ps listed that space's manager.
  • cotal up now refuses CONFLICT, exit 2, when its address is one that a space registered for
another folder keeps while stopped, naming that space and folder, and starts nothing. It used to start
there, after which that stack's down refused and a read in the other folder deleted that space's
registration. A takeover of that space's name is unchanged.
  • A second bare cotal down in a stopped project whose space is named after its folder now reports
that the stack there is not running, names cotal up, and exits 0. Since that space keeps its
registration after down, it exited 1 with only "Nothing running for the local stack (no recorded
    pidfiles)." and no next step.
  • Keep self-update installation and reconciliation running safely after Ctrl-C, then exit with the interruption status once the package tree is usable.
