Release v1.5 – Changelog (for GitHub)

Added

  • Batch download for Video (MP4) and Audio (MP3): download multiple links in a row, output folder is remembered
  • New menu structure: separate entries for YouTube, TikTok and Instagram Reels (MP4 & MP3 each)
  • FFmpeg installation inside the tool + CLI flag --install-ffmpeg (with fallback without winget)
  • Optional cookies.txt support (important for Instagram Reels / login-only content)

Changed

  • MP4 now prefers best quality (best MP4 video + best M4A audio, merged to MP4 when FFmpeg is available)
  • YouTube Shorts are supported automatically (Shorts URLs are normalized)
  • Cleaner UI/UX: fewer popups, more console feedback + batch summary
  • Updated requirements (yt-dlp in requirements.txt)
  • WindowsAutoCompiler.bat now correctly shows converter.py as the script

Fixed

  • --install-ffmpeg now works without winget as well
  • Empty download path no longer creates weird filenames (default: current folder + title)

Notes

  • MP3 download requires FFmpeg (without FFmpeg, MP3 mode will not run)
  • Instagram Reels often require cookies.txt for reliable downloads
