Herald is a new Showrunner part that sends an application's email: templates and images read from files, strict rendering, SMTP delivery with retries, and facts about what was sent.

Added

  • Cratis.Showrunner.Herald: AddHerald registers Herald in an Arc and Chronicle host; IEmails.Send renders an email of a given kind from the templates folder and queues it, refusing to send when a value is unknown or a required value is missing (#67)
  • Templates per email kind and language with subject and preview text, Handlebars-style {{values}} that are always HTML-encoded, #if and a date helper that formats in the email's language, and a generated plain-text alternative
  • Images from an images folder embedded in the email; CSS from the template is inlined for email clients
  • SMTP delivery (STARTTLS, TLS or none for local relays) with retries and backoff when the server is unavailable, and a folder transport that writes .eml files for local development
  • Cratis.Showrunner.Herald.Contracts: EmailSent, EmailFailed and EmailBounced, recorded against what the email was about without the recipient, the values or any secret
