本次更新

• 详情与 Topic 面板： 增加固定标题和关闭按钮，调整工具栏间距与详情内容宽度。关闭按钮无常驻边框，悬停和按下时提供更清晰的反馈。
• 更协调的半透明界面： 调整面板、菜单项、操作按钮和选中状态的底色与细边框。Topic 选择器保留白色底色，与灰色切换开关区分。
• 更清楚的阅读进度： 统一阅读器、书籍卡片和详情页的已读／未读配色。阅读器滑块手柄加长至 22 × 10 px，上下控制栏采用统一半透明底色与细分隔线。
• 缩略图选区： 图片和页码作为完整选区，修正交互高亮的上、左、右留白，让悬停和选中反馈更一致。
• 多书自定义排序： 浮动预览改为紧凑的封面与标题扇形卡片，显示选择数量并保持稳定的指针偏移。
• 后台加载调度： 对已确认支持随机访问的非固实压缩源，限量并发准备页面和缩略图，优先处理当前可见内容。快速跳页或关闭后淘汰过期请求，避免旧结果重新显示。固实、能力不明的压缩源及 PDF 保持原有串行准备策略。
• 使用文档： 补充完整中文、日文手册，澄清标签创建和不同系统的存储路径。
• Windows 文字排版： 修正省略文字标签在字体行距小于完整行框时少分配 1 px 的问题，保留完整文字高度，不放大面板或控件。
• 图片格式兼容： 旧版 Qt 无法加载原生解码库时，在后台使用已有的 Pillow 解码并预缩放，修复 Ubuntu ARM64 的 WebP 阅读、缩略图与封面预览。

macOS 首次启动： 打开 DMG，把 JoyRead 拖进应用程序文件夹，再从该文件夹启动。应用使用 ad-hoc 签名，未经过 Apple 公证。如果系统提示无法验证应用，在确认下载来源后：

1. 点击**「完成」**，不要点击「移到废纸篓」。
2. 打开苹果菜单 → 系统设置 → 隐私与安全性。
3. 在**「安全性」**中找到 JoyRead 被阻止的提示。
4. 点击**「仍要打开」**，按提示确认或验证身份。

安装新副本后可能需要再次确认。如果 Launchpad 尚未显示，请先从「应用程序」直接打开。

升级与兼容性

从 1.3.0 升级不新增数据库迁移，保留书库、合集、标签、自定义排序、封面、阅读进度和每本书的阅读设置。建议升级前备份书库。预加载默认仍为前 4／后 8；Windows 后台模式及自动空闲清理默认保持开启。支持 ZIP/CBZ、7z/CB7、RAR/CBR 和 PDF，EPUB 仍未启用。

验证

四平台在构建 38928032902中分别先测试发行配置，再构建安装包；使用同一冻结源提交 4847ff1ddecf0bb8281670b6741c7ab8f28145c1 和 Python 3.12.9，EPUB 门控保持关闭。

两个 Ubuntu 安装包均通过 APT 安装、隔离书库启动和 WebP Reader 首帧烟测；amd64 的 289 个、arm64 的 288 个 ELF 文件均满足 glibc ≤ 2.35。四份安装包的版本、架构、完整构建提交和 SHA-256 均已核对，逐平台来源保存在 build-info.json。

独立回归 CI的五个任务全部通过，另覆盖 Ubuntu 24.04 和 macOS 的 EPUB 额外依赖配置。本机最终 125% 离屏 UI 及图片链路检查为 145 项通过；这些自动化结果不替代桌面手动验收。

手动验收：维护者于 2026-10-20 确认 macOS、Windows、Ubuntu 三端测试均通过。 CI 使用离屏环境，与桌面手动验收分开记录。1.3.1 作为稳定版发布。

已知限制

极大尺寸的渐进 JPEG 页面在解码时仍可能明显增加进程内存。预缩放与缓存预算正常，进一步的内存优化已列为低优先级后续工作。

読書画面を見やすく、ページの準備をよりスムーズに。ジョイヨミ 1.3.1 では、詳細・ナビゲーションパネル、進行バー、複数冊のドラッグ表示を調整し、ランダムアクセス可能な圧縮元のバックグラウンド読み込みを改善しました。

更新内容

• 詳細・Topic パネル： 固定の見出しと閉じるボタンを追加し、ツールバーの余白と詳細領域の幅を調整しました。閉じるボタンの枠は常時表示せず、ホバーと押下の表示を明確にしました。
• 半透明の配色を調整： パネル、メニュー項目、操作ボタン、選択状態の背景と細い枠線を整えました。Topic セレクターは白い背景を保ち、グレーの切り替えスイッチと区別します。
• 進行状況を見やすく： リーダー、本のカード、詳細画面で既読・未読の配色を統一しました。リーダーのつまみを 22 × 10 px に広げ、上下の操作バーには均一な半透明背景と細い区切り線を使用します。
• サムネイルの選択範囲： 画像とページ番号を一つの範囲として扱い、上・左右のハイライト余白を揃えてホバー・選択表示を改善しました。
• 複数冊のカスタム並べ替え： ドラッグ中は表紙とタイトルだけのコンパクトなカードを扇状に表示します。選択数を示し、ポインターからの位置を安定させました。
• バックグラウンド読み込み： ランダムアクセスを確認できた非ソリッド圧縮元では、ページとサムネイルの準備を制限付きで並列実行し、表示中の内容を優先します。素早い移動や終了で古くなった要求を取り下げ、以前の結果が再表示されるのを防ぎます。ソリッド圧縮、アクセス能力が不明な圧縮元、PDF は従来の直列準備を維持します。
• 使い方の文書： 中国語・日本語の完全なマニュアルを追加し、タグ作成と各 OS の保存先を明確にしました。
• Windows の文字配置： ベースライン間隔が行全体の高さより短い場合に、省略表示ラベルの高さが 1 px 足りなくなる問題を修正しました。パネルや操作部を拡大せずに、文字に必要な高さを確保します。
• 画像形式の互換性： 古い Qt でネイティブコーデックを読み込めない場合は、既存の Pillow でバックグラウンドのデコードと事前縮小を行います。Ubuntu ARM64 の WebP 読書、サムネイル、表紙プレビューを修正しました。

更新と互換性

1.3.0 からの更新では新しいデータベース移行はありません。蔵書、コレクション、タグ、カスタム順序、表紙、読書位置、本ごとの設定を保持します。更新前の蔵書バックアップを推奨します。先読みは引き続き前 4／後 8 ページが初期値です。Windows のバックグラウンドモードと待機中の自動メモリ解放も初期設定で有効です。ZIP/CBZ、7z/CB7、RAR/CBR、PDF に対応し、EPUB は引き続き無効です。

検証

4 対象ではビルド 38928032902で出荷構成をテストしてからパッケージを作成しました。固定のソースコミットは 4847ff1ddecf0bb8281670b6741c7ab8f28145c1、Python は 3.12.9 です。EPUB のゲートは無効のままです。

Ubuntu の両パッケージは APT インストール、独立した蔵書での起動、WebP Reader の初回フレームのスモークテストを通過しました。amd64 の 289 個、arm64 の 288 個の ELF ファイルは、すべて glibc ≤ 2.35 を満たします。4 パッケージのバージョン、アーキテクチャ、完全なビルドコミット、SHA-256 を照合済みです。対象ごとのビルド情報は build-info.json に保持しています。

独立した回帰 CIも 5 ジョブすべて成功し、Ubuntu 24.04 と macOS の EPUB 追加依存関係構成も確認しました。ローカルでの最終 125% オフスクリーン UI・画像処理の検証は 145 テスト成功です。これらの自動検証はデスクトップの手動確認を代替しません。

手動確認：2026-10-20 に、メンテナーが macOS・Windows・Ubuntu の全環境でテスト成功を確認しました。 CI はオフスクリーン環境で実行し、デスクトップの手動確認とは別に記録します。1.3.1 を安定版として公開します。

既知の制限

非常に大きなプログレッシブ JPEG のページでは、デコード中にプロセスのメモリ使用量が大きくなる場合があります。事前縮小とキャッシュ予算は機能しており、追加のメモリ最適化は優先度の低い今後の項目です。

A clearer reading interface and smoother page preparation. JoyRead 1.3.1 refines Detail and navigation panels, progress indicators, and multi-book drag previews, and improves background loading for random-access archives.

What's improved

• Detail and Topic panels: fixed title/close rows, refined toolbar spacing, and more room for Detail content. Close buttons keep a borderless resting state with clearer hover and pressed feedback.
• Balanced translucent surfaces: refined backgrounds and thin borders for panels, menu items, action buttons, and selection states. The Topic selector retains its white background, distinct from gray switches.
• Clearer reading progress: matching read/unread colors across the Reader, book cards, and Detail. The Reader handle is now 22 × 10 px; top and bottom controls use uniform translucent backgrounds with subtle separators.
• Thumbnail selection: images and page numbers share one selection area, with aligned top/left/right highlight insets and more consistent hover and selected states.
• Multi-book custom sorting: compact cover/title cards form a fan while dragging, with a selection count and a stable pointer offset.
• Background loading: confirmed random-access, non-solid sources use bounded concurrent page and thumbnail preparation, favoring visible content. Rapid navigation and closing retire obsolete requests so stale results cannot reappear. Solid archives, unknown-access sources, and PDFs retain their existing serial preparation policy.
• Documentation: complete Chinese and Japanese manuals, with clearer tag-creation instructions and platform-specific storage paths.
• Windows text layout: elided labels retain a full font line box when baseline spacing is shorter, preventing a one-pixel shortfall without enlarging panels or controls.
• Image-format compatibility: when an older Qt build cannot load a native codec, existing Pillow codecs decode and pre-scale in workers, restoring Ubuntu ARM64 WebP reading, thumbnails, and cover previews.

隆重推出 Windows 专属功能：再次启动加速。

关闭窗口，下一次阅读仍然随时就绪。新的后台模式让欣阅保留在系统托盘中，再次打开书库或通过资源管理器打开漫画、PDF 时，可复用正在运行的进程，减少重复启动的等待。

• 关闭窗口，保持就绪： 后台模式默认开启。首次关闭最后一个窗口时，可选择「保持运行」或「退出欣阅」。在设置 → 通用中可关闭后台模式，恢复关闭最后一个窗口即退出。
• 从托盘继续阅读： 重新打开书库，选择漫画或 PDF 直接阅读、无需导入，查看当前内存占用，手动清理内存缓存，或彻底退出。
• 自动清理闲置内存： 默认在所有窗口关闭 60 秒后清理可重建的内存缓存；若仍有后台任务，则等待任务完成。延迟可设为 1–3600 秒，也可关闭自动清理。此功能不会设置 Windows 登录自启动。

其他更新

• 更轻快的启动： 从系统「打开方式」打开文件时直接进入阅读器，无需先加载书库。正常启动时先显示书库窗口，书籍在后台载入，设置和直接打开书籍仍可使用。
• 打开与导入更清晰： 直接打开文件不会复制或入库；「打开并导入」可边读边导入，并支持取消。拖到书库「阅读」区域时是否同时导入，可单独设置。
• 默认阅读偏好： 在设置中预设阅读方向、布局等选项，用于临时打开的文件和未保存独立阅读设置的书籍；已有书籍偏好继续保留。
• 全屏与长页阅读： 按 F 进入全屏，Esc 退出；全屏时页面与阅读器边缘使用直角。横向阅读的「适应宽度」支持滚轮、触控板和 ↑ / ↓ 上下移动，长按可连续移动；到页边停止，左右翻页后从新页顶部开始。调整窗口或切换全屏时尽量保留阅读位置。
• 更稳定的书库切换： 独立打开的外部书籍在切换书库时继续阅读；依赖旧书库的阅读器会先保存再关闭。改善加载失败后的重试，减少调整窗口和无关设置时的重复加载。
• 界面细节优化： 改善 Windows 窗口前台激活与菜单边缘，补齐中日文字体 Medium 字重，并让不可用的从属设置统一变灰。

すばやく読書に戻り、もっと手軽に本を開く。ジョイヨミ 1.3.0 では、起動の改善、既定の読書設定、全画面表示と幅に合わせた表示の操作を追加しました。

Windows 限定：2 回目以降の起動を高速化

Windows 限定の新機能として、2 回目以降の起動高速化をご紹介します。

ウィンドウを閉じても、次の読書に備えて待機します。新しいバックグラウンドモードでは通知領域に常駐し、ライブラリを再び開く場合や、エクスプローラーから漫画・PDF を開く場合に、実行中のプロセスを再利用して起動の待ち時間を減らします。

• 閉じても待機： 初期設定で有効です。最後のウィンドウを初めて閉じる際に、実行を続けるかジョイヨミを終了するかを選べます。設定 → 一般で無効にすると、最後のウィンドウを閉じた時点で終了します。
• トレイから読書を再開： ライブラリを開く、漫画や PDF を取り込まずに読む、現在のメモリ使用量を確認する、メモリキャッシュを手動で解放する、完全に終了する操作ができます。
• 待機中のメモリを自動解放： 初期設定では、すべてのウィンドウを閉じてから 60 秒後に再生成可能なメモリキャッシュを解放します。バックグラウンド処理が残っている場合は完了を待ちます。待機時間は 1–3600 秒に変更でき、自動解放を無効にもできます。Windows ログイン時の自動起動は設定しません。

その他の更新

• 軽快な起動： OS の「プログラムから開く」ではライブラリを先に読み込まず、直接リーダーを開きます。通常起動ではライブラリのウィンドウを先に表示して本をバックグラウンドで読み込み、その間も設定や本を直接開く操作が使えます。
• 開く操作と取り込みを整理： 直接開くだけではファイルをコピーしたり蔵書へ追加したりしません。「開いて取り込む」では読みながら取り込め、取り込みをキャンセルできます。ライブラリの「読む」領域へのドロップ時に取り込むかどうかも個別に設定できます。
• 既定の読書設定： 読む方向やレイアウトなどを設定画面で指定し、一時的に開いたファイルや個別設定のない本に適用できます。保存済みの本ごとの設定は維持されます。
• 全画面表示と縦長ページ： F で全画面に入り、Esc で戻ります。全画面ではページとリーダーの外周を角丸なしで表示します。横方向の読書で「幅に合わせる」を選ぶと、ホイール、トラックパッド、↑ / ↓ で上下に移動でき、キーの長押しにも対応します。ページ端で止まり、左右キーでページをめくると新しいページの先頭から表示します。サイズ変更や全画面の切り替え時も、可能な範囲で読書位置を維持します。
• ライブラリ切り替えを安定化： 独立して開いた外部ファイルは切り替え中も読み続けられます。元のライブラリに依存するリーダーは保存してから閉じます。読み込み失敗時の再試行を改善し、サイズ変更や無関係な設定変更による重複読み込みを減らしました。
• UI の調整： Windows でのウィンドウの前面表示とメニューの縁を改善し、中国語・日本語フォントの Medium ウェイトを追加しました。無効な従属設定は一貫してグレー表示になります。

Close the window. Stay ready for your next read. The new background mode keeps JoyRead in the notification area, reusing the running process when you reopen the Library or open a comic or PDF from Explorer, so there is less startup work to wait for.

• Close and stay ready: background mode is enabled by default. The first time you close the last window, choose Keep running or Quit JoyRead. Disable it in Settings → General to exit when the last window closes.
• Pick up from the tray: reopen the Library, choose a comic or PDF to read without importing, view current memory usage, clear memory caches, or quit completely.
• Automatic idle cleanup: by default, rebuildable memory caches are cleared 60 seconds after all windows close, waiting for any remaining background work to finish. Set the delay to 1–3600 seconds or disable automatic cleanup. This feature does not enable startup at Windows sign-in.

What's new across platforms

• A lighter startup: opening a file through your system's Open With goes straight to its Reader without loading the Library first. A normal launch shows the Library window before loading books in the background; settings and direct book opening remain available.
• Clearer open and import choices: opening a file in place does not copy it or add it to your Library. Open & Import lets you read while a cancellable import runs. A separate preference controls whether dropping a file onto the Library's Read zone also imports it.
• Default reading preferences: choose reading direction, layout, and other defaults for temporary files and books without saved individual settings. Existing per-book preferences remain in place.
• Fullscreen and tall-page reading: press F for fullscreen and Esc to leave, with square page and reader edges in fullscreen. In horizontal Fit to Width, use the wheel, trackpad, or ↑ / ↓ to move vertically; hold an arrow to keep moving. Scrolling stops at page edges, while left/right page turns start the new page at the top. Resizing or switching fullscreen preserves your position where page bounds allow.
• More reliable Library switching: independently opened external books stay usable while switching libraries. Readers tied to the old Library save before closing. Recovery retries use the selected Library, and window resizing or unrelated settings changes avoid unnecessary reloads.
• UI refinements: improved Windows foreground activation and menu edges, bundled Medium-weight Chinese/Japanese fonts, and consistent dimming of unavailable dependent settings.

What's new

• Progress-bar thumbnail previews: hover for 180 ms or start dragging for an immediate preview. The bubble shows an image above its 1-based page number at 80% opacity and adjusts at window edges. Missing images use a compact Loading message that expands when the image arrives. Leaving fades it out over 320 ms; returning during the fade restores it immediately.
• Preview without interrupting reading: release to jump. Esc, right-click while holding left, window deactivation, or releasing outside the window cancels. Page-load completion no longer pulls an active slider back. Previews share Topic's thumbnail cache and retain only the latest waiting target during fast movement. Solid or unknown-access archive sources use existing caches without triggering extraction for previews.
• Adjustable preloading: global Reader settings default to 4 previous and 8 following pages, adjustable to 0–10 and 0–20. Zero disables background preloading on that side. Changes synchronize across open readers and survive restart. Fixes cover right-to-left prefetch bias and double-page boundaries.
• Smoother thumbnails: Detail and Topic reprioritize loading as you scroll, favor visible pages, reuse images and widgets, and reduce duplicate decoding. Detail, Topic, and the cover picker now show page numbers; either the image or its number selects the page.
• Menus that fit: book, collection, bookmark, and dropdown menus adjust their opening direction to the available window space. Tall menus scroll; narrow menus expose elided text through full tooltips.
• Remembered window sizes: Library and independent Reader sizes are saved separately, with a General settings button to restore defaults. Small screens fit the available area while respecting minimum dimensions and positioning the title bar at the top-left.
• Compact layouts and sidebar sections: expanded search adapts its width while retaining filters. Settings controls move below labels when a row is too narrow. Bookshelf and Collections collapse independently and remember their state. Headers support mouse and Enter/Space, with improved pressed feedback and less flicker.
• Mouse interaction fixes: selecting a book no longer leaves a stale hand cursor or hover state. Clicking the shelf toolbar title or blank space clears selection while preserving Shift, search, and button behavior.

• Custom shelf order: All, Favourites, Hidden Space and individual collections
  remember their own order and sort preference. New members appear at the front;
  Recent keeps reading-time order. Search and filters preserve saved positions.
• Selection and dragging: grid and list both support rectangle selection.
  Shift-click toggles selection; Shift-drag selects even when started on a book.
  Drag without Shift to reorder in unfiltered Custom mode. Selected books move
  in their displayed order, with one insertion placeholder and up to three
  preview cards. Esc, right-click while holding left, or release outside cancels.
• Smoother interaction: reuse cards and rows, update only changed content,
  cache blurred snapshots, and smoothly blend the file-drop confirmation state.
  Disabled switches show neither side selected.
• Sharper thumbnails: bookshelf covers, Detail thumbnails and Reader Topic

Upgrade and testing notes

• This release adds database migration 14 for scoped sorting. Back up the
  library before upgrading; restore the backup if returning to the older release.
• Existing custom cover crops remain authoritative. Old low-resolution custom
  covers need to be saved again from their original source for native sharpness.
• EPUB remains disabled. Supported manga/archive/PDF workflows remain in scope.
• Native Windows/Ubuntu gesture behavior, physical mixed-DPI monitor moves,
  and installer upgrade/uninstall checks remain pending for this release.
• macOS remains Apple Silicon only. Existing signing/notarization and Linux
  graphical-installer limitations from 1.0.2 still apply.

验证状态

ZIP/CBZ、7z/CB7、RAR/CBR、PDF に対応。ドラッグ＆ドロップで読む・取り込む、OS の「このアプリで開く」、カード/リスト表示、タグ、コレクション、非表示スペースを使えます。詳細画面でタイトル・著者・言語をダブルクリックして変更し、表紙のダブルクリックで編集できます。対応する meta.json / ComicInfo.xml を含む漫画は、取り込み時にタイトル・著者・タグ・言語を反映できます。

暗号化された漫画は読めますが、インポートはできません。非表示は GUI 上の機能で、ファイルは暗号化しません。 復号したページキャッシュは平文で保存し、初期設定では本を閉じると削除します。7z、RAR、ZipCrypto ZIP では補助プロセスのコマンドラインにパスワードが一時的に現れる場合があります。AES ZIP はアプリ内で復号します。EPUB は未有効化で、solid RAR の性能は未検証です。

検証状況

Linux compatibility rebuild · 2026-09-13

The Linux amd64 and arm64 installers have been rebuilt on Ubuntu 22.04. Their Debian package version is 1.0.2-1; the application remains 1.0.2. This fixes ARM64 Shiboken's newer-glibc requirement and a C++ runtime mismatch, with a small cover-editor signal lifetime fix for Qt 6.8. If you downloaded an earlier Linux installer, download it again and use the APT command below to upgrade.

Each architecture passed 1557 tests (10 skipped), APT installation, a check that every bundled ELF requires glibc ≤ 2.35, and startup of the installed executable with an isolated library. macOS and Windows assets are unchanged. The graphical installer's Preparing issue remains unresolved.

What's new

• A more complete three-language experience. New profiles follow the system language across macOS, Windows, and Ubuntu/Linux, choosing English, Simplified Chinese, or Japanese with English fallback. Existing explicit language choices survive upgrades.
• Localized in-app names: 欣阅 / JoyRead / ジョイヨミ. Installer names, application identity, and data paths stay JoyRead.
• Live language switching updates open windows, menus, and dialogs while preserving input, reading state, and background tasks. Translation fixes cover Hidden Space, recovery screens, tag operations, reader prompts, and tooltips. Chinese/Japanese Qt widget translations are bundled.
• Archive and cache fixes improve cache ownership, staging, and resource cleanup.
• Safer library resets wait for SQLite to release its files, fixing a shutdown/reset race on Windows.
• Packaging improvements cover macOS arm64, Windows x64, and Linux amd64/arm64, including Windows UTF-8 tests and Miniforge libffi compatibility.

Ubuntu: install from the terminal only. The graphical installer gets stuck at “Preparing”; this issue has not been fixed. Open a terminal in the download folder and run the command for your package above.

SHA256SUMS contains the installer checksums. build-info.json records version, source commit, target, and Python version. Linux packages were built on Ubuntu 22.04; compatibility with every Linux distribution is not implied. Intel Mac packages are not provided.

First launch: the macOS build is ad-hoc signed but not Apple-notarized. If blocked, verify the download source and use System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway. Windows installers have no trusted code signature; SmartScreen may appear. After verifying the source, use More info → Run anyway if offered.

Read now, organise for later

Read ZIP/CBZ, 7z/CB7, RAR/CBR, and PDF. Drag a book onto Read to open it immediately or Import to keep a managed copy. JoyRead can also be selected through your OS's Open With integration. Switch between cards and lists, organise tags and collections, and keep selected books out of the ordinary shelf with Hidden Space.

In book details, double-click the title, author, or language to adjust it, or double-click the cover to edit it. Supported embedded meta.json / ComicInfo.xml metadata can populate the title, author, tags, and language during import.

Known limitations

• Encrypted comics are readable but cannot be imported. Passwords are used for the current reading session only.
• Hidden Space only hides content in the GUI; it does not encrypt files.
• Decrypted page caches are plaintext. Delete cached pages when closing is enabled by default. For 7z, RAR, and legacy ZipCrypto ZIP, helper command-line passwords may be briefly visible to same-user processes. AES ZIP is decrypted in-process.
• EPUB / light novel reading remains disabled. Solid-RAR performance remains unverified.
• Native desktop validation for this version remains pending: fresh installation, upgrade/uninstall, OS file activation, language switching across multiple windows, native dialogs, and Ubuntu Wayland/X11 behavior.

Build and validation

macOS and Windows retain source commit 88ff97e2e386ab749f5a024ab65fe1c7f662f826 from run 34670838470. Linux installers use ab9e82cf5cd4f39530758d642f9e59c709dfa5d9 from Ubuntu 22.04 rebuild 34746301590. All use Python 3.12.9. Per-target provenance and the updated checksums are included in Assets; the original release tag is retained.

JoyRead 1.0.1 makes window management behave on all three platforms, and is the
first release with native installers for Windows and Ubuntu/Debian.

macOS users on 1.0.0 should update: dragging a maximized window was unreliable
there in several distinct ways, all fixed here.

None of these is code-signed. Every platform will warn you the first time.
That is expected for this release, and each section below says exactly what
you will see and what to do about it.

Installing

macOS

Open the .dmg and drag JoyRead to Applications. The first launch will be
blocked, with "JoyRead" Not Opened — Apple could not verify "JoyRead" is free
of malware that may harm your Mac or compromise your privacy.

That is expected. JoyRead is signed ad-hoc rather than notarised by Apple, so
Apple has nothing to check it against. Allow it once:

1. Click Done on that message. Do not click Move to Bin.
2. Open the Apple menu → System Settings.
3. Click Privacy & Security in the sidebar.
4. Scroll to Security near the bottom. You will see
   "JoyRead" was blocked to protect your Mac.
5. Click Open Anyway, and confirm if macOS asks.

You only need to do this once per install.

You may also find JoyRead missing from Launchpad until you have opened it once
from the Applications folder — same cause, and it resolves after the first
successful launch.

Windows

Run the installer. SmartScreen will warn you with "Windows protected your
PC", because the installer is unsigned. Choose More info → Run anyway if
you are happy to proceed.

The installer is built with Inno Setup and replaces the MSI used during
development. It registers JoyRead for CBZ, CBR, CB7, ZIP, RAR, 7Z and PDF
without displacing whatever already handles them.

Ubuntu / Debian

sudo apt install ./JoyRead-1.0.1-linux-amd64.deb

Do not double-click the .deb on Ubuntu 22.04. The Ubuntu Software snap
cannot install local packages and will hang at "Preparing…". Use the command
above; APT resolves the dependencies.

Installs to /opt/joyread with a desktop entry, icon, and MIME associations for
CBZ, CBR, CB7, ZIP, RAR, 7Z and PDF. Installing never replaces an existing
default handler.

To remove: sudo apt remove joyread.

What's fixed

Window management

• A click on the title bar no longer un-maximizes the window before a drag has
  begun, which also restores double-click-to-zoom.
• Dragging a maximized window on macOS no longer flickers, stalls, or jumps away
  from the point you grabbed.
• Linux and Windows now let the window manager place a restored window, instead
  of racing it with a second client-side placement.
• A tiled window you have since resized keeps that size when you next drag it,
  rather than snapping back to a stale remembered size.
• The Library no longer collapses to a single column with the sidebar and the
  vertical scrollbar both open.

Packaging and performance

• Native .deb and Windows installers, as above.
• The Linux launcher no longer appears twice in application menus.
• Faster packaged startup and resource loading.

Maintenance

• Removed the development-only Windows/Linux title-control preview from
  Settings. Each platform's production window controls are unchanged.
• Removed the development JSON-manifest picker from the import menu. Manifest
  import remains available to scripts and internal tooling.

Known limitations

• Nothing here is code-signed, as above.
• EPUB reading exists in the codebase but is disabled; the novel reader is not
  finished.
• Pages extracted from encrypted archives are cached unencrypted. Settings →
  Privacy → "Delete cached pages when closing" is on by default, so they do not
  outlive the session.
• Archive passwords are passed to the bundled 7-Zip executable on its command
  line, so they are readable by other processes running as you during
  extraction. This affects 7z, RAR, and ZIP using the legacy ZipCrypto cipher.
  AES-encrypted ZIP is not affected — it is decrypted in-process.
• Solid-RAR performance is unverified; no solid RAR sample was available, so the
  7z thread policy is applied to RAR by extrapolation.

JoyRead 1.0.0

⚠️ First launch — macOS will say JoyRead is damaged

It isn't. This build carries an ad-hoc signature rather than an Apple
Developer ID certificate, and macOS shows that same message for any app it
cannot check with Apple.

After dragging JoyRead to your Applications folder, run this once in Terminal:

xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /Applications/JoyRead.app

Then open it normally — you only need to do this once. The disk image repeats

Because the app is unsigned, it may also not appear under Apps/Launchpad until
you have opened it once from the Applications folder.

Requirements

macOS 13 or later, Apple Silicon. Windows and Linux are not published yet.

Reading

• ZIP/CBZ, 7z/CB7, RAR/CBR, and PDF
• Single- and two-page spreads with automatic spread detection
• Fit modes, reading direction including right-to-left, page transitions
• Bookmarks, table of contents, thumbnail navigation
• Per-book resume and reader settings

Library

• Import into a managed library, or open files in place
• Collections, tags, favourites, reading history
• Cover thumbnails with a cover editor
• Search, sort, filter
• Hidden Space for books kept off the main shelf
• The library folder can be moved, re-pointed, or reset

Performance

• Expensive archives (solid 7z, RAR, encrypted) are converted once in the
  background into a shared extraction pool. On a 124 MB solid 7z this moved
  page-turn p95 from 355 ms to 58 ms.
• The bundled 7-Zip helper is the primary 7z read path, which moved
  page-prepare p95 on that sample from ~1410 ms to ~300 ms.
• PDF pages render asynchronously, so decoding never stalls the UI.
• Page, thumbnail, and extraction-pool budgets are all configurable.

Known limitations

• EPUB is not enabled. The novel reader is in the codebase but switched off
  until it is finished.
• Pages from encrypted archives are cached unencrypted. Settings → Privacy →
  "Delete cached pages when closing" is on by default.
• Archive passwords are visible to same-user processes during extraction,
  for 7z, RAR, and ZIP using the legacy ZipCrypto cipher. AES-encrypted ZIP is
  decrypted in-process and unaffected.
• RAR is read-only, and by the terms of the bundled unRAR code JoyRead's RAR
  support may not be used to build a RAR-compatible archiver.
• Solid-RAR performance is unverified.
