Solid GPUI v0.5.2

Choose a tag to compare

@Cyenoch Cyenoch released this 29 Sep 10:35

Fixed

  • Fix #8: native navigation blockers now work without a DOM in Bun and QuickJS.
  • SDK-owned memory history checks push, replace, back, forward, and go before changing the stack. RouterCore waits for confirmation before starting route loading.
  • Cancelled navigation preserves history, route state, loaders, and mounted owners. Approved navigation commits once.
  • New requests supersede pending decisions. Unregister and destroy cancel pending navigation; ignoreBlocker explicitly bypasses confirmation. Blocker errors reject the navigation call.

Upgrade

Install matching @solid-gpui/{core,vite,router,shiki}@0.5.2 packages and use native sources from v0.5.2. Rebuild the host and regenerate bindings. Blockers return true to cancel and false to proceed. Direct native history methods return promises; await them to handle confirmation failures. Window-close confirmation remains a separate host lifecycle concern.

Verification

Full local CI and security audits passed, including Rust checks, Clippy, native tests, generated contracts, package types and tests, installed tarball consumers, and the real QuickJS VM. Router tests cover all five navigation actions, owner preservation, async confirmation, supersession, unregister, destruction, errors, and ignoreBlocker. English/Chinese routing guides and website content were synchronized; all seven website tests and the frontend production build passed.

Gallery Desktop archives and SHA-256 files are attached by the cross-platform packaging workflow.

@Cyenoch Cyenoch released this 29 Sep 09:47

Fixed

  • Fix #7: export the JSX compiler-required applyRef helper from @solid-gpui/core/runtime.
  • Support callback identifiers, forwarded refs, assignment refs, and ordered nested callback arrays.
  • Keep host refs untracked while preserving their Solid owner and onCleanup lifecycle.
  • Add real TSX regression coverage through installed npm archives, the public test runner, and production Bun/QuickJS builds, including VirtualList handle command replies.

Upgrade

Install matching @solid-gpui/{core,vite,router,shiki}@0.5.1 packages and use native sources from v0.5.1. Rebuild the host and regenerate bindings. Callback return values are ignored; use onCleanup for cleanup.

Verification

Native format, check, Clippy, generated bindings, protocol goldens and Rust tests passed. SDK formatting, types, tests, packed-consumer checks and security audits passed. English/Chinese ref documentation and generated API surface were synchronized; website tests and frontend build passed.

Desktop archives and SHA-256 files are attached by the cross-platform packaging workflow.

Solid GPUI v0.5.0

Highlights

  • Reliable process shutdown (#4): cancel blocked commit reads independently of kill success, attempt cleanup after request errors, preserve failures, and distinguish requested from confirmed shutdown. Fault-injection regressions cover kill, status, wait and poisoned-lock paths, including an incomplete frame.
  • Public headless viewport tests (#5): inspect committed styles, accessibility/disabled state and virtual-list ranges; dispatch visible-range, layout and pointer observations; explicitly answer or reject core scroll commands. Event sequencing, captured revisions and epochs remain owned by TestHost. No private protocol imports or duplicate reducers are required.
  • Git-native doctor verification (#6): compare Cargo's resolved GPUI package sources and full revisions with the host SDK, including workspace inheritance and Cargo-managed checkouts. Correct Git patches pass; missing, registry, path-substituted and mismatched revisions fail. Existing path checks remain supported.

Upgrade

Install matching @solid-gpui/core, @solid-gpui/vite, @solid-gpui/router and @solid-gpui/shiki version 0.5.0. Pin native sources and the seven GPUI patches to v0.5.0 or commit 86a3179712c1bae66bb2c5ec3b79689d157eab7e, rebuild the host, and regenerate bindings.

Rust exhaustive RuntimeStatus matches must handle ShutdownRequested. On an unconfirmed shutdown error, commit reads are cancelled; join the reader, retain the adapter, and retry cleanup. An OS refusal cannot be represented as successful termination.

TestHost supplies explicit test observations, not pixel layout, native hit testing or Rust handler execution. Generated native command/event name lookup remains outside this release's testing extension.

Verification

  • Rust workspace check, strict Clippy, runtime/protocol tests and golden fixtures.
  • Package formatting/type checks, public TestHost and doctor regressions, real packed-consumer builds and test runner.
  • Dependency audit and regenerated third-party notices.
  • Website content tests and frontend build; synchronized English and Chinese guides.
  • Windows process-reader cross-compilation; platform release workflows qualify Gallery Desktop archives separately.

Gallery Desktop archives and SHA-256 files are attached after all platform packaging jobs pass. macOS archives are ad hoc signed, and Windows archives are unsigned.

Solid GPUI v0.4.1

@Cyenoch Cyenoch released this 29 Sep 07:32

Solid GPUI 0.4.1

Fixes

  • Fix macOS blurred window backgrounds with AppKit's Sidebar material and explicit behind-window blending. Remove the custom visual-effect subclass and private layer/filter rewriting; AppKit owns tint, saturation and accessibility adaptation. Resolves #3.
  • Reverify the existing output-dependent window-movement invalidation repair: passive movement preserves observers without rebuilding the full tree, while resize, scale, display, visual state and relevant pointer changes still invalidate. Resolves #2 at the implementation level; Windows native CPU qualification remains outstanding.
  • Fix a stale GPUI line-clamp test constructor for the 0.3.7 font-generation API.
  • Preserve LF native Rust contracts in Windows release checkouts.

Distribution

All four npm packages and the Rust workspace are versioned 0.4.1. Use the matching v0.4.1 native sources and rebuild your host to receive the macOS fix; updating JavaScript packages alone does not replace native code.

Release automation publishes @solid-gpui/core, @solid-gpui/vite, @solid-gpui/router and @solid-gpui/shiki, and attaches Gallery Desktop archives for macOS Apple Silicon, Linux x86-64 and Windows x86-64 when their respective workflows complete.

Gallery Desktop embeds QuickJS and requires no Bun or Node installation. macOS archives are ad hoc signed, not notarized; Windows archives are unsigned. Linux uses the Ubuntu 24.04 baseline and requires native system libraries and a working graphics stack.

Verification scope

Window-movement regressions passed 8/8. A real macOS 27.0 AppKit lifecycle test passed for initial blur, repeated enable, opaque/transparent transitions and repeated resizing. Website tests passed 7/7 with 3,132 assertions. Native property checks do not establish compositor blur quality: high-contrast background text, focus/movement, Reduce transparency and other supported macOS versions still require visual qualification.

Gallery Desktop is the native website application with an embedded QuickJS runtime; no Bun or Node installation is required. Download the archive for your platform and its SHA-256 file. macOS: Apple Silicon, ad hoc signed (not notarized). Linux: x86-64, built on Ubuntu 24.04, requires system libraries and a working graphics stack. Windows: x86-64, unsigned. Archives pass extraction, version and embedded UI checks; interactive desktop testing is still required.
