TidyFlow 2.3.1

Choose a tag to compare

@arpanz arpanz released this 14 Oct 11:47

Sorting works in the downloaded app again.

  • Fixed "Read-only file system: 'data'": the downloaded app couldn't save its working files, so sorting stopped with this error. They now go to TidyFlow's own folder in Application Support (AppData on Windows)

Download

Platform File
macOS TidyFlow.dmg: open it and drag TidyFlow into Applications
Windows 10/11 TidyFlow-windows.zip: unzip and run TidyFlow.exe

The builds aren't notarized yet, so the first launch shows a warning:

  • macOS: click Done, then open System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway next to TidyFlow. Or run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/TidyFlow.app in Terminal.
  • Windows: choose More info → Run anyway.

Folders that look the part.

  • Symbols, emoji and colours in Finder (macOS 26): every proposed folder gets a fitting symbol, like a receipt for Bills or a graduation cap for Courses. Click a folder's icon on the plan screen to choose another symbol, an emoji, or a colour, with a live preview of how it will look in Finder
  • Only on folders TidyFlow makes: folders that were already there are left alone, and Undo removes everything as before
  • Your choice: turn it off with "Folder symbols in Finder" on the review screen. Colour uses a Finder tag of the same colour, so it's off unless you pick one
  • On Windows and older macOS versions nothing changes

TidyFlow 2.2.3

Choose a tag to compare

@arpanz arpanz released this 14 Oct 11:10

Cleaner names when files share one.

  • Readable names for same-named files: TidyFlow puts files from all subfolders into one folder per category, so two different files can share a name. The second one is now named after the folder it came from, like IMG-0025 (compressedImages).jpg, or numbered like photo (2).jpg, instead of getting a random code
  • No extra copies: organizing into the same place again recognises files that are already there and skips them, instead of copying them a second time

TidyFlow 2.2.2

Choose a tag to compare

@arpanz arpanz released this 14 Oct 11:05

Better file names.

  • Names that say what's inside: "Use clearer file names" now only suggests a name when it describes the file, like invoice_inv00001_totals_2026-08-14.jpeg for a screenshot of an invoice's totals screen, or engineering_ethics_quiz_1_answers.pdf for quiz_1_ans.pdf
  • No more cosmetic renames: names that would only change case, punctuation or the date format (like Screenshot_2026-08-14-10-51-11… → screenshot_2026-08-14_10-51-11.jpg) are no longer suggested, so a file keeps its name when there's nothing better to say

TidyFlow 2.2.1

Choose a tag to compare

@arpanz arpanz released this 14 Oct 10:58

Safety fixes. Please update.

  • Password exports stay private: browser and password-manager exports (like passwords.csv from Chrome, Firefox or Bitwarden, and vault files like .kdbx) are now recognised and left alone. Nothing from them is read or sent to the AI. Earlier versions could send the first few lines of such a file to the AI, so if you've sorted a folder containing one, consider changing those passwords
  • Big files get sorted: files over the size limit (like large installers) are now placed by name and type instead of being stuck under "To review"
  • Your output folder sticks: choosing a folder to tidy no longer replaces the destination you picked

TidyFlow 2.2

Choose a tag to compare

@arpanz arpanz released this 14 Oct 10:42

Ask for a change.

  • Plain-language edits on the review screen: type things like "put all invoices in a new folder called Bills" or "give the screenshots clearer names". The wizard works on it, the changed files light up, and one click undoes it
  • Works on big folders: every file is checked, even in folders with thousands of files, and repeat requests are faster and cheaper
  • Start over anytime: clear the current sort from any step or from the home screen, and TidyFlow asks before throwing away an unfinished sort
  • Safer sorting: files the AI wasn't sure about are never organized without your say, duplicates and empty files are labelled, and each folder keeps its own plan
  • Tidier review: an expanded folder now uses the full width, and the file icon opens the file instead of its folder

Meet the wizard.

  • Animated mascot: the logo is now a vector character that hovers while TidyFlow reads your folder, flicks files into folders as sorting progresses, swoops in when you're done, and flies everything back on Undo
  • Calm by design: it only moves while TidyFlow is working, and stays still if your system has reduce-motion turned on
  • Sharper logo: vector everywhere, and it follows light and dark mode
  • Clearer privacy note: the home screen now says exactly what the AI sees

TidyFlow 2.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 04 Oct 10:41

A guided, beginner-friendly way to tidy any folder.

  • New flow: pick a folder → agree on folders → review → done, with one-click undo
  • Smarter sorting: reads file contents (PDFs, Office, code, scans via OCR), and the folders are proposed from what's actually in the folder
  • Safe by default: copies rather than moves, verifies every copy with SHA-256, never overwrites
