Release list
🚨 v0.33 is out: STEADY
patcher: de-pattern.github.io/dn2mk2/patcher.html
the stability release. thanks to everyone who reported bugs, especially Moog, CAT, Pablo Se7en, Kokozi, blskk and zuzsw.
fixed / new
- all audio cutting out until a restart (the most reported bug, often after white noise on a PERC track): a Machinedrum or Monomachine voice could run away and poison the delay/reverb. now every sample our voices make is held to a safe level, and a voice that goes bad is wiped on the spot, so it can't reach the effects
- SLICE / GRID YES menus dead after MACHINE SEL: fixed (no more pressing SYN first). also fixed: keys that stopped working after some FUNC combos, and the sample list grabbing YES/NO/arrows on another track
- the DSP no longer reads samples from outside the sample pool (another way to get silence)
- LFO DEPTH / SPEED snap with FUNC again on our tracks
- +DRIVE: FUNC + YES held previews a sample (first 10 s, like the DT2). MOVE SELECTED / MOVE HERE and NEW FOLDER in the RIGHT menu
- PROJECT RAM: YES ticks samples (YES again unticks), RIGHT acts on them, like +DRIVE and the DT2
- recorder: no DEST (it records into the first empty slot, so it can't overwrite a sample). SRC and CHAN are separate (A: IN / MAIN / TRK, B: L+R / L / R). TRIM zoom on F, G moves along
- FUNC + NO on the name screen deletes and steps back; hold it to clear
- slices at NOTE count from C1, like the DT2 (thanks blskk)
- SID starts on TRI when you pick it
- faster +DRIVE browsing with a big library
- the safety checks now include random button-mashing on the sample pages, voices started on garbage memory, 16 heavy voices with every control and effect moving, and an independent code review
test
- a busy PERC/MnM project for a while: does the audio stay? tweak the PERC track effects (FLTQ, EQ) hard
- SLICE track: MACHINE SEL to GRID and back, then YES: the menu opens
- LFO page on a PERC track: FUNC + turn DEPTH and SPEED snap
- +DRIVE: FUNC + YES held on a sample plays it. tick some, MOVE SELECTED, another folder, MOVE HERE
- record something: INTO shows the slot; on TRIM, F zooms
- install check: does a fresh project play right away, and an old one after a plain power-cycle?
known issues
- if all audio still cuts out, tell us which machine and what you were turning: the guard stops it spreading, but we still want the cause
- the sample-list freeze and silent samples (Kokozi) haven't been reproduced; videos and steps help a lot
- DPRO DDRW is the heaviest machine: its tables are in slow memory (next)
coming next (not available yet)
- PERC: another track's LFO menu showing when switching tracks (B10)
- moving the Monomachine tables to fast memory (lighter DDRW / DENS)
- a timing model of the unit for our emulators, to catch freezes before release
- per-project sample pools, capicola stretch, parameter slides

🚨 v0.32 is out: DSP
patcher: de-pattern.github.io/dn2mk2/patcher.html
this is the big CPU / dropout release. thanks to @complex_ping, whose research notes for his OVERTONE firmware showed us that on the real unit, DSP cost is mostly memory access, not instruction count.
fixed / new
- Machinedrum + MnM voices' working state moved into the DSP's fast internal memory (it was in slow external memory, which costs far more on hardware than our emulator showed)
- smarter CPU guard: it used to assume the stock engine's own work took a fixed share of each frame. with lots of voices that share grows, and the frame could overrun (the sound cutting out). now it measures it every frame and gives our voices only what's actually left
- DSP load meter: hold FUNC on a PERC or MnM page and the tempo spot shows the DSP load in %. please tell us your numbers!
- FUNC + turn on the custom machines (thanks for the detailed list): pitch jumps by octaves where it should, wave/mode/voice-type style controls step one choice per click, the rest don't move with FUNC. nothing gets stuck anymore
- new safety check on every build: the DSP hardware rules that emulators can't see (from complex_ping's tools), plus a stress test with 16 PERC voices and a heavy MnM mix
test
- hold FUNC on a PERC page with a pattern playing: note the % with a few PERC tracks, then add a MnM track or two
- 8 PERC tracks, dynamic voice allocation, busy pattern: does the sound stay?
- 2-3 heavy MnM tracks together (VO-6, DDRW, DENS): do they hold? VO-6 past one second?
- FUNC + turn: PERC PTCH (octaves), DPRO WAVE's wave (one per click), ONESHOT PLAY MODE (one per click)
known issues
- the fast-memory saving can't be measured in the emulator, so your meter readings are the real test
- MD/MnM tables and P-I delay lines still live in external memory (next, if the meter says they matter)
- +Drive library: no rename/preview/move/create folder yet, one pool for all projects
coming next (not available yet)
- your v0.31/v0.32 reports first: the +Drive library on real units, and the meter numbers
- per-project sample pools, library rename and preview
- cleanup of the retired engines' leftover code

🚨 v0.31 is out: DRIVE
patcher: de-pattern.github.io/dn2mk2/patcher.html
fixed / new
- the +Drive library: about 20 GB on the +Drive for your samples, in folders, up to 2,048 of them. FUNC+YES in the sample list now opens on PROJECT RAM (your slots, as before) or +DRIVE (the library)
- in +DRIVE: YES ticks samples, RIGHT gives LOAD TO PROJECT (into free slots, takes seconds) and LOAD TO TRK (loads it and puts the track on it), DELETE, SELECT ALL. a sample already in the project isn't loaded twice
- sending into the library: the import tool has a new mode, Into the +Drive library, which also lists what's on the +Drive and can delete. nothing in your project changes until you load it
- faster start: at power-on the samples your kit actually uses load first, so the pattern can play while the rest load. the waveform shows LOADING n%
- leaving the browser: NO goes up a level, NO held jumps to the top, any page key closes it
- PERC dropouts with dynamic voice allocation (thanks depaffect): finished Machinedrum voices kept eating DSP time, so with lots of PERC tracks the sound could cut out. now a voice that has died away stops costing anything until its next note
test
- power on with samples kept: LOADING n% on a sample track, and the pattern plays while it counts
- import tool → Into the +Drive library → send a few WAVs into a folder. on the unit: FUNC+YES, +DRIVE, your folder
- RIGHT on one → LOAD TO PROJECT: it gets a slot and plays. LOAD TO TRK on another: the track switches to it
- 8 PERC tracks, dynamic allocation, busy pattern: does it still cut out? (watch for CPU on the PERC page)
- NO / NO held / page keys behave as above
known issues
- not in the library yet: rename, preview, move, create folder, slices
- one sample pool for all projects for now (per-project pools come after v0.32)
- FUNC + turn on the custom machines' controls: fixed in v0.32
- heavy DSP use can still run out of time: v0.32 is the big fix for that
coming next (not available yet)
- v0.32: the Machinedrum and Monomachine voices' working state moved into the DSP's fast internal memory (thanks to complex_ping's research), a smarter CPU guard, a DSP load meter (hold FUNC on a PERC or MnM page), and FUNC + turn fixed
