v0.4.0 — Native context workbench
v0.4.0
A local browser workbench, budget-bounded context volumes, read-only MCP and simpler everyday commands.
What's new
- Local browser workbench. Run
moon-repomix --webui, then openhttp://127.0.0.1:8765. Browse the authorized workspace, compare original and processed code, select full/mixed/skeleton output, inspect the exact token budget and download JSON. The page calls the MoonBit Native backend through loopback HTTP. - Shorter CLI. Run
moon-repomixfor the current directory. Common options now have shorter forms such as--budget,--split,--lines,--diff,--logand--explain; size arguments accept forms such as8k.--helpshows the common workflow, and--help-alllists all options. Standard source builds and installed binaries locate their resources automatically. - Mixed full/structural context. Keep selected paths complete with
--keep-fullwhile compressing the rest. Add a header or instruction file, and control displayed chapters, line numbers and file-path labels. - Go, Rust and Java structural compression. Added native Tree-sitter grammars alongside MoonBit, JavaScript, TypeScript and Python. Complete signatures, types and original source ranges remain available; unsupported or unsuitable files retain their source.
- Exact context volumes. Every independently rendered volume must fit its o200k cap. Templates repeat, files and Git sections remain atomic, and a separately counted index describes the volumes. CLI directory publication uses same-parent staging and atomic no-replace publication.
- Read-only MCP and selection explanations. A host-authorized root bounds client requests. Clients build and read derived context resources or query why literal paths are selected or excluded. Failed builds preserve the previous successful resource context.
- Input limits and machine reports. Bounded source-file count and total raw-read bytes apply to both ordinary and volume packing.
--report-jsonwrites structured diagnostics to stderr while stdout remains the requested output.
Quick start
Download and extract the archive for macOS arm64, Linux x64 or Windows x64. Keep its directory layout intact; the executable and its accompanying resources are included.
moon-repomix
moon-repomix --webuiThe Mooncakes SDK is Delthin/moon_repomix@0.4.0. Runtime use does not require Node.js.
Upgrading from v0.3.0
The default CLI output is now Markdown (repomix-output.md). Use --style xml when retaining the previous XML workflow. New default source limits are 20,000 files and 200 MiB of raw reads. SDK users should review the added option/result fields and separate pack_volumes entry point in the migration guide.
Verification and performance
Release CI passed on macOS arm64, Linux x64 and Windows x64, including native tests, WebUI HTTP checks, exact volumes, MCP, installation and archive relocation. Linux additionally built the extracted source package and independently parsed XML/JSON outputs.
The fixed six-case Linux CLI benchmark measured 0.08–0.29 s Native versus 0.30–0.57 s Node wall-time medians, with lower Native RSS in all six cases. These are workload-specific results; the attached PERFORMANCE.md links the raw evidence and the larger-workload measurements.
SHA256SUMS covers the three platform archives, the canonical Mooncakes source ZIP and PERFORMANCE.md.
