v0.9.1 — Steam Deck fix
v0.9.1 — fix for Steam Deck and CPUs without AVX-512. v0.9.0 accidentally contained parts built for the build machine's CPU (AVX-512 / x86-64-v4). On the Steam Deck setup stopped with "CPU ISA level is lower than required". Everything in the package now targets x86-64-v3 (AVX2) at most, and the package build checks this automatically. If you downloaded v0.9.0, please use this version instead.
Release package of the native Linux port of TimeSplitters 2 (PS2, NTSC-U SLUS-20314). The port is built by static recompilation and verified frame by frame against PCSX2.
Important
No game data and no game code are included. You need your own disc image. The launcher builds the game-specific code from it on your PC.
How to install
- Extract
TS2-Recomp-0.9.1-linux-x86_64.tar.xz. - Run
./TS2-Recomp.shand pick your TimeSplitters 2 (USA) ISO. - The launcher checks the game executable (SHA-1), extracts the disc, recompiles it, and builds it with a progress bar. This only happens once.
- Click Play.
Nothing to install. The package includes its own compiler (Zig/clang) and prebuilt libraries. All you need is python3, which nearly every distribution and SteamOS already ship. The finished game depends only on glibc.
Steam Deck: experimental, not yet tested on real hardware. Setup runs directly on SteamOS, without distrobox or developer mode. See STEAM_DECK.md.
What's in it
- 60 FPS, real 16:9 (Hor+), up to 8× internal resolution (PCSX2 GS renderer, Vulkan)
- Split-screen co-op; 4 players via multitap with a third controller
- In-game settings menu (ESC / F1 / Guide): filters, FXAA/CAS, vkBasalt effects, texture packs, controls
- Hotkeys: F9 FPS · F10 turbo · F11 / Alt+Enter fullscreen · F12 screenshot
- Saves to the memory card like on the PS2
Status
Playable, work in progress. Title, story level 1, co-op, Arcade, Challenge, MapMaker and the bonus video are checked against PCSX2. Story levels 2–10 have not been played through yet. See KNOWN_ISSUES. Bug reports with build/einrichten.log are welcome.
