Scope and current evidence

Exercise the complete create-database, add-ten-synthetic-entries, save, quit, relaunch, reopen and exact-readback sequence. The installed baseline is version 2.8.29201. Personal databases and existing application processes remain untouched.

The successful Save As path previously wrote the file and then told its caller it had failed. The repair stops that false alarm. No database-format or cryptography change is intended.

Verification and blockers

• Review the narrow source diff and run git diff --check.
• Compile and run the regression-only baseline, then the repaired candidate.
• Run related GUI, database and encrypted-history checks.
• Complete the real packaged application's lifecycle and compare all synthetic entry fields after process exit.
• Verify delivery on main and the resulting package.

The configured isolated-desktop service is unavailable. No genuine screenshot or native interaction is claimed. The required local compiler and SDK were absent; the maintainer approved the verified Microsoft Build Tools installer, whose installation is now in progress with automatic restart disabled. Native GUI verification remains pending even if compilation succeeds.

今次只處理建立資料庫、加入十筆合成測試記錄、儲存、完全退出、重新啟動同再次開啟後逐欄核對。個人資料庫同原本運行中嘅程式保持不動。

🔎 Verification milestone, 2026-10-03T13:26:56-04:00

The two production repairs remain on the implementation branch, not on main: 61ee4d40638ca65fdce7cebe715b48b3c5b705e4 returns the actual Save As result and retains the startup filename string. Independent correctness and data-preservation review found no remaining actionable issue in the corrected code/test diff through 5c5f9745dcf9273171ca7714c460b696a2cfdc87.

Local evidence

The approved Visual Studio 2022 Build Tools installation completed with setup exit code 0 and restart disabled. The complete MSVC/SDK environment and Qt 6.8.3 were verified. The focused native targets compiled successfully.

Before running GUI tests, a privacy review found that changing APPDATA alone cannot isolate Qt's Windows known-folder paths. Test-only commit 3a1bb24b601ab57cd42a9f6d14efb4ef2bc5256a enables Qt test paths and a unique organization namespace before application construction. It was separately applied to the regression-only branch, producing baseline 7972fe0372abee1444b0a62a34a072c732a537f7, which still lacks both production repairs.

The GUI crashes and history initialization failures are under bounded diagnosis using synthetic data. Ruby documentation tooling separately fails while resolving its original ruby_builtin_dlls assembly; package production remains pending. No vendor binary patch, weakened loader check or host restart is being used.

Important

No native screenshot or successful create/save/Quit/reopen claim is made. Personal databases and unrelated processes are excluded. Native acceptance also requires an isolated operating-system data profile, because process environment changes alone do not redirect Qt's known-folder history location.

兩項正式修復仍然只喺工作分支，未合併到 main。獨立檢視冇再發現呢個範圍內嘅程式問題；編譯器、SDK 同 Qt 已經準備好，相關目標亦成功編譯。

🔎 Database-open crash localized

The same regression-only source, 7972fe0372abee1444b0a62a34a072c732a537f7, was rebuilt with RelWithDebInfo to obtain meaningful source symbols. One isolated testSaveAs diagnostic run then reproduced 0xC0000005 before its Save As assertion.

Independent source review confirms that databaseOpened is emitted before unlocking. At that point the database already has a root group and file path, but no composite key. The history callback attempts to snapshot it, reaching the absent-key dereference. Its existing once-only watcher flag also prevents history initialization when the later unlock notification arrives.

The repair will separate once-only save-signal registration from ready-state history initialization and protect the serialization boundary. Regression coverage will preserve support for a new database with a transformed key and a valid transformed empty composite key. This is a runtime-reproduced database-opening defect. It is not yet a successful reproduction and resolution of the installed package's complete lifecycle.

Separate history initialization defect

The selected history tests exposed another concrete failure: the Windows history helper sets GIT_CONFIG_GLOBAL=NUL and GIT_CONFIG_SYSTEM=NUL, which the installed Git rejects with exit 128. An independent isolated probe using the documented /dev/null override completed initialization and a synthetic commit while loading only repository-local configuration. Commit 24e05bf8d945b38c3251f80ee7c14ee3650e3e37 makes those two overrides portable; existing hook handling is unchanged. The affected history suite has not yet been rerun against that correction.

Note

Evidence here is a symbolized synthetic crash and isolated command results. Native interface captures remain unavailable because the required isolated-desktop service is not running. No personal database or unrelated process was used.

同一份未修復來源加上除錯符號後，單次隔離測試清楚顯示：資料庫未解鎖，開啟通知已經觸發歷史快照，最後寫入器讀取尚未存在嘅密鑰而出現存取違規。原本只執行一次嘅監察標記，仲會阻止稍後成功解鎖時初始化歷史。

修復會將「連接一次儲存通知」同「資料準備好先初始化歷史」分開，同時保護序列化入口，保留合法新資料庫同已轉換空組合密鑰嘅行為。另一項歷史初始化問題已確認係 NUL 設定路徑，已獨立驗證 /dev/null 可以隔離全域及系統設定。正式完整介面流程仍未驗收，唔會將定位到原因當成已經完成。

🧪 Save-result regressions verified, native acceptance pending

Recorded: 2026-10-03T18:01:31.134Z. This is an implementation milestone, not completion or a release claim.

The keyless-open regression deliberately reproduced 0xC0000005 at 89791fd7569d4147d0d5a61ab98d5bf1e18e9997, then passed at e2f26c784f3a78bdaab5ab38ba2ce5b2104d18e8. Save As and first-save-on-close then reached their intended false-result assertions. Applying the return-value repair produced d8282cf4ff4a47a7de1958c7ba862060b445ccdc, where all four focused cases passed.

Counts include setup and cleanup. The broader 14-process GUI run had nine green cases and five red cases. Creation, edit, add, delete and clone still report visibility or row-count assertions; they are under investigation. All processes exited without timeout or access violation. History recording also encountered an explicit Filename too long diagnostic. A synthetic comparison failed at git add for a 305-character snapshot path with long-path support disabled, and succeeded through initialization, add, commit and revision lookup at 304 characters with command-local core.longpaths=true. The production-helper regression and correction are being prepared. Host configuration was not changed.

Warning

These are isolated offscreen tests. The required native control service remains unavailable, so there is no genuine native capture or ten-entry fresh-process readback yet. Packaging is also pending a bounded Ruby loader diagnostic. No main-branch integration, pushed repair, verified release, or cleanup is claimed.

Save As 同首次儲存後關閉嘅布林結果，已經先見紅再見綠，取消同寫入失敗時亦保留可編輯資料。開檔未解鎖就做歷史快照嘅存取違規，對應回歸測試亦已通過。十四個 GUI 測試程序全部正常結束，九個通過、五個仍有可見性或列數斷言失敗。

The isolated offscreen run at d08b434fc734c2b35e15e86a8d3349fa0dd4675f completed 27 processes: 24 passed, three failed, with no crash or timeout. All ten selected temporary-root history checks passed, including encrypted KDBX3/KDBX4 embedded-history round trips. Both ready-key rows and the unlock-baseline/single-listener check passed. Four atomic Save As, cancellation, unsuccessful-write and first-close checks also passed.

Creation, edit, search-edit, delete, clone, save, backup and locking checks passed. The three remaining results received a separate diagnostic build at 1f66f78156920f4c6c3b3b95e97a9cac3a2875ed:

The first deep-root failure is now identified. Command-local core.longpaths=true supports nested file operations but does not by itself fix an oversized initial -C directory. No host Git configuration has been changed. Temporary diagnostic instrumentation was removed from the production candidate through a separate commit.

The documentation snapshot is preserved at 3b03a368648b8c8bb9203eec3fc9bc51a86e4986; website evidence references are pinned at 4d524a72c79627783a4ea919c0ed40486cf72b1e. The local website build passed. These commits are currently local and will be preserved on the task branch before integration.

Warning

The required isolated-desktop service remains unavailable. No genuine native ten-entry creation, complete Quit/relaunch sequence, positional Cantonese filename check, screenshot, or packaged readback is claimed. The unrelated running instance and personal databases remain untouched. Native acceptance is still required before this issue can close.

The documentation workflow succeeded. Independent HTTP readback returned 200, identified the exact source in build-provenance.json, and included one lifecycle article in content-manifest.json. The wiki update was pushed at 03b3e478d2bb07ae520343085143ea9f38ff96cf, and the remote Home blob matches the local update.

The main Squirrel package workflow is running. Package download, provenance and byte verification are pending. Preservation-branch builds are separate candidates; the latest release must not be assumed to represent this main commit.

Save As return and first-save-on-close regressions were observed failing before repair and passing afterward. The reproduced keyless-open access violation also has red-then-green evidence. Production-default atomic saving, cancellation, destination-write failure, recent files, editable-state preservation and embedded KDBX3/KDBX4 history round trips are covered.

The four production files are src/gui/DatabaseWidget.cpp, src/main.cpp, src/gui/MainWindow.cpp and src/gui/material/MaterialHistoryStore.cpp. Related tests, documentation, roadmap, handoff and immutable documentation manifest were updated. No KDBX format, encryption or history-restoration contract was changed.

Remaining work and exact retry conditions

Important

The required isolated-desktop service is unavailable. No packaged installation, native ten-entry creation, full Quit/process-exit proof, fresh-process readback, positional Cantonese-filename opening or genuine screenshot is claimed. Personal databases and unrelated processes were preserved.

• Resume native acceptance only after the approved service is available and operating-system data/profile isolation is established before process construction. Environment-only known-folder overrides are insufficient.
• Retained limitation: initial entry into a 285-character per-database history directory fails. The reproduction and three bounded launch comparisons are preserved. This unfinished reproduction was explicitly excluded from completed-unit integration and is not counted as passing. It requires a separate bounded follow-up after a material change.
• Local documentation packaging has a separate Ruby private-assembly resolution problem. The hosted package above provides the verified package bytes; it does not establish local documentation-tool recovery.
• Active task checkouts and the unmerged diagnostic branch are retained. No cleanup or archive-backed deletion is claimed.

The lifecycle article, rolling discussion and checked-in continuation record preserve the procedure. The next owner should resume native acceptance through the approved route, without repeating unchanged passing checks or accessing personal vaults.

The checked-in inventory declares 86 feature IDs on two surfaces. Its native rows currently declare 1 implemented, 36 partial and 49 missing; its website rows declare 0 implemented, 1 partial and 85 missing. These are parsed declarations, not a newly executed test verdict. The inventory needs more precise surface and capability rows, persistence links and validation of current build provenance.

First implementation boundaries

• Share interruption and reduced-motion handling across existing native controls. Keep locking and sensitive-content clearing immediate, and never retain images of credential surfaces for transitions.
• Cover persistent, dynamic, nested, stack-local and default text-editing menus. Preserve action ownership, enablement, shortcuts, keyboard navigation, focus return and isolated search state.
• Reuse current design references and existing product behavior while adding the missing functionality. Source review does not establish visual conformance.
• Independently review each coherent change and run focused regressions before integration. The existing 99 Qt passes at 97825b47b2916ced881e82763e1a49d23ed98313 do not verify this new UI work.

今次範圍已擴大：補齊必需功能、完整 Material Design 3 介面、各類元素嘅動態效果，同每個右鍵選單獨立嘅搜尋欄及旁邊完整 regex builder。原本 #17 嘅資料庫建立、儲存、退出、重開驗收仍未完成。

兩條實作分支分別處理共用動態效果同選單搜尋，避免互相覆寫。動態效果要尊重減少動畫設定，鎖定同清除敏感畫面必須即時，亦唔會為轉場保留憑證畫面影像。選單要保留原本動作、快捷鍵、啟用狀態及鍵盤焦點。

📦 Build 300 was last observed running. Correction: documentation run 93 finished with failure at 2026-10-03T21:18:19Z. The initial comment repeated an older running snapshot. Its exact diagnostic is Content manifest must list every documented feature article exactly once. The menu article was integrated without updating the manifest. An isolated integration lane is repairing that omission and building the complete bundle. No new package success is predicted. The last locally validated main package remains v2.8.29801 at the earlier source.

Other independent work remains active:

• Vault-pane initialization candidate has 14 passes and zero failures after six observed failures, and is undergoing independent review.
• Evidence-inventory repair has 80 focused passes, but product completeness remains 0/94,810 current evidence cells. This is a count of required evidence obligations, not a count of distinct defects or unique required images.
• Startup-surprise behavior is being brought back to the current explicit requirement of 1% per launch with a persisted off control, including excluded startup and active-task states.
• Non-QMenu adapters, calendar-grid search, per-element customization/locks, saved snippets, query-history access and broader motion remain unfinished.

The documentation repair now lists every one of the 38 feature articles exactly once and supports the new interface category in both the build and browser loader. Remaining work and handoff

• The original create database, ten synthetic entries in two groups, save, Quit, proven exit, relaunch, reopen and exact field comparison remains unverified through the native interface. The positional filename with spaces and Cantonese characters is also required.
• Startup-surprise review found two paths requiring independent confirmation and repair: automatic database restoration and a visible information bar changing to error severity. The intended contract remains one percent per launch with a persisted off control.
• The expanded inventory has 106 surfaces, 89 feature groups and 998 capabilities. A stale article count is being corrected to 9,434 surface/feature groups. Its 105,788 capability/surface evidence cells are obligations, not a claim that those features are implemented or captured.
• Non-QMenu choices, completion and calendar surfaces, per-element controls, broader motion and all other unfulfilled feature rows remain open. The next bounded adapter must preserve combo source models, editable text and original selection indices.

The stale article count has its own executable regression: 93 passes and one failure before correction (8455 !== 9434), followed by 94 passes. The inventory explicitly names 106 surfaces, 89 feature groups and 998 capabilities. Its cell total measures required evidence obligations. It does not claim that every capability is missing, implemented, or natively verified.

Release-grade acceptance remains open

The acceptance article now records the finite packaged smoke sequence: isolated process construction, ten synthetic entries across two groups, atomic save, cleared modification state, actual Quit and proven exit, distinct relaunch, exact local readback, and positional reopening through spaces and Cantonese characters. It also requires menu, motion, vault-sizing and startup-exclusion checks, plus privacy-reviewed per-click screenshots bound to the source and executable.

Important

The approved native-control route remains unavailable. No new native screenshot or packaged smoke result is claimed. A reviewed September settings image was shown in chat as historical illustration only; its missing executable provenance prevents it from satisfying current acceptance. Fresh screenshots still need to be retained in the repository and shown in README and the published documentation after verification.

The startup unit is preserved separately at 4be1c35f94e150fffc767d9afea6e7c0215fbb69, with 121/4 observed red, 125/0 repaired and 7/0 legacy results. Final review found an additional asynchronous database-opening path, now assigned for independent refutation and repair. A separate choice-popup unit is building its first behavioral regression, and a bounded conversion covers the four remaining plain combo controls. None is represented as integrated runtime acceptance yet.

Automation installation

The user authorized installation of Lowlevel. The current documented quiet stdio
runtime at source e6e42f2066d539256d6480401d7cef867f2b8dfe was installed with
locked dependencies and additive client registrations. No network listener or
logon launcher was installed. An initialized persistent session exposed 58 tools
and loaded the native C++ backend.

A bounded synthetic Qt fixture was launched on a fresh off-screen desktop, located
by its recorded process and window identity, captured through the window-targeted
capture tool, and closed using a background button click. Four recorded checks
showed unchanged foreground window, pointer position and input desktop. The fixture,
server and owned desktop were subsequently verified absent. The original image was
inspected and contains only synthetic labels and a close button.

Important

This is installation smoke evidence only. It is not a screenshot of KeePassXC,
and it does not establish database creation, saving, restarting, readback, or
installed application acceptance. No substitute image is presented as product evidence.

Newly established application-isolation limitation

Existing environment controls can isolate both configuration files before application
construction. A unique process identity and temporary directory can isolate the
instance lock and named pipe. However, production HistoryStore still resolves its
ledger below Qt's account data directory, without a supported production override.
Portable mode relocates configuration only. Environment substitutions for AppData
do not isolate the Windows KnownFolder locations used by Qt.

The production application has therefore not been launched against the personal
profile for this test. A decision is pending between a new optional isolated-profile
facility, preserving default behavior, and an already isolated operating-system
profile. The original requirement to leave public interfaces unchanged makes that
an explicit scope decision. Personal databases remain outside the test scope.

Parallel implementation and review

• Choice popup 5bbdc32203fedc4de04ab291d948039dec3bcca8 is preserved on its task
  branch. Its original focused suite passed 26 entries. Independent review then
  exposed stale root/column selection and editable accessibility-focus defects.
  Tests-first 8268620fa1a16830ff3ef2afe5618c5df7b2ea9b observed three focused
  failures. The bounded repairs and green verification are in progress.
• Four additional choice controls at 3cb79c5ce840e494b00e6cbcd22cc2fa1d14759f
  compiled with their real browser, sharing and SSH controllers. Independent source
  review is dry. Documentation integration is in progress; combined native behavior
  is still unverified.
• Startup handling at 724bf36166acd76f16231ea6f8c2a939e0d94e7a is preserved on
  its task branch. The forwarded-file regression changed from 125 passes / 2 failures
  to 127 passes / 0 failures, with seven legacy passes. Review found an include
  dependency in the supported updates-disabled build, now receiving its own
  compiler regression and minimal repair.

The complete feature inventory remains incomplete. Source checks, package downloads,
and automation installation do not replace the required per-surface native evidence.
No final release-grade completion or cleanup is claimed.

Main now contains 9530b42c6c8bade2754e5c93bbfe999bec2a1522, verified by reading the remote ref after the push. The delivered source promotes browser type, group sharing type, SSH key type and SSH key size to the shared Material choice control. All three real controller targets compiled. Independent review found no actionable regression within this delta and matched the six recorded compiled-library/generated-header hashes.

The documentation manifest preserves all 39 previous articles and now contains 40. Its immutable bindings, three category checks, full exact-source build, and 15 generated-file hashes were verified. The documentation workflow is green. The new package workflow is running, so no package success is predicted.

The remote main ref is now edffb9db8be840e7a6db685d57990a1a57f6119c. Independent incorporation review confirmed that startup suppression, object lifetimes, forwarded-file handling and the updates-disabled include repair coexist with the shared motion behavior. Both input histories are preserved.

The combined runtime source 7cb43f654ef2cc908a76a5a739bddfda2aa29c52 passed 167 entries: 127 Material startup checks, seven legacy startup checks and 33 motion checks. All processes exited zero, with no skips or timeouts. Actual executable hashes and test logs were independently matched. Later documentation-only changes are not presented as another runtime execution.

The final documentation build passed with all 40 articles retained and immutably bound. The documentation workflow is green. The current package workflow is running. Package and native results remain separate.

Additional review findings are receiving causal regressions

Review of the separately preserved choice integration found two callback-boundary defects: synchronous dismissal can destroy the owner before suspended cleanup resumes, and a dismissal callback can make the selected row ineligible after its first flags check. Independent refutation accepted both findings.

Tests-first source 6f7cbbb5865d5669a1c66772bc23bad94e438cf4 observed both eligibility assertions fail and four owner/popup deletion variants exit 0xC0000005. The narrow repair is building. No green result or main integration is claimed for that repair yet.

Installation and capture status

Lowlevel installation remains verified. The client CLI recognizes its registration as enabled, and the exact installed command also initialized from a neutral directory, exposed 58 tools, returned successful native-backend status and closed normally. The earlier synthetic hidden-window smoke remains separate from KeePassXC evidence.

The documentation capture lane is preparing an isolated browser against exact hashed built output, so later source delivery cannot silently change the captured revision. No product screenshot is claimed before the raw image and provenance are inspected. The database lifecycle remains pending the profile/history isolation decision. Personal databases are untouched.

The full product inventory remains incomplete at 0/105,788 current verified evidence cells. No release-grade completion or cleanup is claimed.

The navigation repair preserves full intrinsic tab widths and packages the existing project-owned icon byte-for-byte. Its original capture matrix contained 48 language/theme/device-scale/width tuples and 144 page-only images. All 72 narrow observations exposed labels escaping their tab targets. The original runtime also recorded a favicon 404. The preserved repair changes the specific width and icon-delivery causes; its source checks do not establish repaired pixels.

The original capture run's owned processes, listeners and desktop exited. Automatic approval review rejected removal of its exact temporary browser profile with the reason blocked by policy. The profile remains retained. The aggregate capture audit is incomplete, and no image from that run has been promoted as passing repaired evidence. Original pixels, hashes, geometry and interaction records remain available locally for the separate verification lane.

Remote checks: main package run, same-source preservation package run, and documentation deployment have completed successfully. Deployment success is not a browser rendering verdict.

The ten-entry create/save/quit/relaunch/reopen comparison and positional filename test remain unexecuted. Production history paths still require the pending isolated-profile decision. Personal databases and the existing personal application process were not targeted. No issue is closed by this update, and no release-grade completion or cleanup completion is claimed.

Important

Browser device-scale emulation is not operating-system display scaling. Matrix and overflow
selection used DOM clicks; the keyboard sequence used real background controller input after
explicit focus. Representative original images were visually reviewed; this does not claim
every pixel in every image was manually inspected or establish complete accessibility.

The browser, server, known descendants and listeners exited, and the hidden desktop closed.
Foreground window, cursor and input desktop stayed unchanged. Automatic approval review rejected
an exact owned-profile removal. The profiles were retained without an alternate deletion route.
The aggregate audit therefore remains incomplete. Images have not been promoted into the README
or published documentation because the evidence-promotion contract is not yet satisfied.

• Navigation retains 198 genuine images across 48 tuples, with 960 contained labels and no body overflow. Scoped interaction and layout checks passed. The aggregate audit remains incomplete because exact owned browser-profile deletion was rejected. Those profiles remain retained, and no images have been promoted or published as accepted evidence.
• Full product evidence remains 0/105,788 current capability cells, with 9,434 incomplete surface-feature groups. Offscreen tests, controller smoke, package validation and source delivery do not fill native acceptance cells.

The requested Lowlevel controller installation is complete. Its registered, client-owned stdio command initialized from a neutral working directory, exposed 58 tools and the native backend, and passed a genuine synthetic Qt launch, capture, background-close and teardown smoke check. This evidence covers controller installation only. No packaged KeePassXC database lifecycle has run.

The record-only commit 3356cdfece47a33fca6fb02db4dcd82f8c576e12 is present on main and its preservation branch, verified by remote refs. It changes only CLOSEOUT_PROMPT.md, HANDOFF.md and ROADMAP.md. The parent-side scan examined 2,048 text files and 658 binary files and found zero new publication-boundary findings against the prior commit. Existing findings remain attributed to the unchanged baseline. The three changed records and commit message passed their focused scans; git diff --check passed.

The independent publication review found no eligible current image. The existing documentation homepage returned HTTP 200 with zero image references. No gallery was created or modified, and image delivery was not established. Older parity receipts are stale for this task; the synthetic controller fixture is not KeePassXC UI evidence. This comment reports preservation and verification state, not a visual implementation change, and substitutes no unrelated image.

The account reached 10% remaining allowance, so implementation stopped for preservation. The larger interface, lifecycle and release goal remains incomplete. Retained profiles, incomplete branches and worktrees remain intact. No cleanup was performed. Resume only through the recorded native-isolation decision and existing approval controls; do not retry held actions through another route. No new runtime, build, capture, installer execution or release acceptance was performed by this record-only step.

The goal is now marked blocked, not complete. The required production profile/history isolation decision remained unanswered across three consecutive goal turns. Temporary INI files do not redirect the independent application-data history root, so the packaged lifecycle cannot safely begin with the current unresolved scope.

The requested Lowlevel installation remains complete and its synthetic controller smoke remains verified. The Save As result repair and owning filename string are present in main at 3356cdfece47a33fca6fb02db4dcd82f8c576e12, with exact remote ref proof. DatabaseWidget.cpp and TestGui.cpp match the prior verified 6c1c3acc candidate byte-for-byte. This is source equality and retained focused evidence, not fresh packaged runtime acceptance.

The final read still shows package runs 37170195681 and 37170182353 in progress. Documentation run 37170195695 succeeded. Only the local observation client was stopped; neither hosted job was canceled.

The combined-choice manifest action and retained-profile deletion remain subject to their existing approval holds. No alternate route was attempted. Original captures, incomplete work and profiles remain retained. No source edits, new build, native launch or cleanup occurred in this continuation.

Resume by resolving the existing isolated profile/history choice and the outstanding approval controls, then recheck the exact hosted runs before further work. The native ten-entry creation, save, Quit, fresh-process reopening, exact local field comparison and positional spaces/Cantonese filename flow remain required. No new native capture is available because that isolation decision still prevents the run. The lifecycle article's old controller-unavailable sentence is also a recorded documentation correction for resumed work. The issue remains open.
