Codex for Zotero v0.7.2 — Refined toolbar
Refine the sidebar composer toolbar.
- Replace font-based plus/send/stop glyphs with centered vector icons.
- Align attachment, model, annotation, and send controls to one center line and a shared 30px height.
- Add a compact model selector with a custom chevron, consistent annotation spacing, neutral hover states, and keyboard focus outlines.
- Remove inherited native button padding/margins that displaced icons.
Validation: existing offline tests passed; native Zotero layout checks passed at 280px, 360px, and 520px widths in both light and dark schemes. Plugin, local bridge, and installed XPI were verified as 0.7.2.
Install codex-for-zotero-0.7.2.xpi through Zotero → Tools → Plugins → gear menu → Install Plugin From File…, or use Zotero's plugin update check. The optional skill archive is unchanged in behavior.

Codex for Zotero v0.7.1 — Images and video
Image input and media replies
- Attach images with the + button, paste screenshots, or drag image files into the sidebar.
- Preview/remove attachments before sending; send image-only messages or combine images with text.
- Forward persistent image snapshots as native Codex
localImageinput, including in follow-up turns; restore images in native chat history. - Display reply images inline and click to expand them.
- Play supported MP4/WebM/MOV replies inline with controls and seeking; retain the player while reply text streams.
- Load remote media only after an explicit click. Video website pages remain normal links; playback requires a supported codec.
Limits: 8 images per message, 20 MB each, 50 MB total. The selected Codex model/provider must accept image input. Local reply media must be saved inside the configured paper-reading working directory. Native generated-image results need inline data or a local saved file; file-ID-only results show a notice to continue in Codex.
Installation
Download codex-for-zotero-0.7.1.xpi and install it through Zotero → Tools → Plugins → gear menu → Install Plugin From File…. Existing public installations can also use Zotero's plugin update check.
Requires macOS, Zotero 10.0.x, Node.js 22+, and a compatible authenticated local Codex installation. Sidebar labels are Chinese. See the English README for setup and optional skills.
Validation and privacy
- 31 offline JavaScript tests and 8 annotation tests passed.
- Real Zotero checks covered clipboard paste, file-input selection, drag/drop, attachment removal, image expansion, video metadata/controls/seeking, and image-only message forwarding.
- A native Codex image turn correctly identified the blue line in a synthetic chart; native history retained the image.
- Control/upload routes require bearer authentication. Local media uses private, random, file-scoped URLs and validates resolved workspace paths and binary signatures. Video streaming supports byte ranges.
- Source and release archives passed privacy and secret scans. Real papers, chat history, credentials, and private verification screenshots are excluded.
Local wiring does not imply offline inference: Codex can send paper/image content to its configured provider. Review SECURITY.md.
Release assets include the installable .xpi, optional skills ZIP, Zotero update manifest, and SHA256SUMS.

Assets and verification
.xpi: installable Zotero plugin; use this instead of GitHub's source ZIP.skills-0.6.0.zip: optional annotation and library-management Codex skills.updates.json: Zotero update manifest with the XPI SHA-256 digest.SHA256SUMS: checksums for all three assets above.
Offline checks: 24 JavaScript tests and 8 generated-PDF annotation tests passed. Source, packaged files, and Git history passed privacy/secret scans. Privacy: the integration runs locally, but Codex can send paper content and prompts to its configured model provider. This is not an offline-inference guarantee. See Security and privacy.
