Padmaster AI Assistant 0.2.0-beta

What it is

A chat panel inside LaunchBox, powered by your own AI subscription. Ask about your games, find a manual, check which emulator a game uses, or have it build a playlist from your library. Type or use the microphone. This is an early test release.

Requirements

  • Windows.
  • LaunchBox 14.1.x only (14.2 will refuse the Plugin Manager part until an update).
  • Claude Code or Codex CLI installed and signed in with your own subscription. No API keys: API-key and Console sign-ins are refused, and the plugin stores no key.

Install

  1. Close LaunchBox.
  2. Download Padmaster-AI-Assistant-0.2.0-beta.zip and unzip it into your LaunchBox folder. It adds Plugins\PadMaster, Local\Plugins\Padmaster AI Assistant and a README.md at the LaunchBox root.
  3. Start LaunchBox. Nothing shows yet; that is by design.
  4. Tools > Manage > Plugins > Padmaster AI Assistant > Configure, tick Enable, press Save.
  5. In the panel, choose Claude Code or Codex under Your AI and click Sign in if asked.

Known limits

  • No deletion, by design: removing games, playlists, platforms, emulators or anything else is refused inside the plugin, and no setting turns it on. The one exception is taking games out of a playlist.
  • Bulk guard: bulk rewrites, and taking more than 20 games out of a playlist at once, wait for your Yes in the panel (threshold and on/off in Configure). It checks one change at a time.
  • Other changes are real and happen without a confirmation dialog; make a LaunchBox backup first.
  • Codex uses its default model and cannot read emulator configurations or manual files.
  • The right panel needs a selected game; otherwise a floating window appears.
  • Slash commands are not available. Replies may take a while.
  • Automatic controller mapping is not built yet.
  • Beta: report bugs in GitHub issues with Plugins\PadMaster\padmaster.log attached (read it first; never share mcp.json).
