@DubCity7274 DubCity7274 released this 07 Nov 10:46

Fifth beta of Routine VR: room-scale, 6DoF VR for ROUTINE on UEVR.

New since beta.4

  • Both thumbs move. A glove's thumb curls when your thumb is on the thumbrest, on a face button (touched or pressed), or pushing its stick.
  • Left-hand fix. The mod had been reading the right controller whenever it asked about the left one. That's why the left thumb never moved; it's fixed everywhere the mod reads the left hand.
  • Jitter warning. On some launches UEVR's frame tracking starts out broken and head tracking stays jittery for the whole session. The panel's top line now says when that's happened: restart the game to fix it.
  • The README has a demo GIF.

Known issues

  • The automatic recenter at startup isn't reliable yet: if the menu is behind you, hold B + Y for 3 seconds.
  • A thumb resting on a stick without pushing it isn't detected: UEVR doesn't read the stick's touch sensor.

Install

  • routine-vr-0.1.0-beta.5.zip: the full repo with the Linux and Windows installers. See the README.
  • routine-vr-0.1.0-beta.5-profile.zip: just the UEVR profile, for a manual install.

UEVR and KeinZantezuken's Visibility Tweaks (PPV) pak mod are not included.

Tested on a Quest 3 through Proton 11 + OpenXR + WiVRn. Other headsets and the Windows installer are untested: feedback welcome.

Fourth beta of Routine VR: room-scale, 6DoF VR for ROUTINE on UEVR.

New since beta.3

  • Physical crouch works and is on by default: duck about 25 cm and the game crouches. (It used to press the wrong button.)
  • Lean is on your off hand's trigger (left trigger for right-handers). It used to be the grip, which was easy to hold by accident while pressing the C.A.T.'s buttons. Trigger, grip or off in the panel.
  • The Routine VR panel is reorganized: a status line with a recenter button, then collapsible sections (Controls, Hands and body, C.A.T., Room-scale, Comfort, Controllers, Advanced), with the sliders tucked into expanders.

Fixes

  • Arms no longer disappear when looking down at some angles or while crawling.
  • No more spinning around while leaning or climbing ladders.
  • No more getting stuck in a flat "cutscene" view with default controls after loading a save or starting a new game.

Known issues

  • The mod tries to recenter on its own at startup, but it isn't reliable yet: if the menu is behind you, hold B + Y for 3 seconds.
  • Head tracking sometimes gets jittery until the game is restarted. The panel's top line now shows the frame time: if you see this, a note of that number helps.

If you installed an earlier beta, your settings are kept, except that physical crouch turns on and crouch moves to the right button.

Install

  • routine-vr-0.1.0-beta.4.zip: the full repo with the Linux and Windows installers. See the README.
  • routine-vr-0.1.0-beta.4-profile.zip: just the UEVR profile, for a manual install.

UEVR and KeinZantezuken's Visibility Tweaks (PPV) pak mod are not included.

Tested on a Quest 3 through Proton 11 + OpenXR + WiVRn. Other headsets and the Windows installer are untested: feedback welcome.

Third beta of Routine VR: room-scale, 6DoF VR for ROUTINE on UEVR.

New since beta.2

New defaults, tuned in the headset:

  • The C.A.T. is drawn from your hip: reach to your right hip (left in left-handed mode) and grip to draw it; it stays out while you hold the grip. Hold-anywhere and toggle are still in the panel.
  • Hip holster positions for both hands: the put-away C.A.T. sits beside your hip with its screen up.
  • Body follow is snappier: 20.6° dead zone, 269°/s.
  • Crouch is the game's crouch on left X.
  • Laser off (most things are easier by pointing your hand); when on, it's a short 28.7 cm.
  • The game's sharpen is kept: it looks better that way. Fisheye, grain, vignette and the rest are still removed.

If you installed an earlier beta, your saved settings are kept. To get the new defaults, delete data/routine_vr.json in the profile folder, or run the uninstaller with --remove-settings (Windows: -RemoveSettings) and reinstall.

Known issue: physical crouch (ducking in real life) doesn't work yet, so it stays off.

Install

  • routine-vr-0.1.0-beta.3.zip: the full repo with the Linux and Windows installers. See the README.
  • routine-vr-0.1.0-beta.3-profile.zip: just the UEVR profile, for a manual install.

UEVR and KeinZantezuken's Visibility Tweaks (PPV) pak mod are not included.

Tested on a Quest 3 through Proton 11 + OpenXR + WiVRn. Other headsets and the Windows installer are untested; known issues are in docs/TODO.md. Feedback welcome, especially from other headsets.

Second beta of Routine VR: room-scale, 6DoF VR for ROUTINE on UEVR.

New since beta.1

  • Body follows your head: turn your head past a dead zone and the character turns with you; the view never moves (dead zone and speed sliders).
  • Left-handed mode: the C.A.T., aim, interact trigger, grip-raise and hip holster move to the left hand, with the game's grip mirrored onto the left glove; touch and lean go to the right.
  • C.A.T. hip holster: put away, the C.A.T. hangs on your hip (also while crawling). Position and angle sliders, kept per hand.
  • Tap Y opens the game menu.
  • Left trigger sends Focus.
  • Native Stereo Fix on: the C.A.T.'s screen shows in both eyes.
  • Helmet and other camera clutter hidden on late-game saves.
  • The custom button layout is gone; UEVR's default mapping handles every controller.

Install

  • routine-vr-0.1.0-beta.2.zip: the full repo with the Linux and Windows installers. See the README.
  • routine-vr-0.1.0-beta.2-profile.zip: just the UEVR profile, for a manual install.

UEVR and KeinZantezuken's Visibility Tweaks (PPV) pak mod are not included.

Tested on a Quest 3 through Proton 11 + OpenXR + WiVRn. Other headsets and the Windows installer are untested; known issues are in docs/TODO.md.

Routine VR 0.1.0-beta.1

@DubCity7274 DubCity7274 released this 06 Nov 07:23

First beta of Routine VR: room-scale, 6DoF VR for ROUTINE on UEVR.

Tested on Meta Quest 3 only (Linux, Proton, WiVRn, OpenXR). Other headsets should work through UEVR's own controller mapping; reports welcome.

Highlights

  • Motion hands built from the game's own spacesuit arms: arms attached to the visible body, fingers that curl with grip, trigger and thumb, and the C.A.T. held in the glove.
  • Press the C.A.T.'s side buttons by touching them with your left index finger, no inspect needed.
  • Raise the C.A.T. with the right grip (hold, toggle, or a hip holster); lean on the left grip.
  • Normal-speed turning and sprinting with the C.A.T. out.
  • Fisheye, grain, sharpen, vignette and other screen effects off (fisheye/grain/sharpen need the PPV/SML pak mod from Nexus Mods, not included).
  • Hold B + Y for 3 seconds to recenter, in menus too.
  • Controller layout auto-detected from the headset.

Downloads

  • routine-vr-0.1.0-beta.1-profile.zip: just the mod. Extract into %APPDATA%\UnrealVRMod\ (Windows) or the Proton prefix's equivalent (Linux).
  • routine-vr-0.1.0-beta.1.zip: the full package with installers for Windows (install-windows.bat) and Linux (install-linux.sh), and uninstallers.

You also need UEVR (nightly). See the README for setup.

Known issues

  • Pressing a button before the main menu loads can leave the headset black.
  • While crawling, the C.A.T. floats in front of you.
  • The Windows installer hasn't been tested yet.
