What's new in 0.15.0

  • Look: A new look across the app, calmer and sharper. Messages and the message box sit in a narrower
reading column, small text and badges are easier to read, and in the Mac app the room name sits on
the window buttons' row. On a touch screen, the chat's buttons are finger-sized and Wallet, Skills
    and Memorize fit a phone.
  • Chat: Answers now stream smoothly, and you can follow the model's thinking and steps as they happen.
Words arrive at an even pace, and tables and formatting look finished even mid-answer. A "Thinking"
line with a timer opens to the thought as it is written, then reads "Thought for 7 s", and steps
gather in one card per stretch of work, with the room's questions inside it.
  • Models: Choose the model and its effort right under the message box. The picker has a dial for the
effort and shows how much each model can read, and the Ask first / Auto chip for commands sits there
too. GPT-6.1 Terra joins the list on OpenAI, ChatGPT, Azure and GitHub Copilot.
  • Chat: While a room answers, Enter queues your next message and the room takes it in after its
current step, or once the answer ends. A queued message waits under the answer, marked Queued, and
you can edit, copy or remove it until the room takes it in. Send now, or Cmd+Enter (Ctrl+Enter on
Windows), stops the answer at the words on screen and sends it. Queued messages are kept through a
reload or a restart, and Stop puts them back in the box.
  • Chat: Edit your newest message with the pencil once the room has answered, or a queued one before
the room takes it in. Editing a sent message replaces it and its answer, for you and for the model,
and a line names any steps that already ran and are not undone (suggested in issue #79).
  • Chat: Answers can now show typeset maths and draw bar, line and pie charts. Code is coloured as it
is written, and a diagram is drawn in the app's colours once it is complete, with Copy image, Code
    and a larger view.
  • Costs: Conversations now read more from the provider's cache, so they cost less. A room's
instructions, files and skills no longer change the start of every request, consults and memory
questions stop paying for a cache they never reuse, and Bedrock caches every Claude model from
    Claude 4 on.
  • Desktop app: Quitting mid-answer keeps the words written so far, on Mac and Windows. A line says the
app stopped before the answer finished; typing "continue" picks it up, and a new question gets its
own answer. On Windows, the room opens at once after a restart.
  • Rooms: A room working while you're away now keeps going for up to an hour. Before, it stopped after
12 minutes; now it stops sooner only after 10 minutes without progress, and its line says why, with
Try again (reported in issue #82). Come back to a room mid-answer and it asks you its waiting
    questions again.
  • Help: Press Cmd+/ (Ctrl+/ on Windows) to see the keyboard shortcuts. Help now opens either How it
    works or this Shortcuts list.
  • Terminal install: The exxperts command now opens the app in your browser; the terminal app is gone.
That removes exxperts cli, exxperts remote and the search and gateway setup commands; web
search, gateways and remote access are set up in the app's Settings.
  • Fixed: Many small fixes across the app, plus security updates. A reload no longer doubles a message,
and a reconnect keeps the answer and its steps on screen. The desktop app's engine and two libraries
are updated for published security fixes.

Prebuilt Exxperts archives with a vendored Node runtime. No Node, npm, or Git needs to be installed on the target machine; unpack and run.

Desktop app (window + tray around the same local server). Both desktop builds are signed — the macOS app is notarized by Apple, the Windows binaries are publisher-signed by Exxeta AG — so neither platform shows an unknown-publisher prompt on first launch:

Platform Download
Windows x64 installer exxperts-setup-0.15.0.exe
Windows x64 portable exxperts-desktop-0.15.0-win-x64.zip
macOS Apple Silicon exxperts-desktop-0.15.0-mac-arm64.dmg (or the -mac-arm64.zip) — the macOS assets are attached within minutes of this release going live (they are uploaded from the signed build)

The versionless copies of the same files (exxperts-desktop-mac-arm64.dmg, exxperts-setup-win-x64.exe, ...) exist so releases/latest/download links always point at the newest release; they have their own lines in SHA256SUMS.txt.

Server archives (the exxperts command, which opens the app in your browser; the one-line installers use them):

Platform Download
Windows x64 exxperts-0.15.0-win-x64.zip
macOS Apple Silicon exxperts-0.15.0-darwin-arm64.tar.gz
Linux x64 exxperts-0.15.0-linux-x64.tar.gz

Verify your download (--ignore-missing checks only the file you downloaded):

shasum -a 256 --ignore-missing -c SHA256SUMS.txt

(On Windows PowerShell: (Get-FileHash exxperts-0.15.0-win-x64.zip -Algorithm SHA256).Hash and compare against the archive's line in SHA256SUMS.txt.)

Checksums are computed in CI from the tagged commit; each archive also passed a bare-machine smoke test on its target OS before this release was published. The macOS desktop lines are appended to SHA256SUMS.txt when the signed macOS assets are attached.
