Ghost Recon 2: Summit Strike — native PC port v1.0

A native Windows port of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2: Summit Strike (original Xbox, 2005), built by statically recompiling the game's own code with the xboxrecomp toolkit. The Xbox hardware is replaced by native code: Vulkan renderer, XAudio2 audio, XInput / keyboard and mouse input.

No game data is included — you need your own copy of the game.

Installation

  1. Download SummitStrike-v1.0.zip and extract it anywhere.
  2. Copy the entire contents of your Summit Strike Xbox disc (extracted ISO: default.xbe and all its folders) into the game\ folder.
  3. Run summitstrike.exe.

Requirements

v1.0

The first release. The single-player campaign, its briefings and cutscenes play through, with sound.

Features

  • Options menu (Delete or Home): windowed / borderless / exclusive fullscreen, VSync, frame limit, volume, reverb, rain/ambience level, language (English, French, German, Spanish, Italian)
  • Internal resolution from native 640x480 up to 6x (3840x2880), changeable live
  • Aspect ratio: 4:3, 16:9 (stretched) or fill window
  • Anti-aliasing and scaling: area supersampling downscale, SMAA 1x, FSR 1 upscaling, RCAS sharpening
  • Unlocked frame rate (the game is variable-timestep), disk shader and pipeline cache
  • XInput controllers, keyboard and mouse

Not covered

  • Multiplayer, co-op, System Link and Xbox Live are untested.
  • The options menu is operated with keyboard and mouse; a controller does not navigate it (it plays the game normally).

Where your data goes

Saves, settings (ss.ini), shader cache and logs: %LOCALAPPDATA%\GhostRecon2SummitStrike\ — separate from the Ghost Recon 2 port's folder. Nothing is written next to the exe.

Settings and performance

Heavy scenes (dense foliage, rain) are limited by the GPU's pixel work, which grows with the internal resolution: in a measured mission, x3 costs about a quarter of x6 for the same scene. If a mission drops frames, lower the internal resolution to x3–x4 and keep SMAA / FSR on.
Recommended starting point (1440p monitor): internal resolution x4, Downscale filter Area, Sharpen 50–60 %, aspect 4:3.
