• Minimise goes to the tray instead: no taskbar button, music keeps playing. Click the tray icon to come back; right-click it for Play/Pause, skip and Quit. The new setting Minimise to the tray (on by default; app menu, Settings → Window, TV Settings → Advanced) replaces "Keep running in the tray"; turn it off for a normal minimise to the taskbar.

PlexDeck 5.3.37

• Full descriptions, like Plex. A description that's cut off ("…") on a show's, movie's, episode's, actor's or Discover title's page can now be opened: go to it (Down from a show's or movie's buttons, Up from an episode or an actor's titles) and press OK, or click it. You get the whole text; Up / Down scroll a long one, like an actor's biography.
• Long titles scroll on a focused poster. A title that doesn't fit under its poster ("ARK: The Animate…") scrolls to its end, waits a moment and starts over.
• The big title at the top wraps to a second line instead of being cut off; a very long one gets slightly smaller letters.

Changed

• Season bar: the chosen season moves as far left as the bar goes, and looks like focus everywhere else (black with a white ring). While you move along the bar, the chosen one keeps a dimmed ring.
• A–Z bar: bigger letters, each in the same round space (nothing jumps when one is focused), on a dark pill like the season bar. A bar taller than the screen scrolls and keeps the focused letter in the middle.

Fixed

• Theme music on a show's page plays once per visit. It used to start again every couple of minutes (the page refreshes itself) and when you went to the show's seasons and back.

PlexDeck 5.3.35

• Specials play where they aired, like Plex. Up Next, Next and Previous now put a show's specials (Season 0) in airing order: a special plays right after the last episode that aired before it. Sword Art Online: 1×25 → the special Extra Edition → 2×1. Battlestar Galactica: Razor between seasons 3 and 4.
• Season pages show their mid-season specials between the episodes, marked Special (Sword Art Online's Alicization: episode 18 → Alicization 18.5 → episode 19). A special that aired between two seasons stays in Specials.
• Watch on a show picks Plex's On Deck episode first, then the first one you haven't watched, in airing order.
• New switch: Settings → Player Experience → Specials in Airing Order (on, like Plex). Turn it off for the old order, seasons only. Specials without an air date stay in Specials.

PlexDeck 5.3.33

Fixed

• Skipping on a Dolby TrueHD track no longer loses the sound. With Passthrough set to All, the sound could stop on your receiver after skipping forward or back in a TrueHD / Atmos film (for example a 7.1 Atmos track). It's a known FFmpeg bug (ticket #9569): after a skip, the first TrueHD frames reached the receiver malformed. PlexDeck now restarts the TrueHD stream cleanly at each skip, like at the start of a film. Quick presses in a row become one jump, so the receiver only has to lock on once. Other sound formats skip exactly as before.

• TV mode Home: Recently Added is per library, like the Plex app: Recently Added in Movies, Recently Added in TV Shows and so on, instead of one "Recently Added Movies" and one "Recently Added TV" row for everything.
  • The rows follow your sidebar's library order (kept per user). Reorder, pin, unpin or reset the sidebar and Home follows at once.
  • A library you unpin from the sidebar isn't on Home. Libraries set to "Exclude from home screen" on your server stay off too.

• Key bindings: change any key TV mode uses.
  • TV mode: Settings → Key Bindings lists every action with its keys and its controller button. Pick an action to add a key (just press it), take one away, or put back its default keys.
  • Settings window: Remote & controller → Key bindings (TV mode) has the same list. Each key is a chip with ×, + adds one, and ↺ puts back the defaults.
  • Each key does one thing. Binding a key that's already in use moves it, and tells you which action had it.
  • F5, F10 and F11 stay PlexDeck's own keys. Keys held with Ctrl, Alt or Windows can't be used.
  • Resetting one action or all of them asks first.
  • Your bindings are saved with your settings and included in the settings backup (Settings → About).

PlexDeck 5.3.29

New (TV mode)

• A title's menu: press Triangle / Y (keyboard: C, Delete or the menu key) or right-click a movie, show, season or episode. You get:

  • Watch, Resume or Play from start
  • Mark as watched / unwatched
  • Audio & subtitles
  • Add to Playlist
  • Go to show

  This is how you mark a whole season as watched. In a playlist the menu also has Remove from Playlist.

• Quit menu: press Esc anywhere to get Switch to PC mode or Quit PlexDeck, with Cancel selected. Esc again closes it. Back on Home in the sidebar asks too. In the video player Esc still stops the video.

• The mouse works in TV mode:

  • Click to pick anything (sidebar, settings, tabs, cards, buttons, the A–Z bar, menus, Who's Watching).
  • Right-click opens a title's menu.
  • The wheel moves around, and the mouse's back button goes back.

• A key for every controller button:

  • Backspace goes back.
  • M opens Settings, like Options / Start.
  • Page Up / Page Down go to the previous / next episode in the player.
  • , / . skip back / forward, and + / − change the volume.
  • Settings → Advanced → Keyboard & Mouse lists them all.

Changed

• Marking a whole show or season as watched or unwatched asks first, with Cancel selected.
• Moving the mouse no longer switches to PC mode, so you can use it in TV mode. "Switch by itself" now only means controller → TV mode. To get to PC mode, use the title bar's PC button, F10 or the quit menu.
• Home in the sidebar takes you back to the Home page when you're deeper in, for example on a show.
• On Who's Watching, Backspace deletes a typed PIN digit, or goes back when there is none.

• A show's page, laid out like Plex's (TV mode). Opening a show now shows the show first, the way Plex does, instead of going straight to the episodes:
  • The poster on the left, with the title, year, genres, seasons and ratings beside it.
  • Watch / Resume plays the episode you're on, or the first one you haven't seen. Then Watchlist, Rate, Watched and ⋮, with the summary under them.
  • Seasons in a grid, each with its name and how many episodes it has. OK opens that season's episodes.
  • Cast & Crew, then your server's related rows, as in Plex: Related Shows, More from the network or studio, and More with each main actor. Then extras and trailers.
  • Moving down scrolls the details away, and the show's background stays.
