Decky RenoDX v0.7.0
New
- HDR for DirectX 8/9 games through dgVoodoo2 (for example Final Fantasy XIII). Special K's HDR and the AutoHDR addon need DirectX 10 or newer, so on DX9 games (and 32-bit DX8/DirectDraw games) they're now installed together with dgVoodoo2. dgVoodoo2 translates the game to DirectX 11, using a pinned, checksum-verified download.
- dgVoodoo2 is set up for DX11 output, no watermark, more video memory, and windowed mode, which gamescope scales.
- Special K then hooks
dxgiinstead of thed3d9injection that crashes in games like FF13. That's why the compatibility list's "needs delayed global injection" no longer blocks it there. - This is experimental and untested on a Deck. Remove HDR takes dgVoodoo2 out again.
- RHI's install fixes are applied:
- which executable to use, or which folder it's in (e.g. Borderlands 4's
OakGame/Binaries/Win64); - the graphics API when detection gets it wrong;
- the DLL name ReShade needs in some games;
- 32/64-bit;
- where Unreal games keep their
Engine.ini.
- which executable to use, or which folder it's in (e.g. Borderlands 4's
Decky RenoDX v0.6.0
New: best settings set up automatically
- Resource upgrades from the RenoDX wiki. Notes such as "
B8G8R8A8_TYPELESSOutput Size" or "Upgrade Copy DestinationsOn" are now written into the game's RenoDX settings. About 160 wiki entries carry them.- Settings marked optional or conditional ("if black screen occurs …") are left alone.
- Where a note offers a wider alternative ("
Output Ratiofor other percentages"), that one is used, because it covers both cases. - Nothing is written when the generic RenoDX addon already has its own defaults for the game.
- RHI's per-game RenoDX values (for example
Set_Path=1for Stellar Blade) are applied too. - Game and UI brightness follow Steam's "SDR content brightness" (Settings → Display → HDR), so the game's UI matches the Steam overlay. Peak brightness still comes from the screen.
- Unreal Engine.ini. For the 25 or so Unreal games whose wiki entry says "Engine.ini", the wiki's HDR lines are added to the game's
Engine.iniin its Proton prefix.- As the wiki advises, the file is made read-only, so in-game graphics settings won't save while HDR is installed.
- Remove HDR puts the original file back.
- If the game has never been launched, the panel asks for a Repair after the first launch.
- "Did HDR work? → Yes" remembers your RenoDX settings for that game. A later reinstall, even after Remove HDR, starts from them. Brightness is still matched to the current screen.
Fixes
- Repair applies the wiki's notes again. It used to reinstall from a stored summary that didn't include them.
Decky RenoDX v0.5.1
Fixes
- Steam Deck OLED peak brightness was set to 604 nits instead of 1000. The panel's EDID reports about 604 nits, but SteamOS's compositor (gamescope) ignores that and uses its own profile for the panel: 1000 nits peak, 800 full-frame. Games see gamescope's values, so the plugin now uses them for the Deck OLED, the Zotac Zone and the OneXPlayer F1. Games set up with 0.5.0 show Repair. It replaces the old automatic value, and anything you set yourself is kept.
Decky RenoDX v0.5.0
New
-
Brightness matched to your screen. On install, the plugin reads the active screen's HDR peak brightness from its EDID. Docked, that's the external screen. A Steam Deck OLED that reports none counts as 1000 nits. The value goes in:
- RenoDX: as the mod's peak brightness (
ToneMapPeakNits) inReShade.ini. - Special K: as its HDR luminance.
The screen and its peak are shown under Plugin → "Match brightness to the screen", which turns this off.
- RenoDX: as the mod's peak brightness (
Fixes
- Reinstalling or Repair no longer resets your RenoDX settings. Changes made in the RenoDX tab (presets, sliders) are carried over, and they win over the automatic brightness.
Decky RenoDX v0.4.6
Fixes
- Unity games got ReShade as
opengl32.dll, so it never showed up.UnityPlayer.dllalways links OpenGL, but Unity renders with Direct3D 11/12 on Windows, loading it at runtime. The plugin saw only the OpenGL import and hooked the wrong API: ReShade loaded, but never saw a frame. There was no banner, Home did nothing, and RenoDX never ran (Against the Storm, Wobbly Life). Unity games now getdxgi.dll, as in 0.0.x. Affected installs show Repair. - When the graphics API is only a guess from a game DLL's imports, PCGamingWiki's API list wins if it has one.
Decky RenoDX v0.4.5
Fixes
- ReShade didn't load (no banner, Home did nothing). The plugin used to install the newest ReShade from reshade.me. Since ReShade 6.8.0 (Aug 2026), fresh installs got 6.8.0, while the setups that worked used 6.7.3. ReShade is now pinned to 6.7.3. Games installed with another version show Repair, which switches them. Newer versions will be adopted after testing on a Deck.
- The ReShade installer is unpacked keeping its folders, so a same-named DLL in a subfolder can never be picked by mistake.
New
- The Check tab (Advanced → View logs) shows the installed ReShade version and the size of its DLL.
Decky RenoDX v0.4.4
Fixes
- After changing a game's launch options, the plugin reads them back from Steam. If Steam didn't save them, it says so and shows the options to set by hand. Before, a silent failure meant ReShade never loaded: no banner at launch, and Home did nothing.
New
- Report on GitHub now includes the Check tab's diagnostics in the report.
Decky RenoDX v0.4.3
Fixes
- HDR didn't turn on (0.2.0–0.4.2). 0.2.0 dropped
ENABLE_HDR_WSI=1andENABLE_GAMESCOPE_WSI=1from the launch options, on reasoning never tested on a Deck. Games then launched without HDR even with RenoDX installed (reported in Wobbly Life and Against the Storm). Both are back, matching the launch options that worked in 0.0.x. Games set up with 0.2.0–0.4.2 show Repair, which updates their launch options. - If you set one of these variables yourself (for example
ENABLE_GAMESCOPE_WSI=0to work around a crash), your value is kept instead of being overwritten.
New
- Advanced → View logs → Check explains why HDR might not be working: whether the files are in place, whether HDR is on in SteamOS, the game's current Steam launch options, whether ReShade has ever run in the game, and whether the RenoDX add-on loaded. A new ReShade tab shows the game's
ReShade.log.
Decky RenoDX v0.4.2
Changed
- Library tiles fill in by themselves. Games the plugin knows nothing about yet are looked up on PCGamingWiki in the background, about 50 games per request and cached for a week. ◆ (native HDR) and ◇ (Unreal/Unity, including games you haven't installed) appear on tiles a few seconds later, without opening each game first.
- Tile icons ignore edition suffixes when matching RenoDX mods ("… Game of the Year Edition", "… Remastered"), like the game page already did.
Decky RenoDX v0.4.1
New
- Badges in the library grid. Cover art tiles in the library (and Home's recent games) get a small corner icon: ● HDR set up, ★ RenoDX mod, ◆ native HDR, ◇ Unreal/Unity game where the generic addon may work. Tiles only use data the plugin already has, so ◆ appears once you've opened the game's page or panel (PCGamingWiki isn't asked about every tile). The "Library badges" switch under Plugin turns off both the tile icons and the game page badge.
