Patch Notes

Added official support for editing JSON files.

  • A custom parser is used to read, validate and write out the contents of JSON files
  • The JSON parser permits "trailing commas" - but automatically removes them when detected to ensure compliance with the JSON standard.

Other File Types

  • In the Open File dialog, you can now filter between "Officially Supported Files" and "All Files"
  • A warning will be given when opening an unsupported filetype.
  • As EntitySlayer currently stands, most "standard" decls should be fully supported and editable without issue. But unusual one like md6defs and animwebs will likely have issues.

Parser

  • Added support for escaped quotes in strings
  • Added support for tuples i.e. ( 1, 2, 3) or (1 2 3)
    • Their usage is heavily restricted in entities parsing mode. Permissive parsing mode allows for more usage of them
    • Currently there's no auto-formatting support - tuples will get parsed and stored exactly as they're written

Decompress on Error:

  • If an Oodle-compressed file fails to open, EntitySlayer will now decompresses it for you, so you can find and fix errors.
  • After fixing your errors, you can open the file in EntitySlayer and toggle compression back on.

New Menu Options

  • File --> Reload from Disk - Let's you quickly refresh the file if it's been edited outside of EntitySlayer
  • Advanced --> Fix Generated Traversals - See in-editor description. You probably won't ever need to use this.

Other Changes

  • Fix memory leak when a file fails to open. Not sure how I never noticed this until now...but it's fixed. Whoops.
  • Treeview: Minor improvements to node selection when a commit to the node tree is made
  • Editor: Removed automatic semicolon insertion when placing a double quote
  • Lots of internal refactoring that simplifies the overall codebase and yields some small performance gains
