Welcome to the SOE Setup on Windows guide! This guide provides step-by-step instructions for setting up the Standard Operating Environment (SOE) on Windows using Windows Terminal and [PowerShell], a command-line shell.

Prepare for the SOE

Use the CPython minor series supplied by current Ubuntu LTS − 1 for the SOE on Windows. Select the SOE manifest's runtime in the Python Install Manager and VS Code; other installed Python versions may remain for unrelated work. Codio Boxes and VMs, Codespaces, and local Docker follow the same Ubuntu/Python target under the approved SOE policy.

Install the SOE

Copy and run the following command block to a terminal window. For help using a terminal, see Terminal Basics.
