This release completes the codebase simplification effort, reducing complexity and improving maintainability.

Major Changes

Code Removed (~2,700 LOC net reduction)

  • MCP client layer eliminated - Tools now call backend directly (removed tabz-mcp-server/src/client/)
  • Unused dependencies removed - 221 npm packages cleaned up
  • Dead code deleted - Offline menu scripts, stale configs

Code Refactored

  • useAudioNotifications split - 544 LOC → 85 LOC with focused modules:
    • useAudioPlayback.ts - Audio API, debouncing
    • useStatusTransitions.ts - Status change detection
    • useSessionAnnouncements.ts - Session-based announcements
  • WebSocket boilerplate extracted - makeBrowserRequest() helper (~1,000 LOC saved)
  • New reusable hooks - useChromeSetting, useDragDrop, useOutsideClick
  • SettingsContext extracted - Reduced prop drilling in SettingsModal

Bug Fixes

  • Font color selection decoupled from background gradient
  • "Open Reference" now correctly switches to Files page
  • TypeScript NodeJS namespace errors resolved
  • tui-tools.js bug fixed

Documentation

  • All docs updated to reflect new architecture
  • Version synced to 1.2.19 throughout
  • MCP tool count updated to 37
  • Skills synced between .claude/ and plugins/
