v0.9.1b — Multiplayer test
🧪 Multiplayer test release
This version adds online play by join code. It works on one PC but has not yet been tried between two separate homes. Please play a match with a friend and report how it went, with both players'
online.logattached (see the bottom of this page).
Star Wars: The Clone Wars (Xbox, 2002) running natively on Windows.
Required disc: Star Wars: The Clone Wars for the original Xbox, USA (NTSC-U) retail release: the Redump dump "Star Wars - The Clone Wars (USA)" (its default.xbe is dated 2003-04-04). Full disc dumps and trimmed .xiso images both work. European (PAL) and other versions are not supported.
How to play
- Download
CloneWars-PC.zipand unzip it into an empty folder. - Put your disc image of the game (
.iso/.xiso) in the same folder. - Double-click
CloneWars32.exe. The first start unpacks the disc image (about 1.5 GB); after that the game starts straight away.
Nothing to install on Windows 10/11. (Windows "N" editions need the Media Feature Pack for the movies.) No game data is included; you need your own copy of the game. Instructions are also in README.txt inside the zip.
Online play with a friend (new)
System Link now works over the internet. Your friend joins with a short code. There is no server, account or extra app.
Hosting
- Main menu: Network Play → System Link → Create.
- Your code appears in white at the bottom of the screen, e.g.
JOIN CODE: ABCD-EFG. It's also in the window title and copied to your clipboard. Send it to your friend. - When they appear in the lobby, choose Launch.
Joining
- Main menu: Network Play → System Link → Search.
- Type the code in the box that pops up (dash optional) and press Join. You land in the host's lobby.
Good to know
- The first time, Windows Firewall asks whether to allow the game on networks: allow it, on both PCs.
- Both players need this same version (0.9.1b).
- If the join doesn't connect, the host can forward UDP port 34100 on their router to their PC and try again.
What's fixed and improved since 0.9.0b
- Online play by join code (see above), with an
online.logwritten every run so connection problems can be diagnosed - Faster: split-screen 4-player runs about 45% faster and the game uses about half the processor it did, which helps older PCs
- Conquest freezes fixed: a maths error made tank cannons go haywire and could lock up the game
- Boost zoom-blur shows the scene instead of a black screen (#1)
- Split-screen keeps the original 4:3 layout, so each player's HUD is no longer cut off
- Rock spires on the System Link maps no longer show green and purple streaks
- Sharper menu text in a clean font (Michroma) at any resolution
- Two copies of the game can now run on one PC (needed for testing System Link on one machine)
Known issues
- Online play is untested between two separate homes (that's what this release is for)
- Pre-baked terrain sun shadows are not drawn yet
- A few pixel shaders fall back to a simplified version
- Ultrawide (21:9) is unsupported
Please report
Open an issue on the Issues tab with:
- Did the joiner reach the lobby? Did the match start and stay in sync?
- Each player's connection: home broadband, mobile hotspot, etc.
- Any freeze, disconnect or visual glitch, and roughly when it happened.
- 📎 Both players'
online.log. The game writes it next toCloneWars32.exeevery time it runs. The run before is kept asonline.old.log, so send that one if you've restarted since. It records each step of hosting and joining with the time, and holds no personal details: internet addresses are cut to their first half (68.38.*.*).
For single-player bugs, include the mission and roughly where it happened.
