GTA VI-Inspired HUD 2.8.0
Tip
🔄 Updating? Just one file
Already have 2.5.1 or newer? Install the new HUD package over the old one, the same way as before:
- Legacy:
GTA-VI-Inspired-HUD-2.8.0-Legacy.oivwith OpenIV, to the mods folder. - Enhanced:
GTA-VI-Inspired-HUD-2.8.0-Enhanced.oivwith the OIV Package Installer.
The loading screens haven't changed since 2.6.5, so there's no need to install them again.
Game in Program Files? Right-click OpenIV or the OIV Package Installer (CodeWalker.OIVInstaller.exe) →
Run as administrator before you install, or the old files can stay in place.
No need to reinstall Script Hook V, Script Hook V .NET, OpenIV or OpenRPF.
- Your progress stays. Saves are never touched by the package.
- Your settings go back to the defaults: the package brings fresh
.inifiles (andMiniMap.settings), so if you changed any settings, note them down first. - Your BuckMe balance moves into your character's own money the first time you play: the feed says so. Save the game to keep it.
- NaturalVision Enhanced users: two packs changed (
vihudfontsandvihudanims): copy both folders frommods\update\x64\dlcpacksintoonigiri\dlcpacksagain.
Warning
🌐 English only
The HUD is made and tested with GTA V set to English, and English is the only language we support.
In other languages some text can show up as empty boxes, and switching characters has been reported to crash.
Please set GTA V's language to English in your game launcher's settings for GTA V before you play.

A GTA VI-style HUD and minimap for GTA V story mode, maintained by Geckomacabre, with features ported from the FiveM version.
Fan-made and inspired by GTA VI. Not affiliated with Rockstar Games or Take-Two. Some HUD art is taken from Rockstar's official GTA VI media and belongs to Rockstar Games. No GTA VI game files are included.
New in 2.8.0
- Sit anywhere. Stand still facing a bench, a low wall, a ledge or a drop and SIT comes up (E). A wall taller than you gives LEAN. E again or walking off gets you up. A port of Invalid0190's dynamic-sit (MIT).
- People walking their dogs. Now and then a big dog poops and its owner bags it, or leaves it there. Punch an owner and the bag drops: pick it up and throw it. It's a new thrown weapon, the Poo Bag.
- Hostages in bank and Vangelico robberies. Aim at a customer or teller and hold E. The police outside wait longer for each hostage, and you can let one go or hold one in front of you as a human shield. The Fleecas, empty in story mode, now have two tellers and three customers.
- The robbery drill works, as GTA Online's Fleeca drill: mouse forward pushes the bit, the left button (or RT) spins it. Fleeca vault doors swing open once drilled, and Pacific Standard's gates are locked until you drill them.
- BuckMe is your character's own bank account. Wallet and BuckMe together are the game's own money, kept in your save: Michael, Franklin and Trevor each have their own, and a save you don't keep takes it back (thanks to 3onet).
- The mouse steers the weapon wheel, as in GTA V: hold Tab and nudge the mouse toward a weapon.
- On Demand shuffles your music, every song once before any comes round again.
- Cloned keys dial up. A car you cloned the key of plays the key cloner's dial-up as you get in and out (thanks to ROMAN2K).
- Calmer police and streets. The police lights only show while you're wanted, the wanted stars stop flickering in a chase, patrols no longer park for hours, gangs come for you once and muggers half as often, and honor goes to 1000.
Fixed
- A freeze when On Demand started a song. The game could hang for good inside Windows' sound drivers. Sounds now go straight to your default sound device, opened once and reused.
- Weapons in a car's trunk no longer vanish, and TRUNK stays away during missions.
- Enhanced: notifications are the HUD's dark cards again, not washed-out grey ones.
- The clothes shop's dark edges over its menu, the ATM's amount stuck at $0 (it now says why), the trunk's title under the ammo, and Trevor's camera on the train jump.
- An update that didn't take effect fixes itself: the HUD spots Script Hook V .NET's old cached copy, and the feed says to restart once.
Guides
- Troubleshooting rows for "Blocking script!" and "ScriptHookVDotNet.asi failed to load", in both guides and the translations.
Everything is in the changelog.

- Enhanced: taking the pump's nozzle no longer crashes the game. The first time you took a nozzle in a session, its hose was made before the game had loaded rope textures, and on Enhanced that could close the game.
- E works again at the game's own prompts. In 2.7.2, on foot, E did nothing at wardrobes, barbers, Ammu-Nation, the gym or prompts in missions: the pump's nozzle took it every frame. It now takes E only at a pump or with the nozzle in your hand. (Stuck on 2.7.2?
FuelNozzle = FalseinViExtras.iniwas the workaround; you can put it back toTrue.) - The gym. Bench press at Muscle Beach puts you on the bench with its barbell, pressing (a short fade on and off), instead of standing you in the bench. Chin-ups hang from the right bar, facing it, at the game's own spot, instead of half in the sand. Push-ups and sit-ups no longer stop after 3 seconds with "Cannot do that here." And every rep is counted as you do it, not on a timer.
- No old minimap fighting the new one. Installing removes an older minimap plugin (
MiniMap.asi,MiniMapHudPresent.asi,scripts\MiniMap.dll) from an earlier install or another 3D minimap mod, which drew over the HUD's and made its icons flicker. It also removes the files FBICat's 2.1 left that no version uses since. A Lucia you added stays. ViExtras.logshows the version you're playing. It starts afresh each session, with this session's version on its first line, and keeps the last session's asViExtras.prev.log.

- Fill up with the pump's nozzle, as in FiveM. On foot at a gas station, E at a pump takes its nozzle, on a hose back to the pump. E at your car's fuel cap puts it in, and the tank fills on the vehicle card's gauge while you pay as it goes in, at the SERVICES menu's price. It stops by itself when the tank is full or your cash runs out. E at the cap takes it out, and E at the pump hangs it up. Walk or drive off with it in and the hose comes off. The SERVICES menu still works from the car.
FuelNozzleinViExtras.initurns it off;[Nozzle]sets how fast it fills and how long the hose is.
Fixed in 2.7.2
- Minimap icons stay up when you get close. Shops and other places no longer vanish behind their own building on the minimap: icons and blips are drawn over the 3D buildings, as GTA's own minimap draws them.
- One pink marker for a mission. The pink circle sits on the objective itself instead of on the road nearest it, its yellow dot comes off, and GTA's other yellow mission blips are drawn pink. Waypoints stay teal.
- Legacy: notifications clear of the minimap. On Legacy they stayed in the minimap's corner, under the 3D map. They now hang at the left, where the wanted box goes, as on Enhanced. (The Legacy package now also puts the HUD's notification movie in
update.rpf, where Legacy loads it.)

- A livelier minimap, as in the FiveM version. It shows on foot now, with stamina rings going out from your marker while you sprint. On a roof the city falls away below you, and under a parachute it shrinks. The GPS route shows on foot too, the roads have lane lines, the top of the map pales toward the horizon, dusk and dawn come gradually, and the wanted colours fade into each other.
MiniMap.settingshas a switch for each. - A waypoint on a place shows the place. Set it on a shop, a garage or anywhere with a picture, and the minimap shows that picture where the pin would be.
- Maps for world map mods. With a map mod's pictures in
scripts\ViMap, the minimap and the pause map match the world you're in ([MapPictures]inGTA6Hud.ini). Thanks to GAVRA, whose VI map support showed how. - Shotguns and rifles get their own crosshair, as in FBICat's original: two brackets for shotguns that spread with each shot, and for rifles, SMGs and machine guns a dot that opens into a ring while you fire. Pistols keep the three ticks, and sniper rifles their scope.
- An uninstaller.
GTA-VI-Inspired-HUD-Uninstall-Legacy.oivandGTA-VI-Inspired-HUD-Uninstall-Enhanced.oiv, inextras/, take the HUD off again, and only the HUD.
Fixed in 2.7.1
- BuckMe pays at Leonida Customs. With the $20,000 cash limit, dearer upgrades and repairs said "Payment declined" whatever was in BuckMe. Now your cash goes first and BuckMe pays the rest. (The limit is
WalletCapunder[TopRight]inGTA6Hud.ini; the install guides show how to raise it.) - You can buy businesses with BuckMe. The bars, the cinemas, Smoke on the Water, the Golf Club and the rest only looked at your wallet. BuckMe is now lent to it while you stand at a business's For Sale sign; buy, and the price comes out of your cash first, then BuckMe. Walk away, and it goes back.
- The wanted box's star is the same star as the ones above it, in the same state, instead of always dark red.
- Police stations are back on the minimap.

- Key cloning. At a locked car's door, CLONE KEY (E, Square on a controller) is a timing game on the ring: press while the dot sweeps through the pink window, three times, and the door unlocks with no alarm. Miss three times and the alarm goes off. It's the quiet way into a car with an immobiliser (the ones Waink marks NEEDS KEY CLONER), and Waink's immobiliser cars use the same game. Get a key cloner at any store counter for $2,500, or by selling five cars to the fence.
- The slim jim plays like the FiveM version. Press the slim jim key once, then hold the left mouse button and drag, or push the right stick. Left all the way opens the door; right all the way is the trap that sets the alarm off, and the ring won't tell you which is which. Your character steps up to the door and works a real 50 cm strip into the window while you do it. Waink's parked cars use the same ring, with one press of E instead of holding it.
- POLICE LIGHTS can go to 0% in HUD OPTIONS (hold V). The direction arrow keeps its own switch.
- Jason gets the GTA VI clothes shop, the same stands as Lucia, with his own model's clothes, hair and beards.
Fixed in 2.7
- Controller prompts take the button they show. The ATM, the basketball hoop and the key cloner answer to Square, a drink to R1, the car scanner's SCAN shows R1, and scuba DIVE works with Square. D-pad right still works too.
- One SMASH WINDOW at a locked car. The extra "F SMASH WINDOW" marker over the car is gone; the door's own SMASH WINDOW row stays.
- Shops show on the pause map again, even on a busy map after the story.
- Masks are masks. Michael's, Franklin's and Trevor's MASKS row has only their real masks now, no bags or harnesses, and only those hide your face. Their beards no longer count as a mask.
- Turning the crosshair off under
[Crosshair]inViExtras.iniworks, and HUD OPTIONS changes both of its lines.

- The wanted minimap, as in GTA VI. Matched against the footage: blue when the police are first called and while they're looking for someone nobody has seen, red and blue a second each while they can see you or are chasing you, solid red while you shoot or hold someone at gunpoint, and back to normal once you've lost them. The 3D buildings keep their light and shade under the colour.
MiniMap.settingsChaseFlash = 0brings back the old red tint. - Eight more switches in HUD OPTIONS. Hold V: CROSSHAIR, KILL MARKS, VI WANTED STARS, WANTED BOX, CAMERA WEIGHT, BINOCULARS, CALMER POLICE and MONEY IN STORES, each taking effect at once, no restart. The menu shows 13 rows at a time and scrolls.
- Easy switches at the top of the ini files.
ViExtras.iniandGTA6Hud.ininow open with one plainTrue/Falseline per feature, each with a short note. The numbers are further down, under ADVANCED. - Calmer police. They send units half as often and from about 300 m away, search where they last saw you instead of following you, and lose you once you've been out of sight for 10 seconds plus 5 a star. The bounty's patrols only come while you're wanted and for 10 minutes after.
[Switches] CalmerPolice = Falsebrings back GTA V's police. - Your money in stores. As in GTA VI, it stays up while you're in a store, and goes grey while the item you're looking at costs more than you have (in the HUD's own stores and Leonida Customs).
- More ways to earn honor back. Clean escapes, laying low, standing up for a bystander and petting dogs (E on a dog). A bad deed a cop sees costs more, and people back off from a Psycho.
- People forget. What someone saw you do is forgotten 10 minutes after they last saw you, and what people think of you fades by half every 20 minutes.
- Jason can change his look at any clothes rack or barber's, from the parts of the Jason model you installed (Jason Duval Extended Look works), and the shops are on the map while you play Lucia or Jason.
- A quieter minimap, as in GTA VI: no shop, bar, car wash or gas station icons (the pause map still has them). And your gun is at the top right only while it's out.
- Switches for stun guns and heists:
ViExtras.ini[Switches] StunGuns = Falseleaves the police their own guns,GTA6Hud.ini[Heists] Enabled = Falseturns the heists off.
Fixed in 2.6.5
- Legacy: notifications you can read. The cards came out pale, almost white. They're GTA's own dark ones again.
- HUD OPTIONS leaves your files as they are. Flipping one of FBICat's switches no longer writes
GTA6Hud.iniagain from scratch (its notes went), and the minimap's switches no longer wipe the rest ofMiniMap.settings. - No more Chop on the character cards.

Fixed in 2.6.4
- BuckMe no longer pays out the same money again. The HUD keeps your cash at $20,000 and puts the rest into BuckMe, which it saves straight away, while the game only keeps your lower cash when it saves. So switching to a character with more than $20,000 put that money into BuckMe again in every session that ended without saving. Now the HUD remembers what it already moved. Money you pick up while playing goes into BuckMe as before.
Already have a huge balance? Close the game and set the number inscripts\Hud\Save\buckme.txtto what you want.
New in 2.6.4
- Empty balances show grey. In the money row at the top right, BuckMe's purple icon and the wallet's green one turn grey while that balance is $0, and take their colour back as soon as there's money in it.
- Easier install guides. Both guides now go one step at a time, and the Legacy guide has a part on playing with LSPDFR: what the HUD does on duty, and the keys you may want to change.
Everything is in the changelog.

🔄 Updating? Just one file
Already have 2.5.1 or newer? Install the new HUD package over the old one, the same way as before:
- Legacy:
GTA-VI-Inspired-HUD-2.6.3-Legacy.oivwith OpenIV, to the mods folder. - Enhanced:
GTA-VI-Inspired-HUD-2.6.3-Enhanced.oivwith the OIV Package Installer.
- Your settings go back to the defaults: the package brings fresh
.inifiles, so if you changed any settings, note them down first. - NaturalVision Enhanced users: the loading screens are new on Enhanced. To see them, copy
scaleform_frontend.rpffrommods\update\update.rpf\x64\data\cdimagesintoonigiri\platform\data\cdimages(the Enhanced guide shows how). The packs didn't change, so there's nothing else to copy.

- Switching characters works without Lucia. On 2.6.2, which comes without Lucia, the keyboard and the controller switched nobody (only a story mission's own switches worked). The character wheel now runs with whoever's in your game.
- Switching characters works on a controller. Letting go of the card you picked now switches to them.
- Cops let you go when your stars do. A cop told to arrest you, or to hold you at gunpoint, used to keep at it after your stars were gone. Now he goes back to what he was doing.
- Fewer street fights. People near you started an argument every few seconds, and four in ten ended in a fight to the death, mostly with bats. Arguments now come at least 30 to 60 seconds apart, 15% of them end in a fight, and one person in five carries a melee weapon (
GTA6Hud.ini[World]and[Interactions] MeleeChanceset these). - The crash camera hands your view back where it was, not a few degrees lower.
- On Demand switches stations with Left / Right, and the mouse wheel changes the song.
- Jason can walk into the clothes stores and Ammu-Nation.
- Installing never lowers another mod's limits. The package only raises a
gameconfig.xmllimit that's lower than the HUD needs, so mods with bigger ones (like Rebalanced Dispatch Enhanced) keep theirs.
New in 2.6.3
- More prompts in the world, and sooner. The store hold-up's THREATEN and a mugging's ROB sit on the person, the shops' prompts at the clerk, and the game's own "Press E to ..." prompts come up in the world instead of the top-left box. Every prompt shows up without looking straight at it, and a car door's ENTER from 3.5 m.
- The driving camera has weight. Land a jump, hit a bump hard or crash, and the camera dips with your car or bike, then eases back, as in GTA VI.
- The 3D minimap in helicopters and planes. It zooms out the higher you fly.
- Greet and Antagonize have voices. Michael, Franklin and Trevor say hello or insult people in their own voices, and people answer.
- Loading screens with Rockstar's whole Vice City pictures, on Enhanced too.
- Rebalanced Dispatch Enhanced and Los Santos RED (Legacy), new and only tested briefly. The HUD steps out of their way when they run: see the Legacy guide. We've tried each in one short run, so tell us how it goes with yours.
Everything is in the changelog.

- Notifications clear of the minimap, for real this time. 2.6.1's move beside the minimap didn't take, so in a car notifications still sat behind the 3D map. They now sit at the left, where GTA VI's wanted box goes, newest on top. That keeps them clear of the map and the vehicle card on any screen. While the wanted box is up, they move just under it.
- Map icons stay off your notifications. The house over a safehouse and your car's badge are no longer drawn on top of notifications.
Everything else that's new in 2.6 (GTA VI's character switcher, heists, GTA VI's police lights, one-file install and more) is in the 2.6.0 release, with more fixes in 2.6.1, and all of it is in the changelog.

- GTA's tips show again. The tips and tutorials at the top left (like "You can now buy properties") only played their sound when the HUD couldn't redraw them in its own style. Now GTA's own box shows for those.
- Notifications beside the minimap. In a car, GTA's notifications sat behind the 3D minimap. While the map is on screen they now sit to its right.
- The minimap's mission circle stays put. In missions, the yellow circle no longer flickers, jumps far from the mission, or sits on top of the pink one.
- A Lucia or Jason under another model name keeps their own honor.
New: the Jason kit
Jason's download is only his model files, so there was no pack to switch on. GTA-VI-Inspired-HUD-Jason-Kit.zip is that pack without Jason: drop his 4 files in, add one line to dlclist.xml, and he's on the character wheel. The steps are in your install guide's "Optional: Jason" section. Get Jason from Lucia's creator or Jason Duval character from GTA VI on mod-hub.net.
Everything else that's new in 2.6 (GTA VI's character switcher, heists, GTA VI's police lights, one-file install and more) is in the 2.6.0 release and the changelog.
