Bridge Ultra v1.1.0

First public release. Brings a rewritten native installer GUI on top of
the v1.0 bridging runtime, plus a sweep of stability fixes for plugin
GUI, project save, and sub-process lifecycle.

第一次公开发布。在 v1.0 桥接运行时的基础上重写了原生安装器 GUI,并修了
一批插件 GUI、工程保存、子进程生命周期相关的稳定性问题。

Install

Download BridgeUltra-Setup-1.1.0.exe below, double-click, accept the
UAC prompt. The installer copies three binaries to
%ProgramFiles%\Bridge Ultra\ and registers an Apps & Features entry
for clean uninstall.

下载下方 BridgeUltra-Setup-1.1.0.exe,双击运行,授予管理员权限。
安装器会把三个二进制安装到 %ProgramFiles%\Bridge Ultra\ 并注册到
"应用和功能"以便干净卸载。

What's new

Installer

  • New native GUI — Win32 + Direct2D + DirectWrite, bilingual zh/en,
    system theme aware (light / dark / high-contrast), keyboard-traversable,
    fixed 960×640 design.
  • Robust overwrite install — uses MoveFileEx rename-aside +
delete-on-reboot so the installer can replace BridgeUltra.exe even
while a previous instance is running. Also kills any running
BridgeUltra.exe instance first via TerminateProcess before copying
    the new binary in.
  • Theme detection under elevation — the installer reads
AppsUseLightTheme from the launching user's HKEY_USERS hive
(resolved via the active console session SID) rather than
HKEY_CURRENT_USER, so the elevated installer no longer paints dark
    over a user's light theme.

GUI stability

  • Cross-process plugin window survives DAW panel teardown —
    introduced a JBridge-style stash-parent pattern (off-screen WS_VISIBLE
WS_POPUP top-level window). When the DAW's plugin panel is destroyed
on close, our 64-bit container reparents to the stash window instead
of being recursively destroyed. Re-open reparents back, the plugin's
32-bit child rides along, no effEditClose(value=1) round-trip is
needed. Fixes "GUI doesn't appear on second open" for Cakewalk-style
skin engines (Delay R3, Native Reverb Plus, Surround R3).
  • Win11 minimise → restore — SWP_FRAMECHANGED re-broadcast on
SIZE_RESTORED forces DWM to re-apply our custom NCCALCSIZE rule,
fixing the "transparent / blank window after minimise" symptom on
    Win11 22H2+.

IPC / lifecycle

  • Studio One save latency — effSetProgram / effGetProgram
fast-fail on dead IPC instead of burning a 5 s timeout per opcode.
Per-plugin save loss drops from up to 25 s to under 600 ms when the
    child sub-process has gone unresponsive.
  • host32 zombie processes — control_pipe_server::ioLoop now
clears its running_ flag on every exit path (was: only on
K_SHUTDOWN). The 32-bit sub-process now exits cleanly when the DAW
unloads the plugin, instead of lingering until the DAW process dies.

Known issues

  • Extremely rapid double-click cycles on a plugin slot can occasionally
leave the editor blank in some hosts. Mitigations cover the common
patterns; the v2.0 roadmap is to adopt the carla-bridge-win32 full
GUI shell model for complete robustness.
  • DRM / iLok-protected plugins inspect the parent process tree and may
reject loading under BridgeUltraHost32.exe. No workaround planned.

Compatibility

  • Windows 10 1809+ / Windows 11 (64-bit only)
  • 64-bit DAW host (Studio One, Cubase, Reaper, FL Studio, Ableton Live,
    Bitwig …) targeting VST2
