reroll 1.0.0
The first release of reroll: Rollcage (1999, PC) rewritten in C and running as a native 64-bit Linux program, with the original physics and feel.
You need your own copy of the Rollcage PC CD (or an image of it). This release contains only the program and its scripts. It includes no game code, data or assets.
Highlights
- Any resolution, ultrawide included; the HUD stays in the original 4:3 middle
- Vulkan renderer, races drawn at up to 500 fps with blended frames between the original 32 ms physics steps
- Longer draw distance, anisotropic filtering, fullscreen/windowed and resolution options in the menus
- Modern gamepads through SDL3 with hot-plugging, force feedback as rumble
- OpenAL Soft sound with the original EAX environmental audio as EFX reverb
- Network play over the internet (TCP/IP) on a new UDP transport: the host forwards UDP 47700, and the other players type the host's address
- The original's intro movies, with an option to skip them
