Source checkpoint: b4abf57. This is a source-only public pre-release, not a tested desktop-package release. No desktop binaries, signing or packaged smoke test are claimed. Hosted-game deployment and packaged save compatibility are not certified by publication.
Scope and limits
This immutable checkpoint contains 22 merged changes since beta.3, including the save-confirmation and storage-failure work (#669) and the grouped route, armory-feedback, campaign-form and effective-capacity fixes (#670). Later main commits and open pull requests are not included. The merged pull requests passed exact-head review and their required CI; this is not a new end-to-end acceptance of every game system. QA remains in progress.
Export a save backup before changing versions. Downgrade behavior and packaged save compatibility have not been newly certified. Existing beta.3 source remains available at its immutable tag. No older desktop assets are relabeled for this release.

Verify your download
Download SHA256SUMS.txt alongside your chosen package and compare its SHA-256 hash with the matching filename in the manifest.
- Linux:
sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS.txt --ignore-missing - macOS:
shasum -a 256 <downloaded-file>, then compare with the manifest. - Windows PowerShell:
Get-FileHash .\El.Almojarife.Setup.0.5.0-beta.2.exe -Algorithm SHA256, then compare with the manifest.
Checksums detect a mismatched download; they are not platform code signing. Do not disable operating-system protections to install a beta. No new platform installation or gameplay test is claimed by this notes-only translation.
This is a beta and may contain bugs. Export a save backup before changing versions. Report problems in an issue.
Editorial update, 28 October 2026: title and notes translated into English, download wording limited to the actual attached assets, and verification commands clarified. The tag, assets and Latest designation are unchanged.
El Almojarife v0.5.0-beta.1
El Almojarife v0.5.0-beta.1
The first public beta of El Almojarife, a desktop trading game set around Iberia and North Africa. Start a merchant house, trade between ports, build a fleet and plan routes through changing weather and events at sea. The game is available in English and Spanish.
This is a beta, not the finished campaign. Balance, interface details and saves may change as development continues.
Trade, sail and build
- Trade across 33 ports with 20 goods, manage storage and workshops, and grow your standing as a merchant.
- Set automatic routes, repeat the last voyage and see profit per trip. Automatic hull repairs respect your route's cash limit.
- Read a seven-day weather forecast and make choices during voyage events. Where pirate-fighting odds are marked approximate, they are estimates rather than exact predictions.
- Use city services, buy plots and build. Free lots are visually separate from buildings and fill their street blocks. Decorative neighbours' houses are not drawn.
What is clearer in this beta
Fewer missed actions. Pending voyage events remain accessible after the interface refreshes and inside city view. Messages separate actions that need your attention from grouped notices. Panel buttons stay in place during an active mouse press.
Better trading and ship feedback. The shipyard explains purchases blocked by your location. Repairs and arming require the ship to be docked at that port. The Market's cargo filter appears only when you have a local warehouse and includes stored goods. Office and City panels explain rank progress and available services.
More direct navigation. Right-clicking a free-navigation destination sails immediately. A rejected course still explains why it cannot be taken.
More readable city and finance panels. Market columns are centred. Aggregate money values use whole numbers in the top bar and finance card, without changing stored cents or calculations. Construction feedback shows missing coins, and selecting a build action centres its confirmation below the panel header.
A more useful city view. Bounded zoom-out keeps the town readable. The first city frame waits for currently needed sprites, with other levels loading in the background. A newly built higher-level building may briefly use level 1 art while its sprite arrives.
Extra save opportunities. The game attempts an autosave every three minutes and when the page becomes hidden or is left, skipping identical campaign data. Browser lifecycle saves are best effort, not protection against every crash or shutdown.
Larger windows and lighter city rendering. Floating windows scale with the desktop viewport. Static terrain is cached between frames and existing sprites are compressed to reduce transfer size. These are rendering changes, not a promise of a particular frame rate or loading time.
A clearer building flow. Purchase confirmation has one Buy step. After purchase, a short guide points to the building choices. Empty owned plots are labelled "Your plot". City lot drawings fit their street blocks; Cádiz uses a fixed, historically inspired presentation, not a certified reconstruction.
Before you play
- Use a desktop browser with a keyboard and mouse. Phones and tablets are not supported.
- Export a backup before trying a new build. Cross-version save migration is not promised for this beta.
- The campaign and balance are still in development. This is not a 1.0 release.
- The Market no longer offers price-alert controls. Alerts already present in a saved game may still fire, without a management interface in that window.
Desktop packages and verification
Unsigned desktop packages are available for Windows x64 (installer and portable executable), macOS Apple Silicon (DMG and ZIP), and Linux x64 (AppImage and deb). They are not signed or notarized. Follow the desktop instructions.
- Windows and macOS ARM64: packaged applications reached the title menu on native CI runners. Installer flow, OS trust prompts and a full play session were not tested. Intel Macs were not tested.
- Linux x64: an extracted AppImage ran under Xvfb through a new game, manual save, return to title and Continue. Campaign data matched after reload. This test used
--disable-setuid-sandboxin a test container; FUSE launch, deb installation and ordinary desktop sandbox setup were not tested. - Desktop build and native menu checks and CI passed for candidate
