@HB9IIU HB9IIU released this 02 Nov 19:48

The first official release of DATVision: a DATV receiver (DVB-S and DVB-S2) for an RTL-SDR stick, on a Raspberry Pi touchscreen and on Windows.

Raspberry Pi

Raspberry Pi 5 or 4, Raspberry Pi OS 64-bit with desktop (Bookworm or Trixie). In a terminal:

curl -fsSL https://github.com/HB9IIU/DATVision/releases/latest/download/install.sh | bash

The same command updates an earlier installation and keeps its settings. Remove with bash install.sh --uninstall.

Windows

Windows 10/11 x64. Download DATVision-1.0.0-win-x64.zip, extract the whole folder to a writable place and open DATVision.exe; no installation, .NET or MSYS2 needed. The RTL-SDR needs the WinUSB driver (Zadig). The app is not code-signed: Windows SmartScreen may ask for confirmation the first time.

What it does

  • DVB-S and DVB-S2 up to 1500 kS/s with an RTL-SDR Blog V4 or R820T stick
  • QO-100 with the BATC spectrum or a local scan, and LNB calibration on the beacon
  • 4 m, 2 m, 70 cm, 23 cm, and 6 cm through a downconverter
  • Tap or click a signal to tune; Es/N0, D margin, magic eye and constellation
  • H.264, H.265 and H.266 (VVC) video; on the Raspberry Pi, H.266 needs Raspberry Pi OS Trixie
  • Recording and playback of transport streams
  • Live network stream to VLC on the home network
