ClipKeep 1.3.1

Choose a tag to compare

@HBL-LL HBL-LL released this 24 Oct 23:34

A small menu bar clipboard manager for macOS 14+ (Apple Silicon and Intel).

What's new in 1.3.1

  • No more surprise permission pop-ups: choosing a clip no longer brings up macOS's "would like to control this Mac" dialog when ClipKeep isn't allowed to paste. The clip is copied and you press ⌘V. The history window shows a small note instead, with Allow… and Not Now.
  • Fixes "it's switched on but doesn't work": after an update, macOS could keep ClipKeep's old Accessibility entry switched on even though it no longer applied. Allow… (and Grant Access… in Settings → Pasting) now replaces that old entry, so you just switch ClipKeep on.

Coming from 1.3.0? Update with Settings → Updates → Check for Updates, or right-click the menu bar icon → Check for Updates. Your Accessibility permission carries over. Coming from 1.2.1 or earlier? After updating, click Allow… in the history window and switch ClipKeep on, once.

Install

Quickest: open Terminal and paste this line. It downloads ClipKeep, checks it, puts it in Applications and opens it, with no security warning:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/HBL-LL/ClipKeep/main/install.sh | bash

Or with the DMG:

  1. Download ClipKeep.dmg below, open it, and drag ClipKeep onto Applications.
  2. Open ClipKeep. It isn't signed with a paid Apple Developer ID, so macOS says it "could not verify" it. Click Done.
  3. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down, click Open Anyway next to ClipKeep, and enter your password.
  4. Open ClipKeep again and confirm. You only have to do this once.

ClipKeep lives in the menu bar. Press ⇧⌘V or click its icon to open your clipboard history. To let it paste for you, click Allow… in the history window, or allow it in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.

ClipKeep.zip contains the same app; the in-app updater uses it.

ClipKeep 1.3.0

@HBL-LL HBL-LL released this 24 Oct 23:01

A small menu bar clipboard manager for macOS 14+ (Apple Silicon and Intel).

What's new in 1.3.0

  • Edit clips: select a text clip and press ⌘E, click Edit at the bottom of the history window, or right-click it → Edit…. Change the text right in the window, then press ⌘↩ to save or esc to cancel. Copy, paste, select all and undo work while editing.
  • Edited clips keep their place, pin and source app. Saving keeps the plain text and drops any formatting. Image clips can't be edited.

Already using ClipKeep? Open Settings → Updates and click Check for Updates, or right-click the menu bar icon → Check for Updates.

After updating to 1.3.0, allow Accessibility once more: 1.3.0 is signed with a new certificate, so macOS sees it as a new app. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility, remove the old ClipKeep entry with −, and turn ClipKeep back on. Future updates keep the permission.

Install

Quickest: open Terminal and paste this line. It downloads ClipKeep, checks it, puts it in Applications and opens it, with no security warning:

ClipKeep 1.2.1

@HBL-LL HBL-LL released this 24 Oct 18:17

A small menu bar clipboard manager for macOS 14+ (Apple Silicon and Intel).

What's new in 1.2.1

  • Accessibility permission now survives updates. ClipKeep is signed with a stable certificate, so macOS keeps recognising it after every update.
  • Live Accessibility status: Settings → Pasting switches to "Allowed" the moment access is granted, and explains what to do if an old entry is stuck, with an Open Settings button.

One last time after updating to 1.2.1: if pasting for you stops working, open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility, select ClipKeep, click −, then click Grant Access… in ClipKeep's Settings → Pasting. From 1.2.1 on, this won't be needed after updates.

Already using ClipKeep? Right-click the menu bar icon → Check for Updates…, or Settings → Updates.

@HBL-LL HBL-LL released this 23 Oct 21:40

A small menu bar clipboard manager for macOS 14+ (Apple Silicon and Intel).

What's new in 1.2.0

  • Tabbed Settings: Settings is now a Mac-style window with General, Pasting, Privacy and Updates tabs. Pasting shows whether ClipKeep has Accessibility access, and Updates links to the release notes.
  • Clear History: a new trash button in the history window (and a Clear History button in Settings → General) deletes all clips at once. It asks first, keeps your pinned clips, and esc cancels.
  • Clickable shortcut hints: the Paste, Pin, Delete and Close hints at the bottom of the history window are now buttons, so you can use them with the mouse too.
  • New home: ClipKeep now lives at HBL-LL/ClipKeep. Updates and the install script use the new address.
