Tessera Mortar makes a Tessera USB installer: pick how (Quick install, Create media for this PC, Customize, or Online install; 8 to 32 GB USB drives) and it downloads the newest Tessera USB image, checks it, writes it, and checks the drive.

New in 0.3.4 (security): Electron 44.10.2, the newest Chromium security fixes.

New in 0.3.3: Tessera's new logo (the window, the header and the app icon).

New in 0.3.2 (security): Electron 44.10.1 (the newest Chromium security fixes); every request inside Mortar is checked for coming from Mortar's own window; an image file from disk is written only if it was picked in Mortar's own file dialog; developer tools are off. Please use this version rather than earlier ones.

0.3.1 (security): on Linux, the step that writes the drive as root no longer runs from a file in /tmp that another account could swap; it also refuses a drive that changed since you picked it, or one in use as swap.

  • Windows: download Tessera-Mortar-…-win-x64.exe and run it. It asks for administrator rights (needed to write a USB drive). Mortar isn't code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may say "Windows protected your PC": choose More info, then Run anyway.
  • Linux: download Tessera-Mortar-…-linux-x86_64.AppImage, make it executable (chmod +x, or Properties > Allow executing), and run it. It asks for your password when it writes the drive.
  • macOS: not yet. Make the USB from Windows (Boot Camp works) or Linux.

In testing: please report problems as issues.
