Release list
Porchlight v1.1.0
Layouts
- Gatefold. Home opens like a double LP. The left page is the record that is playing, with the cover, the credits and a lyric sheet. The right page is the rest of Home.
- Index. Home reads like a magazine contents page. A cassette label across the top shows the song that is playing, with Like and More on the strip. Your shelves are a numbered list, and each number opens that whole shelf on its own page. Playlists sit in an appendix at the back.
- Crate. Flip through Home like a stack of records. The one in front shows its tracks as liner notes, Side A and Side B. Click a song to play from there, or an artist name to open their page. A turntable along the bottom spins the record that is actually playing.
- Panels. Rounded panels on black, the player in a bar along the bottom, and a soft wash of colour off the album cover.
- The dial. The knob next to the logo switches layouts. Click it, scroll over it, or use the arrow keys. Ctrl+L flips to the next one, and the cover turns over like a record. Porchlight remembers the last one you used. Pick one in Settings > Appearance, or the first time you open this update.
- Player colour. Index, Panels, Gatefold and Crate can give the player its own colour in the look editor. The text on it stays readable. If a shared look was made for one of these layouts, importing it asks before it switches.
- Floating player. Pop the player out into its own window from any layout.
- Sign in, in Ink. The button's label no longer disappears into the button.
- Playlists queued twice. Pressing Play on a playlist twice in a row no longer adds it to the queue twice.
Updating from 1.0.0: just let it update. Your library, settings, looks and downloads stay put.

Porchlight 1.0.0
YTubic Plus is now Porchlight
- Same app, new name. Your library, login, settings, looks, queue, Rewind history and downloads come with you on their own the first time Porchlight opens. Nothing to click.
- Its own app. Porchlight has its own identity now, so it can sit next to the original YTubic without the two getting in each other's way.
- New links. Shared links now use
porchlight://. Oldytubic-plus://links still open the app.
Updating from YTubic Plus: just let it update. If you're on an older version, it goes to 0.9.1 first and then to Porchlight.
Known issues
- Linux package (deb/rpm) users: the old YTubic Plus package stays installed. You can remove it yourself once Porchlight is running.
- Windows: if the original YTubic is installed for all users and running while Porchlight moves your data over, it may be closed.

YTubic Plus 0.9.1
Getting ready for Porchlight
A small update that prepares your app for its next chapter. YTubic Plus is becoming Porchlight, with its own name and its own app, so it can live next to the original YTubic.
- Nothing changes for you today. Same app, same library, same settings.
- When Porchlight 1.0.0 arrives, it brings your login, settings, looks, queue, Rewind history and downloads with it on its own. No clicks needed.

YTubic v0.9.0
Looks
- Five looks. YTubic Plus has a look of its own now: Sleeve, with record-sleeve type, serif headlines and one red accent. Paper, Ink liner and Ink are close cousins. Classic is the app as you know it.
- Make it yours. A short picker helps you choose a look. You can change it any time in Settings > Appearance.
- Custom looks. Copy any look and change its colours, fonts and details, with a live preview before you save it.
- Share a look. Export a look as a file and send it to a friend. Import theirs from the same place in Settings > Appearance.
- Back to Classic. Classic is unchanged. To go back, pick it in Settings > Appearance.
- Remembers where you were. The app keeps your song, queue and position across restarts and updates, so you can pick up where you left off.
Updating from 0.8.x keeps Classic until you pick something else. More layouts (Gatefold, Index, Crate, Panels) are on the roadmap.

Your requests
- Lyrics in Player: turn lyrics off in the side card and floating player in Settings > Appearance. The cover and controls move to the middle of the card.
- Share YouTube Music links: Settings > General can make Share copy a plain music.youtube.com link instead of the YTubic Plus page.
- Radio skips your dislikes: songs you've disliked in the app no longer turn up in radio, mixes or autoplay.
- Share links open YTubic Plus: shared links now go to a YTubic Plus page and open the app with its own
ytubic-plus://link, so they reach Plus even with the original YTubic installed. Olderytubic://links still work. - Window titles: every window's title ends in YTubic Plus, so window managers and Alt+Tab can tell them apart.
- Copy lyrics and errors (fixed): lyrics, playback errors and notifications can be selected and copied again, handy for bug reports.
- Links without the jump: a
ytubic-plus://link withbackground=1plays without bringing the window to the front (Windows and Linux).
Questions or ideas? Discussions are open now. Bugs go to Issues.
Windows: download the x64 setup .exe (or arm64 for Windows on ARM). Already on Plus? It updates itself.
YTubic Plus 0.8.0 "Rewind"
Rewind 🎉
rewind-launch.mp4
- Rewind: every quarter, a bold full-screen recap of your listening: minutes, top artists, songs and genres, and your listening personality, with your favourite songs playing underneath. Find it in the sidebar, and save any slide as an image.
- Import past listening: bring this quarter's plays in from a Google Takeout export (JSON or HTML) in Settings > Storage, so your first Rewind isn't empty.
- Stays on your computer: your listening history is kept on this computer only and never uploaded. Pause it or clear it any time in Settings > Storage.
Genres come from Last.fm tags (only artist names are sent, no account).
Also new
- Add to library: right-click any playlist, or use the bookmark button on its page, to add it to the app's own library. It shows up in Library and the sidebar. Already in your library? The same button removes it.
- Rename and delete playlists: your own playlists get rename and delete buttons at the top of the page. Changes show in YouTube Music too.
- Text selection (fixed): clicking and dragging no longer highlights text across the whole app. Search and other text boxes still select as usual.
- YTubic Plus: the sidebar logo now says YTubic Plus.
Some of your YouTube Music playlists may be missing from Library. We're still working out why they don't come through automatically. You can find them on Home under "From your library", and right-click one there to add it to the app's library in the meantime.
Windows: download the x64 setup .exe (or arm64 for Windows on ARM). Already on Plus? It updates itself.
YTubic Plus 0.7.5
YTubic Plus 0.7.5: The Video Update
The Song/Video switch finally does what it says.
✨ New
- Music videos: pick Video on the Song/Video switch and the music video plays, in sync with the song, in the player and in full screen. Before, it only swapped the audio.
- Video mode: Video stays on as you skip, like YouTube Music. A song with no video plays as audio, and the next track goes back to video.
- Video quality: Settings > Playback lets you pick anything from 360p to 4K (1440p by default). A change swaps in without interrupting the video.
- Report a bug: a little bug icon next to the AI button opens the report form, so it's always one click away.
🔧 Improved
- Full screen: one video carries across all three layouts with a smooth crossfade, and Immersive shows it sharp and uncropped.
- The right video: videos are matched with YouTube Music's own song/video pairing first, then by exact title and artist, so no lyric videos, covers or live versions.
🐛 Fixed
- Song/Video switch: switching keeps your place instead of restarting the track.
🗺️ What's next
See the Roadmap: SponsorBlock skipping for the non-music parts of videos, and picking video quality from what your graphics card handles best, are now on it.

YTubic Plus 0.7.2
YTubic Plus 0.7.2: AI filter fixes
A small follow-up to 0.7.1.
🐛 Fixed
- Check now: the update button now tells you when an update is already downloading, ready to install, or being checked, instead of doing nothing.
- AI look-alikes: copycats of AI acts whose own name already ends in a word like "Music" are now hidden and tagged too.
- AI mixes: with AI music off, a network hiccup while topping up a mix no longer throws away the songs it already found.
- Your library: AI songs on your own playlists and albums no longer vanish for a moment and pop back greyed out while your library loads.

YTubic Plus 0.7.1
YTubic Plus 0.7.1: steadier updates
A small follow-up to 0.7.0.
✨ New
- Check for Updates: Settings > General has a Check now button. It tells you you're up to date, starts the update, or shows why a check failed.
🔧 Improved
- Update checks: while the app is open it now looks for updates every 6 hours, so one missed check no longer means waiting for a restart.
- AI filter: with AI music off, channels copying a known AI act's name (like "Artist Music") are hidden too, and albums and home feed picks by AI artists are now filtered.
- Version label: Settings now shows YTubic Plus and the version you're running.

YTubic Plus 0.7.0
YTubic Plus 0.7.0: an AI music filter
Don't want AI-generated music? Now you can turn it off.
✨ New
- AI music switch: a new AI button in the top bar, one click from every page. Turn it off and AI-generated songs disappear from search, the home feed, radio mixes, autoplay and artist pages.
- Your library stays yours: AI songs already in your playlists, Liked Songs and downloads stay visible, greyed out and skipped. Want one anyway? Click it and choose Play anyway.
- AI tags: songs by known AI artists carry a small AI tag wherever they appear, whether the filter is on or off. AI? marks an artist who only shares a name with a known AI act. Those are never hidden.
- Your own calls: right-click any song to Mark artist as AI or Not AI, or to report an AI artist to the community list.
🔧 How it works
YouTube doesn't label AI music, so YTubic Plus uses community-maintained lists of AI artists. A daily job checks each one against the artist's songs on Spotify before confirming them, so a real artist who happens to share a name with an AI act isn't hidden. The results update every day, with no extra work for your PC.
It's pretty good, but not perfect: brand-new AI artists can slip through until someone lists them. If you spot one, right-click and mark it.
