no html report file generated from ifc_tester (since bonsai 0.8.1)

There will be no html report file generated (or I don't find the file) from the ifc_tester.

1. To reproduce this, open file an ifc file
2. Check "load form memory" or "choose an ifc file" (same behaviour)
3. check "generate html report"
4. click on "Execute ifc tester"

my setting:

no html file is generated (or I don't find that file)
--> by using bonsai v0.8.0 >> html file generated in the same folder where the ifc file is stored

I tried to use the Web UI (started a server), but the option IDS Audits I can't select (see below)

@Cudok Doesn't "Execute ifc tester" opens web broweser for you? Any console errors after you execute it?
Ifc Tester suppose to save .html report to %temp% directory and open it in web browser and then you can save it if you need.

(As I mentioned before, with v0.8.0 the browser opens)
Btw. my default browser, which was opend is Firefox.

And there isn't any in system console? You can open it in Blender -> Window -> Toggle System Console.

Can you please check your temp directory for html report temp files, is it there?

Also, can you open Python Console in Blender (it's in Scripting tab) and run this short script (need to replace /path/to/html/file.html with the path any html file on your computer). Is it working and opening html file in your browser?

Oh, sorry, it shouldn't be not just /tmp/xxx.html, it's in a subfolder - /tmp/hashsubfoldername/xxxx.html.

I think it's just using system temp folder like import tempfile; print(tempfile.mkdtemp()), so it shouldn't be flatpak specifc issue.

I check also the other folders by using "find", tut there were no html files.

Furthermore the system output gives only 2 lines (loading and validation) back, it looks like the tester itself dont do anything, or dont get the required data like ifc or ids. But I have no clue why. Sorry

I suspect this is is a flatpak-specific thing. Can you tweak the code to print the output folder?

1. See where Bonsai is installed: https://docs.bonsaibim.org/guides/troubleshooting.html#where-is-the-add-on-installed
2. Edit bonsai/bim/module/tester/operator.py
3. You should see the line output_path = output.as_posix() somewhere. Add a new line print(output_path) below it.
4. Restart Blender and rerun and check the console for the printed path and see where it is located. Is that an accessible folder? Can either webbrowser.open(f"file://{output_path}") or webbrowser.open(f"{output_path}") work?

@Moult I added the print command and checked the returned folder for the HTML file.

But there is no HTML file in the folder the print command returned. Also there is no extra folder (/tmp/tmp7fynn1qq)
The function of the module tester tries to write in to the /tmp folder. The /tmp folder belongs to root
(return from ls -la: "drwxrwxrwt 41 root root 24K Feb 17 09:49 tmp"). But "others" are also allowed to read and write.

Any ideas where this could come from and how it could be related?

This is a mystery why even folder in /tmp/ is gone - opening .html for writing the contents would fail if there wasn't this folder. So I assume it's created and accessed. But then removed or could it be somehow hidden in the system?

Can you please try to run this snippet from Blender and from Python outside of Blender and post the results here. And check whether printed folder and html file are created.

• I loaded the python script (testWriteTemp.py) into the blenders Scripting section and press the run button
• following the output of the system console:

in /tmp there is no folder "tmpwalydll0/" and so no HTML file.

but I did some research regarding /tmp folder of flatpak (sorry I didnt do earlier) and do I could find the folder and the HTML file:

When running the ifctester in blender again and check the "flatpak-tmp-folder: /run/user/1000/.flatpak/org.blender.Blender/tmp/" there is the generated HTML file.

Update:
The folder org.blender.Blender/tmp/ is created when run the blender flatpak (at /run/user/1000/.flatpak/).
And after run the ifctester in blender, an other folder inside of the .../org.blender.Blender/tmp/ folder is created, which includes the HTML file.

So now I can find the ifctester result file.

But before Version 0.8.1 the ifctesters resulting file was written into the same folder as the checked ifc files was stored.
