# AOL Instant Messenger - Classic Revival

## 🆕 Version 1.0.0 – July 13, 2025

### ✨ Features

- Initial cross-platform release for Windows and macOS
- Classic AOL-style interface using Python + Tkinter
- Multi-window layout: Chat, Online Users, Friends
- Persistent login support with JSON storage
- Sound effects on login, message receive, and logout
- Icon and branding support for taskbar and title bar
- Flashing window on message arrival when app is in background (Windows only)

### 🛠 Improvements

- Platform-specific sound handling (Windows: `winsound`, macOS: `playsound`)
- OS-aware packaging via PyInstaller with `--add-data` fix
- Refined message tag coloring (`admin`, `user`)
- Auto reconnection attempts to server

### ⚠️ Known Issues

- Friends window may not show unless `friends_window_valid = True`
- No encryption for login JSON (use with caution)
