@github-actions github-actions released this 03 Nov 20:33

The third alpha of ReRBR: Richard Burns Rally 1.02 with NGP 7 physics, rewritten from scratch and native on Linux,
macOS and Windows. Expect bugs, and please report them: the
launcher's error panel fills in a report for you.

You bring the game. ReRBR plays your own copy of Richard Burns Rally 1.02 with NGP 7.4.778: a RallySimFans
install, RBR with the 1.02 patch and the NGP plugin, or only the disc (the launcher builds the game folder from it).
ReRBR only reads the game folder; it never changes it. See Your game, with NGP.

New since 0.1.0-alpha.1

  • BTB stages, experimental. The Bob's Track Builder stages of a RallySimFans install (RX_CONTENT/Tracks) are
listed in the stage browser, marked experimental, and play as RSF plays them, with their physics files built from
the stage folder. They are drawn without bump or specular maps, only in dry weather, and keep no records or ghosts.
  • The disc alone is enough. Setting up from the disc no longer needs the 1.02 patch, and NGP is optional during
the setup; with no cars yet, the launcher opens on the car list.
  • BTB stages look and load better. Stage pictures in the launcher and the loading screen; the stages that draw
their own sky no longer go dark with lighting on; plants no longer ghost; the lighting bakes cover only the ground
near the road, so loading is shorter.
  • Fixes. The car no longer freezes when a part such as a light pod comes off. The game no longer crashes when a
    drive ends with MangoHud enabled.

Downloads

System File
Windows 10 or later, x86_64 ReRBR-0.1.0-alpha.3-windows-x86_64.zip
macOS 11 or later, Apple silicon ReRBR-0.1.0-alpha.3-macos.dmg
Linux, x86_64 ReRBR-0.1.0-alpha.3-x86_64.AppImage

Development happens mostly on macOS and Linux, so Windows may have more bugs for now.

Nothing else needs installing. None of the programs are signed:

  • Windows: extract the zip anywhere and start rerbr.exe. At "Windows protected your PC", press More info,
    then Run anyway.
  • macOS: drag ReRBR to Applications. The first time, macOS refuses to open it: press Done, then in
System Settings → Privacy & Security press Open Anyway.
  • Linux: chmod +x the AppImage and start it. It needs FUSE 2 or 3; without it, add
    --appimage-extract-and-run.

Full steps are in the README.

What works

Every retail stage and the RallySimFans stages (its BTB stages experimentally), the quick race and the championship, NGP physics with the
RallySimFans cars, the HUD and pace notes, the co-driver, sound, wheels and force feedback, and replays with video
export. The known limitations list what doesn't work yet.

Licences

ReRBR is GPL-3.0-or-later. The Windows zip also contains Microsoft's DirectX Shader Compiler (dxcompiler.dll,
v1.9.2609) under its own licences, which are beside it in the folder.
