Immutable release. Only release title and notes can be modified.

Poki now supports remote connections, and it tells you when a new version is out.

Remote connections

Poki now supports remote connections.

Also in this release

  • Update notices. Once a day, Poki checks GitHub for the latest release. When a newer version is available, poki_mcp_status and poki status display the version number, a one-line summary, the release link, and the update command. The check is anonymous and sends no tokens, device information, or conversation data. If GitHub is unreachable, Poki stays quiet and starts as usual.
  • poki update. In a source checkout, this command fetches the latest code and rebuilds it using ./bin/setup. It only runs when you are on main with a clean working tree. It stops without making changes if you are on another branch, have uncommitted or untracked files, or if an incoming file would overwrite an ignored file. In a prebuilt package, it prints the manual download steps. It never restarts the service automatically.
  • Restart prompt. When the code has been updated but the service is still running the old version, Poki tells you to restart it.
  • Channels shut down cleanly. iMessage and Telegram channel processes now exit when the process that started them exits, and remove their lock files on the way out.

Coming next: your Mac can stay off

Run Poki MCP on an always-on server and connect to it over HTTP from Claude, ChatGPT, or any MCP client. After a one-time setup on your Mac, your Mac will no longer need to stay on for Poki to use your iPhone.

Thanks

  • @ZhehanZhang proposed and tested remote control in #2, which remote connections build on.
  • @edge369 contributed the channel shutdown fix in #3.

Turn it off

Set POKI_NO_UPDATE_CHECK=1 in the environment before starting the service. Set it in your shell environment as well if you want poki status to hide the notice.

Upgrade from v0.1.0

Because v0.1.0 does not include update notices or poki update, you will need to upgrade manually this one time.

Source checkout. From your Poki directory, on main:

git pull --ff-only
./bin/setup
npm ci --prefix agent # only if you use Poki Agent

Prebuilt package. Download poki-v0.1.1-macos-arm64.tar.gz below and extract it into a new directory:

tar -xzf poki-v0.1.1-macos-arm64.tar.gz
cd poki-v0.1.1
npm ci --no-audit --no-fund
npm ci --prefix agent --no-audit --no-fund # only if you use Poki Agent

Next, point your MCP client to src/stdio.mjs in the new directory, and update your shell PATH if you use Poki Agent.

Both. Stop the running service and start it again with npm start, keeping the same POKI_MCP_STATE_DIR. Running poki_mcp_status should now report Poki MCP 0.1.1.

Going forward, Poki will let you know when the next release is out, and poki update will handle the rest.

First public release of Poki.

  • Poki MCP: a local MCP server that lets your agent read and operate a real iPhone. Connect it to Claude Code, Codex, or another MCP client and use your own subscription. No extra model account needed.
  • Poki Agent: send a task from iMessage, Telegram, or the terminal. It runs the task on your iPhone and learns reusable routes.

No jailbreak and no extra hardware.

Install

Hand the repository to your agent, or follow docs/install.md.

poki-v0.1.0-macos-arm64.tar.gz is a signed and notarized build for Apple silicon Macs. It saves the Rust toolchain and the first build. Physical iPhones still need a full Xcode installation. Requires macOS 15 or later.
