Fixes startup on Node 25. SourceSpool now requires Node 22 or newer instead of restricting users to Node 24.19.0 through 24.x. Node 24 LTS remains recommended. Windows 11 x64 and local NTFS requirements remain in place.

Update and launch:

npm install -g sourcespool@latest
sourcespool

Or run without a permanent installation:

npx sourcespool@latest

Includes runtime regression tests, production startup checks for the installed npm package, and a Windows CI matrix for Node 22, 24, 25 and 26. Local behavior/setup and real-tool integration tests passed on Node 22.0.0, 24.19.0 and 25.2.1.

All four hosted Windows jobs passed, including clean npm installation, actual tool downloads, original-media saves, cancellation and crash recovery: release qualification. The 36,479-byte npm tarball matches the locally tested artifact byte-for-byte.

@JustinReyes28 JustinReyes28 released this 18 Oct 05:55

SourceSpool 0.1.0 saves permitted media references into a local Windows library with source links, collections, tags, notes and offline search.

This first production release adds real yt-dlp/FFmpeg integration, video/audio format selection, persistent naming templates, exact source/hash duplicate choices, metadata export/import and missing-file status. Verified no-overwrite media promotion, locked JSON replacement, backups and journals support cancellation and interrupted-save recovery.

Install the Windows x64 source archive below (617,914 bytes, about 0.62 MB), then run npm ci and npm run build with Node 24.19.0. External tools are installed separately: tested yt-dlp 2026.08.19 and FFmpeg 9.0.2 Essentials. No external executable or personal library is bundled. Existing developers can reuse their installed tools and npm cache.

Validation: 33 behavior/keyboard tests and six real-tool integration checks passed both locally and in a clean checkout. The clean npm install used --offline and the existing cache. Windows CI passed for source commit 6085ac9. Actual Windows Terminal normal/SIGINT/error checks passed in light and dark colors. The real-media checks use original generated clips over loopback HTTP.

The owner approved documented solo validation and deferred interviews/independent beta participation. Product assumptions remain unvalidated; no human research outcomes or universal site-reliability claims are made. Initial support is Windows 11 x64 on local NTFS. Playlists, cookies/login, cloud sync, npm publication and other operating systems are deferred.

Yoinks by Pablo Stanley inspired the approachable terminal downloader concept. Application code, collection workflow, samples and captures are original. SourceSpool is MIT licensed; external tools retain their own licenses.
