Maintenance Recipes

How to keep Zee running after system updates.

Update Python version

Use the template: docs/maintenance/python_version_bump.md

Quick steps:

1. Install the new Python (via uv python install 3.XX or your package manager).
2. Recreate the virtualenv: uv venv --python 3.XX --clear .venv
3. Reinstall: uv sync
4. Run tests: uv run pytest
5. Restart the Zee daemon (launchd / systemd / Service — see below).

macOS — launchd

Common commands:

launchctl unload ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.zee.watch.plist
launchctl load  ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.zee.watch.plist
launchctl list | grep zee

Linux — systemd

sudo systemctl restart zee-watch
sudo systemctl status  zee-watch
journalctl -u zee-watch -n 50
