openNG2 1.0.1
A native Windows version of Ninja Gaiden II (Xbox 360), built from your own copy of the game. No game files are included.
What's new in 1.0.1
openNG2 now keeps itself up to date.
- Launcher: checks for a new release when it starts. Click Update now: it downloads the new version, checks it, replaces itself and rebuilds your game from the files already installed. You don't need to add your game files again.
- In the game: when an update is out, a notice on the title screen and menus says Update available - Open the launcher, with UPDATE NOW and CLOSE buttons. You can also update from Options > Recomp Settings > System > Update with a controller or keyboard.
- Keep playing while it builds. The launcher waits for you to close the game before it installs the new version. Saves and settings are kept.
- The launcher now shows your installed version, with Play and Rebuild buttons.
- The check is one anonymous request to GitHub. Turn it off in the launcher (the "at start" box) or with System > Check for Updates.
Updating from 1.0
1.0 can't update itself, so this one time:
- Download
openNG2-1.0.1.zipand extract it over your old openNG2 folder (or anywhere else). - Run
openNG2.exe. Your existing install shows up under Installed. Click Update the game: it rebuilds from the files already installed, so there's nothing to add.
From 1.0.1 on, updates are one click.
New install
- Download
openNG2-1.0.1.zip, extract it, and runopenNG2.exe. - Add your files (each one is checked when you add it):

TU_1A461UL_000000G000000.00000000000G4 - DLC folder (optional): Mission Mode and the costume packs
- Game (required): Games on Demand package
- Click Build. The first build downloads a compiler (about 2 GB) and takes a while; then click Play.
Requirements: 64-bit Windows 10/11, a Direct3D 12 graphics card, about 22 GB of free space on the install drive, and an internet connection for the first build.
Known issues
- Game logic runs at 60 FPS; above 60 is frame generation.
- If your GPU can't hold 60 FPS (e.g. at 5x resolution) the game slows down, as on the console.
- Only tested through the early chapters and Mission Mode so far. Please report problems.
- No mouse control in menus; the Show Karma key has no keyboard binding yet.
- If openNG2 is in a folder Windows won't let it write to (such as Program Files), it can't update itself. It tells you, and you can download the new version from this page.
