Lemon for macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on Apple silicon. The same version as Windows 0.3.0.

What's new in 0.3.0

  • Welcome guide on first launch. Pick which kinds of files you want to convert (pictures, videos and music, documents, making PDFs, shrinking PDFs); Add installs the free converter with Homebrew in a Terminal window. Then an animation on the real wheel shows how it works: drag, shake (or your key), drop. Reopen it any time in Settings › About.
  • Update check. Lemon tells you when a newer Mac version is out, at the top of the main window and in Settings › About. Nothing installs by itself; you can turn the check off in Settings › About.
  • Choose how the wheel opens. Settings › Wheel › Opening the wheel: shake the mouse, a key, or both. Shift (held) is the default; any other key, like Space, is pressed once while dragging.
  • Esc closes the wheel without cancelling the drag. Drop the files anywhere, or open the wheel again.

Requirements

  • A Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later). Intel Macs aren't supported by this build.
  • macOS 14 Sonoma or later.

Install

  1. Download Lemon-0.3.0-mac.zip below and double-click it to unzip.

  2. Drag Lemon.app into your Applications folder (replace the old one if you have it).

  3. Open Lemon. The first time, macOS stops it, because Lemon isn't from the App Store or notarized by Apple:

    • macOS 15 Sequoia or later: a dialog says “Lemon” Not Opened. Click Done, open System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll down to “Lemon” was blocked to protect your Mac, click Open Anyway and confirm with your password or Touch ID. Then click Open Anyway once more.
    • macOS 14 Sonoma: in Finder, Control-click (or right-click) Lemon.app, choose Open, then click Open in the dialog.
    • Or, in Terminal: xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Lemon.app, then open Lemon normally.

You only do this once; after that Lemon opens like any other app.

  4. Lemon asks for Accessibility access (System Settings › Privacy & Security › Accessibility). It uses it only for keys while you drag: Tab, the number keys and Esc on the wheel, and a wheel key other than Shift. The wheel works without it, just without those keys.

  5. Lemon lives in the menu bar (the lemon icon). Closing the window keeps it running there so the wheel still works; quit from that menu.

Converters

The welcome guide installs these for you. To do it by hand, with Homebrew:

brew install imagemagick ffmpeg
brew install pandoc ghostscript
brew install --cask libreoffice

Formats light up as their tools are found; no restart needed. Background removal works out of the box with Apple Vision; the BiRefNet models are downloaded in Settings › Background.
