Lemon - Mac 0.4.0
Lemon for macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on Apple silicon.
What's new in 0.4.0
- Commands ring. Run your own shell commands from the wheel. Shake a project folder to open it in your terminal (or start Claude Code there), shake a link from the browser to hand it to your own tool, or shake files to run a script on them. Set them up in Settings › Wheel › Commands.
- Files, folders and links. Each command runs on dragged files (optionally only some types, like
pdf, png), folders, or links. A folder dragged on its own opens straight on Commands. - Placeholder chips. In the command box, File, Folder, Files in Folder and Link show as colored chips, with buttons to insert one at the cursor. They're quoted for the shell for you.
- Errors are shown. If a command fails, Lemon shows what it printed.
- Examples (Ghostty, Claude Code, VS Code) are in DETAIL.md.
Requirements
- A Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later). Intel Macs aren't supported by this build.
- macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
Install
-
Download Lemon-0.4.0-mac.zip below and double-click it to unzip.
-
Drag Lemon.app into your Applications folder (replace the old one if you have it).
-
Open Lemon. The first time, macOS stops it, because Lemon isn't from the App Store or notarized by Apple:
- macOS 15 Sequoia or later: a dialog says “Lemon” Not Opened. Click Done, open System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll down to “Lemon” was blocked to protect your Mac, click Open Anyway and confirm with your password or Touch ID. Then click Open Anyway once more.
- macOS 14 Sonoma: in Finder, Control-click (or right-click) Lemon.app, choose Open, then click Open in the dialog.
- Or, in Terminal:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Lemon.app, then open Lemon normally.
You only do this once; after that Lemon opens like any other app.
-
Lemon asks for Accessibility access (System Settings › Privacy & Security › Accessibility). It uses it only for keys while you drag: Tab, the number keys and Esc on the wheel, and a wheel key other than Shift. The wheel works without it, just without those keys.
-
Lemon lives in the menu bar (the lemon icon). Closing the window keeps it running there so the wheel still works; quit from that menu.
Converters
The welcome guide installs these for you. To do it by hand, with Homebrew:
brew install imagemagick ffmpeg
brew install pandoc ghostscript
brew install --cask libreoffice
Formats light up as their tools are found; no restart needed. Background removal works out of the box with Apple Vision; the BiRefNet models are downloaded in Settings › Background.
