Solipsism Browser 8.0.0
This release completes the first integrated dual-core architecture. Solipsism ships its privacy-focused Android WebView experience together with the optional in-house Antares rendering engine, while keeping the browser interface, tabs, downloads, permissions and settings in one application.
Highlights
- Integrated ARM64 Antares engine support with runtime browser-core selection.
- Improved core switching, tab restoration, tab rendering and new-tab homepage handling.
- Native offline homepage and refreshed setup flow for theme, accent colour, navigation rail, search engine and browser core choices.
- Material Design 3 settings reorganisation, including grouped Basics, Experience, Privacy, Accessibility, Updates and independent licence pages.
- Expanded accessibility support, including text-to-speech controls, keyboard navigation, focus handling, contrast-aware themes and reduced-motion behaviour.
- Rail and overflow-menu customisation with movable actions, quick actions and stable defaults.
- Screenshot Studio improvements with full-image and selected-region search workflows.
- Improved media, downloads, file chooser, address-bar and tab interactions across both cores.
- Privacy and compatibility improvements for cookie controls, content blocking, user-agent display and WebView/Antares coordination.
- Expanded third-party licence attribution and generated Antares dependency licence documentation.
- Production ARM64 packaging, resource shrinking and release signing.
Known limitations
Antares remains experimental. Some complex sites, media players and Web APIs may behave differently from Android WebView. Solipsism continues to provide Android WebView as the stable fallback.
