Kettu 0.0.12 fixes account status after sign-in, preserves New session drafts, and improves context usage, side panels and image previews.
macOS builds are signed and notarized by Apple and support Apple silicon only. Windows builds are not signed yet, so SmartScreen may warn before setup runs. On Linux, make the AppImage executable with chmod +x first. The daemon packages, checksums and install.sh support the daemon installer; the update feeds, macOS zip and blockmap support automatic updates.
What changed
- Account status refreshes after terminal sign-in and when an agent's settings page opens. You can also refresh it from the Account heading. Long sign-in commands and update logs stay inside their notice cards. (#821, #824)
- A harness whose executable is missing no longer appears up to date. Add agent is available at the top of the agent list as well as at the end. (#829)
- Settings > Remote access shows a device's icon beside its name. Rename edits the name in place: Enter or leaving the field saves it, and Escape cancels. (#826)
- Renaming a session no longer scrolls the sidebar sideways. Keyboard hints wrap as complete items in a narrow sidebar. (#831)
- When a session archives itself, the app leaves that session. Archived sessions cannot accept messages or resume queued work until restored. (#830)
- The context popover can read usage during a running turn when the agent supports it. Otherwise it keeps the previous breakdown and marks it as read before the turn. Reading the breakdown also updates the usage indicator. (#834)
- Returning to a New session draft restores its agent, project and option selections. Closing the last terminal tab closes its panel; explicitly closing a browser page destroys it, while switching panels preserves the page. (#836)
- The New session heading and composer are vertically centered, with scrolling preserved in short windows. Attached pictures keep their proportions in larger previews instead of small square crops. (#837)

- Agent 支持时，上下文弹窗可以在执行期间读取用量；不支持时保留上一次的明细，并注明读取于本轮开始前。读取明细也会更新用量指示。
- 返回新会话草稿时，会恢复已选的 Agent、项目和选项。关闭最后一个终端标签页会收起终端面板；明确关闭浏览器页面会销毁该页面，切换面板则保留页面。
- 新会话标题和输入框在纵向居中，较矮的窗口仍可正常滚动。附件图片使用更大的预览并保留原始比例，不再裁成小方块。
macOS 安装包已经签名并通过 Apple 公证，仅支持 Apple silicon。Windows 安装包暂未签名，SmartScreen 可能提示。Linux 的 AppImage 需要先用 chmod +x 添加执行权限。
Kettu 会检查更新，你选择之后才安装。daemon 用 kettu update 更新。

What changed
- An agent exists only after you add it. Installing, detecting or updating a harness no longer adds one, so a new install starts with no agents. You can remove any agent: its sessions stay and can still be read, and the harness and its configuration stay. On update, an agent you were already using is kept (the default, one with sessions or routines, or one whose folder or options you set); one that was only the old automatic default is dropped. (#815)
- Agent folders Kettu creates, and the harness packages it installs, now live under
~/.kettu(agentsandharnesses). Uninstalling the app no longer deletes them. Existing folders move there once, the first time this version starts. (#815) - A harness Kettu installed can be uninstalled from Settings › Harnesses. Kettu deletes its own package, stops that harness's agents and removes them, and keeps their sessions. Your own program and configuration are never deleted. When Kettu knows how you installed it (Homebrew, npm, WinGet, or a uvx package), the dialog can run that uninstall command: it is shown first, and runs only if you check the box. (#815)
- A file named in a reply, and each row under a turn's changed files, shows that file's own icon. A turn that changed more than five files starts folded; the count stays visible. (#814)
- A link in a reply shows its site's icon, such as GitHub's, before you open the site. The site still counts as unopened, so the first visit still asks. (#817)
- Opening a project's menu in the sidebar keeps New session and More actions where they are, and the menu is only as wide as its items. (#812)

- A new design for the whole window, in light and dark: the sidebar, the thread and composer, approvals and dialogs, the Files, terminal and browser panes, Usage, Routines, Artifacts and Settings. A finished turn folds its steps under a Worked for row and lists the files it changed, with Review and Commit and open PR. Replies show maths and diagrams. (#798)

- Sessions on your other hosts appear in the sidebar, grouped by host, and work as this computer's do: their agents in the agent menu, their terminal, files and images sent from this computer, media they name, and changes in their projects. - An agent on another host uses the browser of the app that sent its turn, and a new site can be answered from any app or browser that shows the session. (#769, #774)
- A session shows who else has it open, and what a paired device sends or answers is marked with its name. A message whose turn failed goes back to whoever sent it. (#763, #767, #750)
- A device keeps its sessions through a dropped connection and catches up when it reconnects, and notices within seconds when a host stops answering. (#736, #768)
- The web client plays and seeks videos of any size on https and localhost, and saves large files part by part. (#777)

- This computer serves a web client. In Settings › Remote access › Add device, choose Browser and open the link, or scan the code, on a device on the same network, a VPN or an SSH forward; it pairs like the app, with no account. Opened over plain http, the page says what that leaves unprotected. (#711)
- The web client shows every Settings section of the window. Settings that take effect on this computer, its agents, shell, devices, sharing and updates can be changed from any paired device, and folders on this computer are typed with completion. (#714, #720)
- The web client uses this computer's themes, notices and artifact previews. A theme installed from a browser shows only there. While the page is open in the background, notices come through the browser's notifications, on https or localhost. (#721)
- Switches are green when they are on, in light and dark, and keyboard focus no longer draws a ring around them. Themes can set the green with

Intel Macs are no longer supported: there is no Intel build from this release on, and Kettu on an Intel Mac shows an update error instead of updating.
What changed
- Settings › Remote access lets another device use this computer's sessions. Turn on direct connections, then pair the device by scanning a one-time code and confirming it here. It connects straight to this computer on the same network or over a VPN such as Tailscale, end-to-end encrypted, with no account and nothing passing through a cloud. The phone app that uses it is not released yet. (#655, #661, #666, #669, #690)
- A paired device can follow sessions live, send messages, answer permission requests, start and rename sessions, attach photos and any other file, open images, videos and project files, and see the project's changes. (#694, #699, #703, #705)
- Devices can open this computer's terminals once you turn on Allow terminal; it is off by default. (#691, #701)
- Each paired device has a page with its activity, and can be renamed or removed; a removed device is told so the next time it connects. (#669, #700)
- Settings › Hosts adds another computer running Kettu and shows whether it is reachable. (#686)
- The update cards in the sidebar act in place: Kettu's restarts or downloads, and an agent's shows the command and versions before it updates. (#662)

- Settings splits Agents from Harnesses. A harness is the program, such as Claude Code or Codex; an agent is a harness with its own configuration folder and name. Claude Code and Codex can have several agents side by side, each signed in to its own account or given its own API key, and the agent menu lists agents by name. (#645)
- Kettu now runs your own
claudeandcodexand no longer ships a copy of either. When one is missing or out of date, its harness page installs or updates it the way its maker documents, and shows the command before running it. (#645) - While Kettu starts, the whole window shows the one-color fox, breathing slowly until the app is ready, instead of the orange icon, a line of text and a spinner. (#641)

- The Artifacts page lays every artifact out flat, three to a row, the most recently opened first, each on its kind's color. Search, filters by kind and project, grouping by project and session, and the sort are in the buttons beside the title. (#637)
- A row at the top of the page asks an agent for a new web page or canvas: it opens New session with a line ready for you to finish. An empty page now says how artifacts get there. (#637)
- The model menus list each agent's current models first and fold earlier versions under More models; search still finds every model. (#633)

macOS builds are signed and notarized by Apple. Windows builds are not signed yet, so SmartScreen may warn before the setup runs. On Linux, make the AppImage executable with chmod +x first. The other files under Assets are what Kettu reads to update itself; you do not need them.
What changed
- The built-in theme is now a neutral white and gray look in your system's font: flat columns divided by thin lines, gray hover and selection, and denser rows and controls, in light and dark. (#627)
- The warm Paper look is now a theme in the catalog. Install it from Settings › Appearance › Browse themes to bring back its colors, with Source Serif 4 for replies and headings and Inter for the interface. (#627)
- A theme file may choose the font for the interface, for replies and headings, and for code, from the fonts Kettu ships. (#627)

- The agent menu lists only the agents you have installed, counting Claude Code or Codex when their CLI is on your machine. The others stay in Settings › Agents, which the menu's new Set up agents… button opens. (#626)
- The menu lists an agent's models before you choose a project. The first time, Kettu starts the agent to read them; once you choose a project, the list shows what the agent offers there. (#629)
